VRS front shock heavy mist/leaking ? give me your 2 cents
Hi all. After getting the usual advisory for "Front Shock absorbers light misting of oil" I read the forum and this link and realised it was a normal thing on these cars. Still, I decided to go and investigate. I found that the mist is all the way down to the bottom of the shock, so falling outside of what VW considers normal in http://www.vwgolf.org/leaks_at_shock_absorbers-1838.html. Please check the video .... https://youtu.be/cWlKW7RSVgs There are no knocks or bangs that I have ever noticed. Should I change them ? Give me your 2 cents Cheers.

Rear Springs for Towing
very interesting topic. I had this problem when I travelled recently without towing ... I can only imagine what it will look like with all the family on board and towing ... The MAD helper springs seem to be a good approach ?

Leases are expensive - really?
yes, if you pick and chose the sentences of my post it becomes irrelevant, I apologise for that 😒

Agreed, if you only consider having new cars and swap them every 3 or 4 years. In that scenario then yes, it might be worth a lease. But you are looking at almost £5k/year car cost and not much people can afford that. I bought my Octavia vrs estate in 2019 and it is a 2013 car, it cost me 12k and 1 year later is still worth about 11k. Totally different cost/year bracket.

4x4 got stuck for the 1st time in 8 years....
I believe this is the same system as the toyota celica gt4 gearbox , if u want to see it taken apart look for "project binky" on youtube. on one of the lateste episodes they refurb the gearbox and u can see that although the tranfer case is mounted on the side of the box it gets is motion directly from the diff via a long shaft.
