  1. Yeah based on info from elsewhere it sounds like a huge job. You're thinking of doing it yourself? Do you have any insight into if it's possible to properly isolate and test the evaporator? It seems like this is a crucial piece of information that people don't get - like how is it possible that condensors get replaced without the workshop having diagnosed that that's where the issue is? I'm wondering why it's not done, or is hard to do?
  2. Hi All! Partner took her '16 Fabia Mk3 (1.2 Petrol) to KwikFit to get a regas. I don't love KwikFit but she likes them and there's one rated 4.7 on Google which I'm always surprised by. They did the regas for £75 and it worked for a day or so (without noticing any bad noise) and now when turned on makes a loud version of that fridge/aircon kind of sound - a high pitched fan/fridge noise that I associate with AC in cars and doesn't blow cold at all. There's also a smell which I would say smells like air blowing through old rubber tubes, like the smell of inner tube rubber. Things I'm trying to work out are: any possible diagnoses or partial diagnoses of what might be up, or known issues with this car? Anything else I can do to diagnose. I am oil-change level of ability and handy so can check basics, could also read the codes if it helps. What to do next? Is it a case of finding a place with specialist aircon equipment? And if anyone knows a good place for taking a Fabia for aircon work in Sheffield recommendations much appreciated. Thanks! ob
  3. @Breezy_Pete @James@RRG_Skoda_Rochdale could you give me manufacture date for my MKIII Octavia pls? TMBKJ7NE5F0041008 Thanks!
  4. Today at the best time - on the way to work in the rush hour - my MkIII 2.0TDI Octy conked out quite suddenly in the middle of the road, and didn't start again. No warning signs at all, no lights on dashboard no warnings on the screen/dash. I'm looking for help diagnosing - it's at a friend's garage who's a good basic mechanic, but not up on ECU/error code stuff, so looking for help with how to diagnose/fix this before I give in and take it to a Skoda expert. I've got the error codes from a scan today from the AA who towed me to the garage. Any and all advice on this much appreciated! symptoms and error codes below ob Symptoms: - When turning the ignition the engine starts but cuts out immediately within about a second or two. - It is possible to rev it quite hard, but it conks after about the same amount of time as if you don't rev it hard - No obvious mechanical faults, 3/4 tank diesel. - Last oil service 7 months ago Error Codes: System : Engine management - VEH / Engine management EDC 17C64 UDS Status :U112300 - Data bus. 5. Hi, need to get both of these things done and just want a price-check on what they should cost from a decent garage. Edit: should have specified, 2014 Octavia MK III, 2.0 TDI CR Thanks! ob
  6. Thanks but those aren't the same as the one in the pic in my first post. Do you have reason to believe they're compatible even though they're not the same?
  7. ECP? Are you sure? Can you link me to ECP if it comes up for you or tell me what you search for, didn't come up for me. Cheers! There's no quick ebay/amazon ones i found. I've had a trawl through the google results and https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/ seems best but still potentially couple of days to arrive.
  8. Ta, that was where I got it from so hope it's the right one. Now just got to find one!
  9. Hi All, Can anyone confirm if 06K103485A is the correct part number for oil filler cap for 2014 MK III 2.0 TDI. Or can someone tell me if this look like their oil filler cap: https://www.lllparts.co.uk/product/volkswagen-06k103485a-end-cap/mpn/06k103485a And where can I get one on short notice? I was assuming GSF/ECP would have a suitable OEM replacement but they bring up nothing. Cheers! ob
