  1. have you replaced them ? if so, did you notice a difference ?
  2. Hi all. After getting the usual advisory for "Front Shock absorbers light misting of oil" I read the forum and this link and realised it was a normal thing on these cars. Still, I decided to go and investigate. I found that the mist is all the way down to the bottom of the shock, so falling outside of what VW considers normal in http://www.vwgolf.org/leaks_at_shock_absorbers-1838.html. Please check the video .... https://youtu.be/cWlKW7RSVgs There are no knocks or bangs that I have ever noticed. Should I change them ? Give me your 2 cents Cheers.
  3. yes, there is a post with all that but it is done by the dealer. read below
  4. Welcome I am Portuguese too, although living in UK (probably not for long though)
  5. very interesting topic. I had this problem when I travelled recently without towing ... I can only imagine what it will look like with all the family on board and towing ... The MAD helper springs seem to be a good approach ?
  6. yes, if you pick and chose the sentences of my post it becomes irrelevant, I apologise for that 😒
  7. Agreed, if you only consider having new cars and swap them every 3 or 4 years. In that scenario then yes, it might be worth a lease. But you are looking at almost £5k/year car cost and not much people can afford that. I bought my Octavia vrs estate in 2019 and it is a 2013 car, it cost me 12k and 1 year later is still worth about 11k. Totally different cost/year bracket.
  8. yes, that would be the thermostat housing. Mine had the same on the day I bought it , luckly the dealer assumed it all and paid for repair ... Common problem on the 2.0L TFSI gen3 ....
  9. I believe this is the same system as the toyota celica gt4 gearbox , if u want to see it taken apart look for "project binky" on youtube. on one of the lateste episodes they refurb the gearbox and u can see that although the tranfer case is mounted on the side of the box it gets is motion directly from the diff via a long shaft.
  10. If you are looking for a cheaper option, I have a couple of "ctek like" ones from Lidl and they do a decent job
  11. yup, I use OBD11. Sometime sit takes me a while to follow the instructions for coding (as most are written for VCDS) but I always get there in the end ....
  12. just got this installed in Redditch too .... long way from Essex but no one wanted to try doing it down here .... ended up being more expensive cause had to include a day off work and a sleep in hotel but its done now Thank you
  13. thanks for the feedback I was thinking about the ECS hybrid one. https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/ecs-tuning/ecs-dogbone-mount-insert-kit-mqb-platform/ anyone tried it ?
  14. Hi all. I felt the famous wheel hop last night and it really bummed me ..... Looking to improve that now .... what would ppl have to say of stainless vs ally vs hybrid vs full poly ? Stainless: https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/apr/apr-billet-stainless-steel-dogbone-subframe-mount-insert-for-mqb-vehicles/ Ally https://store.034motorsport.com/mqb-dogbone-mount-insert-mkvii-volkswagen-golf-gti-r-8v-audi-a3-s3-billet-aluminum.html Hybrid https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/ecs-tuning/ecs-dogbone-mount-insert-kit-mqb-platform/ Poly https://powerflexstore.co.uk/skoda/octavia-mk3-5e-2013/powerflex-front-lower-engine-mount-hybrid-bush-large-octavia-5e-150ps-plus-multi-link-pff85-833/ I am tempted to go hybrid one .... it should reduce the craking/bending the aluminium ones seem to be prone to due to extra "give" on the polyurethane and hopefully reduce cabin vibration too ? Or maybe just go full Poly ?
  15. Could one buy the stalk from the aftermarket ? https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/valeo/9382367 install it and get the SD card and the coding from the dealer ? It would be a lotttt cheaper .....(if dealer agrees to it ....)
  16. Yup.... Just bought a 2013 vrs and on my way home had exactly these symptoms.... Couldn't describe them any better.... Have u ever found the problem / solution?
