  1. Can't say I blame you, love my Enyaq, but the i5 deals look great. I'm thinking about an i350 when my Enyaq goes back, 550 mile range, 400kW fast charging, 645Nm. Technology is moving so fast in the EV market. Fast charge 250 miles in 10 mins etc.
  2. I'd like to see someone drag an 85 and an 85x, I don't believe they're the same 0-60, I know it doesn't matter, but the fact they're claimed the same irks me ha ha.
  3. As above, the 85x is faster charging than the RWD. Based on a few YT reviews I watched before mine arrived, the 85x is 'more different' than the 85 than just an extra motor. I wish I could remember the exact differences they gave, but it's something along the lines of a newer generation of battery / controller. I got the impression that in typical VW Group fashion, it's purposely kept vague because it would upset their hierarchy of brands / models.
  4. No worries, you'll have to excuse the mess, I'm a mountain biker and everything I own is covered in mud all winter.
  5. Fundamentally I'd say no, not a chance. Even if all VWG MEB platform cars used the same battery (not sure they do) then I don't anyone is going to develop an after market upgrade for it, let alone all the various system updates needed to make it work. The labour cost would also be huge. The 'next gen' EVs like the Mercedes CLA 350, the BMW and the Volvo are pretty exciting, 400 mile+ ranges with 300kW+ charging really is the next step. I'm sure VW will join soon, maybe it's Porsche and Audi holding the rest back, Taycan and E-tron GT have had faster charging for years, but VW always seems hamstrung because they insist on keeping the best stuff within the premium brands and the PPE platform. Personally I've only had one issue with fast / public chargers, and it was due to the Cloudflare issue, but if I'd downloaded the BP app ahead of time I might have not suffered. Locally the best chargers aren't in motorway services, but in Hotels just off motorway junctions, they're quieter too. Maybe, just maybe Dounut Labs claims are mostly true and it'll all become obsolete. We'll have 200kWh batteries which can full charge in 5 mins and will be lighter, smaller and safer than what we have now... That would be nice.
  6. I've got a facelift 85x Sportline. Drives incredibly well, smooth, fast 'enough' obviously super responsive. The seats are a masterpiece IMHO, super comfortable, supportive, heaters work well. Heated steering wheel is the 'silly option' which is turns out I love. Range is good, sub 5c it's okay, 10c it's good, looking forward to some warmer weather to see what it can do. Surprisingly agile for a 2t SUV. Canton system sounds great. Wireless Apple Play is quick to connect at works well. I think it looks great. It's easier to list the things I don't like, this is really nit picking as I'm ADHD and I notice EVERYTHING, stuff most people wouldn't notice or care about: The seat massager button is in an odd place, feels like an after-thought. It also takes a really long time to start working which makes me think I haven't quite pressed the button. The Auto boot opening thing doesn't seem to work for ages even if I've going at it like Michael Flatley, but walk around the back of it to get to the drivers door and every single time without fail it'll open when I don't want it to. I'll turn the function off if I ever remember. There's nowhere in the boot or filler door to store the ice scraper, major Skoda Faux Pas! No Sunglass storage in the ceiling. Infotainment is complex and illogical with two 'home' menus, one is for the car, the other seems to be for the infotainment, but some functions don't sit where I would put them. Screen points slightly toward the passenger. Skoda dealer told me it was to encourage the passenger to do that so the driver can concentrate on driving, but I know it's because they didn't change it when the made the RHD ones. Heads-up appears to be slightly skew, but it might be because the dash curves. Meteor grey is super boring IMHO, everyone else seems to love it, but I don't. It's the only option I could get to keep the RRP below £50k for the tax break. The rear of the vehicle is a generation behind the front in terms of looks. They say the wireless charging mat is cooled, I'm not sure that's true, I believe there's just a vent to the normal HVAC output so in winter it's actually heated, but I can't be sure. Only one my phone complained it was too warm to charge wirelessly.
  7. How is everyone getting on with theirs? I've had my Enyaq about 10 days now and erm... I can't seem to make much sense of it. So many menus and sub menus that don't seem to be all that logical in their design. It's not distracting from the experience, it's such a laid back, relaxed way to get around, but for me... it's just too complex to use whilst moving and if I was being hyper critical, it's a bit too big and the left of the screen too far away to use safely when driving.
  8. Had an update from Skoda that mine is coming early Jan, possibly late Dec so that's nice. I'm mostly looking forward to it, it's hard not to sound a bit spoilt being a bit half-hearted about a brand new car and a nice spec one at that, but I'll miss my Golf. Not helped that I'm doing it because of the break down of my marriage and needing to save any money I can.
  9. After 3.5 wonderful years with my Golf R Estate, I've given up the car allowance and ordered a new Enyaq Sportline Company Car. The Golf is fantastic, but I couldn't live with the 42% deductions on the car allowance, the low-20s MPG (sometimes sub 20 in traffic) the 99 ron fuel, the £900 a year insurance cost etc etc etc. It's coming in Jan, it's Meteor Grey, I wanted Racing Blue, but my allowance just wouldn't stretch that far, otherwise standard facelift Sportline so I'm delighted it comes with Canton, heating wheel and a couple of other things I wasn't expecting. Haven't even driven one, I've sat in one in the showroom, but Skoda Cardiff didn't seem to want to talk to me despite me kicking the tyres for 20 mins. I did buy my Superb from them, but that was a good few years ago. I'm expecting a Superb like experience, but quieter, less engaging (somehow) but mostly, once I've got a home charger installed and switch tariffs I'd like to stop having to spend £300+ a month on fuel. All told, it's going to save me £500 a month, at least until they change their mind on tax rules etc.
