  1. Thanks for the reply and that sounds like a good approach, its £15 for the stalk and £8 for the switch plus postage, so buying and swapping out before spending £'s with an auto electrician seems a good plan. Sorry to hear about the Octavia gearbox - I bought a gearboxfor my superb off a A3 Audi DIY breaker on facebook for £150, think the garage charged me about £300-400 to fit, so not as bad as I was expecting, but I was lucky. Thanks again.
  2. Hi Daz, what did you do to sort this? I'm having problems with my Superb mk2 and wondering about swapping out the stalk (which didn't need cleaning and even though no fault codes).
  3. I have just been back to the garage again this morning with my intermittant fault (Superb mk2), as I have a long road trip to Spain in about 2 weeks time... Garage plugged the car into fault code reader, cleared all the faults down (including steering column angle position?) and I left with it 'working.' Went for a quick test on M1 and after 5 minutes, I changed gear and that was it, not coming back on. I drove back to the garage and as I pulled in it started to work again! Checked on fault reader, no codes. Battery disconnected for 10 mins, reconnected no fault codes. Garage don't want to send me to auto electrician, as there is nothing they can see to fix!? Left with CC working and arrived home without it. I'm so frustrated, should I just try taking apart the steering column and wheel and seeing if I can find a loose cable?
  4. Thanks so much! I'm towing a caravan around the UK in celebration of Covid restrictions, so maxing at 8 would seem a good plan? Thanks again.
  5. This is useful for me too, as I'm at 140k miles on a 2010 4x4. My handbook says rough road (for the 4x4?) suspension clearance should be at 158mm, but I'm not sure where that's measured? Also where to find codes for chassis type?
  6. I'm following the excellent Octavia guide to clean my Superb cruise control switch, but it's different and doesn't look like it comes apart to clean! Any ideas please?
  7. Thanks so much, that sounds like a really good plan. I have given it another spray of WD40 to soak in overnight and will try tomorrow. Jiggling one while pushing the other sounds best, and this part made me laugh!
  8. Great, thank you. I have sprayed everything with WD40, but that knob is not going in... should I keep soaking it and try again or maybe try a gentle tap with a hammer? Thanks again.
  9. Hi, I have a Mark II 2011 Superb 4x4 estate with the factory fitted towbar (which I think is a Westfalia?) It's the removable version, but.... I've never been able to remove it! I found some instructions on the interwebs, I'm not sure if these are for this version, which is apparently unusual. 1. Turn key anti-clockwise. 2. Pull out knob. 3. Turn key back clockwise. 4. Push down on handle and remove towbar. The key turns OK and the knob turns, but won't push in or pull out. There is 6-8mm of green showing behind the knob, which I don't want to break off. Any ideas please? Thanks.
