  1. I bought some chrome ones on eBay - don't fit. Too tight. The genuine ones are tricky to align but once you have the knack I found all my push on nicely and not loosely . I think the plastic used has a bit of give in it to flex and help the cover align. The eBay ones just would not go one with the same approach - so they are going back. eBay ones made in China with no id inside the covers. Tolerances too tight and probably plastic too rigid. Reason for replacing - most of the dull grey ones have white marks - caused by an acidic wheel cleaner I believe from another thread.
  2. What make/model are the bike fork mounts? I am looking to put 2 bikes in the back - both have full mudguards front and back so will be interesting. Also will need some kind of boot protection, e.g. fabric boot liner to keep the boot clean and maybe backed by cardboard (from house removal boxes) to prevent scratches, etc.). So your info is a useful start.
  3. Now done 2500 miles. Ave mpg is 32-35mpg and is calculated on an Excel spreadsheet by recording petrol cost, no of litres bough and the mileage at each fill. About 200 miles is motorway. The balance is 10-20 miles journeys on out of town A road. I do no use the ECO mode although it does come on from time to time when coasting or slowing down. The auto start is usually off as it is a pain in car parks and at some roundabouts. I do not rely on the Karoq computer as I believe it's mpg for a trip is misleading and appears to be 10mpg higher.
  4. Here is a Link to the T Roc forum post (on 20 July and 4 pages added since that post) - https://trocforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=13746 Text is.. " Hi guys, Hugo Griffiths from Auto Express has contacted me, They are looking to do a story on this issue and are looking to use my car as case study ,It may be worth sending him details of your experience with this issue to highlight the extent of this problem , contact him at [email protected] "
  5. Does anyone know which factory/factories produce the 1.5 TSI engine and has the production now ceased? If production has now ceased then will this engine drop out of the VW/Seat/Skoda/Audi overall company CO2 emissions figures and therefore perhaps the problem can be solved by new version(s) of the ECU software which puts more fuel in at the 'problem' times and thus a stronger mixer and VW group don't have to worry about the CO2 figures?
  6. The fix for "hesitation". Does it have a proper name, or release number, or part number, etc that can be quoted? And does it state for which engines, gearboxes and model years, etc it is applicable to? Or is a bland "we have a fix, bring your car in, they install it"?
  7. We have a Karoq 1.5 DSG which we bought about 3 weeks ago (07 May 2019) with 4389 miles on the clock and registered 30 Nov 2018. We have now driven 1000 miles. It replaced a 08 Honda Jazz 1.3 CVT. It exhibits the non-smooth running for the first 200m or so when cold and is then ok. Our road a cul-de-sac a new development, a bit pack em all, so the road width is minimised, and is a downhill slope for 200 metres falling 15 metres with multiple turns down to the next road. The car is parked on our sloping drive facing downhill to our road. The rear bumper is about 1 foot higher than the front bumper. So when you press the accelerator, the car moves off quickly. The drive is the length of the car, so it is an immediate put the brakes part on and turn 90 degree left onto the road - then travel 20 metres and 90 degree, right turn, then 60 metres and 90 degree braking left turn, then 30 metres, 90 degree braking right turn, then 90 metres and brake for a 45 degree left and 45 degree right type chicane (stops you arriving at the next road in a hurry!) then a 90 degree left or right exit into the main road. So at this point the engine has had no work to do but manages to run unevenly/ a bit rough and has not got above 2nd gear. Once on the main road, we can pull away up the gears to 30mph and the performance is ok - no rough running. Down our road, the Karoq is a much worse performer than our previous 08 Honda Jazz 1.3 CVT and our Y reg Vauxhall Agila 1.2 manual - both these travel smoothly regardless of starting temperature. It was not apparent on the test drive at the dealer's but then we sat in the car with engine running for 15 minutes whilst the salesperson went through a lot of stuff, particularly playing with the smart screen etc - so the engine was therefore warm when we set off. I have the engine no (starts DADA) from the Service History Certificate. I have also found a sticker on the engine (on what looks like a belt cover, driver's side) which has a number matching the engine number but starts DAD and preceded by MKB (i.e. Czech, Skoda) and also a date (24.10.18) and time stamp (07:07) - might that be the build date and thus build week number? How do you find out the software version number? The cold start aside, this is a lovely car. It appears to manage more mpg (above 40mpg) than the 1.3 Jazz (about 36 mpg) and the 1.2 Agila (about 1.2mpg) - a high proportion of rural A roads and motorway and not much town stop/start and certainly no London type stop/start/stop/start.....
  8. Also, I bought GAP insurance but not from the dealer but online from Admiral and saved £200. The car has the puncture repair spray kit option so will be looking at the various spare wheel thread(s). And maybe mudflaps.
  9. Hello, We now have a 68 reg Karoq, 1.5 SE L DST which replaced a 08 Honda Jazz 1.3 CVT. The Jazz was getting on - we bought as ex-demo with a view to keeping for about 10 years and kept it 11 years as we needed a change and traded it in. We needed something which was more comfortable given the state of many roads, not diesel, seating a bit higher and thus not going down into the car when getting in, a good headroom (for taller people which was a main reason for buying a Jazz), flexible room and a bit bigger all round. So we spent a few months looking at all the suitable manufacturers, visited half a dozed dealers and sat in various similar cars and then shortlisted the VW Tiguan, SEAT Ateca and Skoda Karoq. After reading various reviews and comparisons, we put the Karoq first. The SEAT, described as sporty and thus firmer suspension was less favourable than the softer suspension of the Karoq and the VW was +£5k more for whatever you wanted. So we visited the dealer for a test drive and it was ok, it was the right spec, and almost brand new - 5 months old, just under 5k miles and a good saving so we bought it. The ride is softer than the Jazz, and it has some oomph. The DSG performance and ride is similar to a Mondeo 2.0 petrol auto estate from 200 that my parent had and that was a lovely smooth ride. Since buying I have found this forum with the multiple comments about 1.5 kangarooing - but we have the DSG. It does not kangaroo. However for the first 200 yards it is slight tough when cold and then ok. The first 200 yards are downhill (very slight), and 7 90 degree bends so you don't get out of 2nd gear and it seems the engineer/gearbox is trying to work out how to run. By comparison the Jazz CVT ran smoothly and our 2001 Vauxhall Agila 1.2 manual runs smoothly over this section. So like some owners suggest, maybe the DSG masks the issues and we will be watching this space!