  10. Made the trip down to Morzine. Superb didn’t skip a beat, in fact was going a bit too well and I coped a €90 fine for speeding.
  11. About 3k miles from the last set of fronts, and it's a 4x4! Tyre place royally screwed up the alignment... Anyway, I bought it on 32k miles and was wearing P7s on the rear with the year of manufacture matching the car, which seemed impressive. I'm hoping to get 15k miles out of this lot, they're Avon ZV7s which are sold as Summer Sports tyres, the sort of thing you'd fit to M3s, RS Audis etc, but the reviews aren't that kind to them in that sort of application as they don't handle continued high load / heat as well as the likes of Michelin Pilot Sports etc but they sound perfect for a Dad car with 19" wheels.
  12. I doubt there's any difference between Skoda / VW, same boxes, made in the same factory, mounted to the same engines. Any differences will be down to the Car, but as most VW share MQB now, differences will be minor to say the least. As others have said, differences between the different types of DSG boxes though. My wife has a 1.5Tdi Kamiq with a 7 speed ( I think it's 'Dry', it doesn't have 'Launch Control' anyway - no one tell her I checked). It's a beautifully smooth car to drive, utterly seamless, surprisingly thirsty for a small car though. I've got a 190Tdi Superb 4x4 with the older 6 speed. I'll admit its not quite as smooth, especially when cold, that might be down the diesel engine, the 4x4 or the overly firm suspension. I wouldn't call it jerky, even with a stone cold engine and -5c ambient temp it pulls away far smoother than most experienced drivers could manage with a manual, but not quite as smooth as a true auto with a torque converter. Where is not great is driving around town in the cold, it's pretty hilly where I live and it gets confused what gear it wants going up and down hill sometimes, most of the time you don't notice but as we're on the pilot scheme for the new 20mph limit for all residential roads (I'll give you a hint, it's a pain) 10 mins into your journey though and it's fine again. RE: Hesitation away of the line, I think it's down to two things, 1) in normal circumstances, warm engine, flat road, it will try to pull away in 2nd. If you're at a busy junction and need to pull away quickly, it will try second, which is pretty slow, driver thinks "this too slow!" puts foot down a bit more, Car responds by dropping to first, causing a small delay compounding it, until it flies off. I've gotten into the habit of pulling the lever back to go into Sport to fix this, always pulls of in first then and throttle response is quicker. 2) Like all autos there's no easy way to build revs before you pull off, in a diesel especially there's always a bit of a lag. Make no mistake, DSG can launch really, really, quickly, ludicrously so, my 4x4 can launch faster than either of my Friends RS6s, for about a car length you understand and if you want to go fill pollock mode, there's always Launch Control, it feels like it would cause damage, but it supposedly doesn't I've only done it once.
  13. Oh fantastic, thanks for the link.
  14. Thanks, they look great. It seems easy enough to get the emblems in gloss black, apparently the Monte Carlo models have black badges and they’re the same size as Superb ones. Not so easy to get Skoda or Superb in black in the correct font for S3 and the 4x4 badge doesn’t seem to be available at all... I might try to source OEM ‘chrome’ badges and plastic coat them.
  15. Has anyone found / fitted black badging to their Superb? I've got the earlier Superb III Sportline with the black Spoiler, I'd to replace the emblem, Skoda, Superb and 4x4 badge with good quality black ones. Has anyone done it, where did you gets yours from?
  16. That’s it. It’s only a bit of a pipe dream really, but I heard on some Fords and Toyotas the whole Climate system is built into the controller and all systems use the same heater box /AC unit. Upgrading it merely a case of buying the dash unit. She wants heated seats next 😉
  17. My Wife has had her Kamiq for a few months now. She loves it, it’s a 1.5TSI DSG SE. She’d loves it, but she’d love climate, can it be retrofitted by upgrading the control panel?
  18. Thanks for the info all. It's the fronts, the rears I changed back in Feb appeared to be the original P7s. I've made a complaint to 'Tyre Shopper' / National Tyres, I'm no Lewis Button so I shouldn't be going through tyres in 3000 miles, I can only assume they royally screwed up the tracking. I don't suppose I'll get any joy from them, but they're not exactly cheap tyres - with the tracking the fronts alone were £350. The FWD wouldn't have a different tracking set-up to the 4x4 would it? I can't imagine how they ballsed it up so much.
  19. Had new Tyres fitted 28/3/20, I almost got caught out, It's not easy to see the inside of the tyres on my Sportline, but the inside was down to the wire/canvass. Took it to National Tyres (I think) they told my the alignment was out, so £500 for 4 tyres and the alignment later and it drove like a dream. Caught a glimpse of them this morning, that doesn't look right. So 4 months and maybe 3000 miles later... Any suggestions? When we're not on lock down I do about 15k miles a year. It's a 190 4x4 DSG Sportline hatch.
