  1. Thanks, I will keep the air fare option as plan B 😉
  2. Do I have to go to a garage to find the leak ? Any DIY ways ?
  3. Hello everyone, I noticed that the coolant in my Skoda is way below the minimum level, rushed and bought AF12+ coolant and topped up. And then looked at the container and it shows "G13". Is it going to harm the engine in any way ?
  4. But do you have European breakdown cover as part of UK car insurance or is it purchased in addition to it ?
  5. Hello everyone, this is a question to those who drive your Skoda in both UK and EU - when it comes to insurance (I) and Breakdown Cover (BC) how do you insurence your car ? One I + BC for UK and one BC for EU ? Or just one for everything ? What is your approach to this ? Thanks
  6. I need to refresh the insurance for my Kodiaq including the breakdown cover for UK and EU. I looked at a few websites today and they all have breakdown cover but just for UK. To have breakdown cover also for EU I used another comparison site. Now I am a bit confused: should I go for car insurence without breakdown cover + breakdown cover for UK+EU (two purchases) ? Any other way to achive the same (insurance + breakdown cover for UK + EU) ?
  7. It was said in one of the recordings that the car should be on all the time while running the update. Should I turn on just ignition or the engine as well ? If just the ignition how do I know that the battery is charged enough ?
  8. Thanks a lot @Yogi-Bear - I don't have that button.
  9. I just wanted to asses it by myself - if i.e. the original, brand new size is 10mm and I have now i.e. 2 mm then it is worn 80%.
  10. Can anybody attach some picture of where I can manually select the Eco mode please ? In the gear (automatic, diesel) I have only the regular Drive mode (D) and Sport (S) option (and the manual mode when gear pushed towards the passenger)
  11. 1. Who said the coasting mode doesn't consume any fuel ?! 2. And what your dashboard says when you are in the coasting mode (you can switch the dashboard to show you MPG updated every 0.5s.) ?
  12. Taking the foot of the accelerator is not the same as the RPM stays the same (high) and drops slowly when your car slows down due to the engine being engaged. If, for you, reaching 1 mile (no coasting) in the same amount of time is the same as reaching 2 miles (coasting) then, well, we fundamentally disagree. And I would ask you please to read my original question as it was the original topic that I would like to focus on. I drove yesterday and was watching the RPM. While coasting the RPM gets below 1000 RPM. With the engine engaged it doesn't drop and the engine is like a "weak" brake: it slows you down
  13. ad. 1 the rpm drops significantly and the car "flows" ( I can get far more then without it)
  14. Does anybody know what is the original size ? And does the size differ between front and rear brakes ?
  15. I've just realised reading all messages that I have clarify my original question. In my Skoda (diesel) we don't have the eco mode in the gear box. What I was talking about is the ECO symbol/icon (right down corner in the dashboard) that shows (sometimes !) when I release the acelerator. Is there any way I can make it on more often ?
  16. I have Diesel and automatic gearbox. The Eco light illuminates when I gently take my foot off the accelerator pedal. But it is very unpredictable behavior.
  17. Hello everyone, We have Skoda Kodiaq for over 4 years and I still didn't fully understand how the Eco mode works. When I release accelerator pedal, it sometimes turns on and sometimes doesn't (on the same, flat road). I understand the internal computer decides whether it can be turned on or not but does anybody know any way to let it be tolerant and turn on the Eco mode more often ?
  18. @xman yes, they are front brakes. @inspectorman thanks ! I was thinking of any way how to measure it by myself. I just need to find a video as I didn't even know that I can measure it by myself
  19. I was about to start a long journey (almost 1k miles one way - they didn't know it) and was a bit worried once they told me that. Can I measure the size of the brake pads by myself ? If so how do I do that ?
  20. Hi everyone, when I had a service some time ago, the service man told me that the brake pads are worn 80% and asked me whether I want to replace them (and I said yes). The mileage of the car (7 seater, diesel) was 50k miles. I know that the distance after which you have to replace the pads can vary and depends on the driving style but is the 50k miles reasonable distance when it could happen ? Thanks
  21. I've just called them - the last visit was the major (variable). This one will be a minor (with brake fluid change as they said).
  22. My car is 2019 diesel with ~49k mileage. I've just checked the last bill from the "inspection/service" (it was carried out in October 2022) and it says: *VAR2 Carried out 2nd Variable service using Long Life Oil Re-set reminder to Variable (and below there is an additional stuff like CLEANER, FILTERELEM, etc...) I cannot find in the invoice whether is was basic (minor) or extended (full/major) service. How do I find it out ? Do I have to call them ? Also what depends on if it was basic or extended ?
  23. (I apologize for the delay - I was again away for a while) To answer your questions about type of last service (minor vs extended) I need to look at the document I was given after the last service - will do that tonight. So in general I don't need to go for the service and it is up to me ? The car had 4-years warranty that ended before summer holiday. My wife asked me this question today and I didn't have clear answer: what is the technical difference between MOT and this service ? I know that one, MOT, will allow you (or not ...) to drive the car from the legal point of view. But do they check more or less the same parts (tyres, filters, etc) ? While doing MOT do they connect to car's computer ? For me the answer is obvious (they are not the same) but when I started thinking about the low level technical differences I don;t have reliable answer.
  24. Hello everyone, I have a message in my Kodiaq "Inspection in X days". We have this car for over 4 years and not on warranty any more. What do you recommend to do now ? I mean I will go for the inspection obviously but ... should I buy some sort of service before that ?
  25. Hello all, does Kodiaq store anywhere a history of when it gets refueled ?
