  1. So my nearly month old Octavia vrs estate petrol has its first issue and its kind of a biggy given I found the issue at the petrol station. The flap just won’t open. Assume it’s a push in to open job - I’ve opened it three times so I can’t be imagining it - but there is nothing in any pressing position that suggests it’s going to pop back out. boot doesn’t appear to have anything obvious at all to get in via some sort of backup. Help guys!!! Assume the car comes with breakdown will they come out for this do you think? Thanks in advance. Alan
  2. I posted the link I used for original Skoda items on eBay. For perfect. Wouldn’t look elsewhere until you don’t like the factory items and prefer a longer mudflap or something. JSTARRAW92 on eBay is the seller with seemingly everything Skoda oem.
  3. Same seller possibly same items. Seem to be! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295546193019?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=iEkp6CyTTNm&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=C4UJjQscR1e&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  4. I loved my 68 plate 1.5tsi sel hatch apart from its rear boot hatch rattled from the start. On and off as well. But my new vRS estate is game changing. Leagues ahead on build quality and perceived interior quality. I’m brand new to DSG and I am a fan of it 90% of the time but still crave a manual. All the people who’ve had a look round it have said the same - can’t believe this is a Skoda it’s actually desirable. It’s insanely comfortable and more refined and quiet on the road than my 1.5 was. I have DCC and it’s I think priceless - not tried one without but it rides so well whilst still being sporty. I’ve hung up my racing suit (civic type r, jcw cooper s, m3 and boxster s came before the family cars) but it still gives you some of that satisfaction without the drama. Hate the super quiet exhaust as many have said but I suppose in a way it’s good to not be shouty. The fact you can’t set the default driver mode is a massive annoyance surprisingly even though it’s only one button and a touch screen press away it does and will drive you mad too. The virtual dash is superb but I wish it was a bit more like my old Skodas to navigate through it’s far more distracting. Though to be fair maybe I’m not used it it yet. Rear estate boot doesn’t seem as big let alone bigger than my old hatch though what’s that about! It’s gonna be a long period of ownership all being well but up to now I feel great getting in to drive it which previously only my Porsche and BMWs have given me every single day I used them. Crap turning circle and my jcw was driven very very hard but still returned better MPG - actually going to stop now before I start regretting it after all 😂
  5. @FatWolfie on my mobile so searching not ideal, how does one turn the fake sound to zero? As in all the time or just via modes? I am sick of switching modes on every start
  6. Don’t know what amazes me more. The lack of drilling or the fact you guys have had your cars for more than 2 years. I’d literally seen a whole single vrs on the road until I got mine. Mind you seen 2 others since always the way! Cheers guys will do the fronts when I get time this weekend 👍
  7. When you fit if you fancy taking pictures and posting that would be fantastic. Rears too I was left scratching my head completely with the little metal clips and screw. Assume to fix to the fabric liner but no clue to be honest so didn’t use them 🤦🏻‍♂️
  8. Thanks to a great tipoff on this forum, I picked up the original (or exceptional fakes!) Skoda mudflaps on eBay for about half retail price. Just opened them and spotted my worst nightmare - use of drill required. For the front ones anyway. Anybody fitted without a drill? A life hack for the wimps of this world who can't handle a power tool I can't say I'm comfortable drilling a new car is all. Real shame they couldn't think about making the holes at the factory, I mean to me it's mind boggling you need one drilled hole the rest are pre-drilled! Thanks in advance!
  9. Imagine how I felt - ordered the car blind - no demo cars, so no test drives, nothing. Came from a Mini Cooper S JCW. My god is the vRS quiet. My god is that stupid fake sound annoying. But you know what, kind of agree with some of the comments, I went from something clearly not practical to a more one-car-fits-all family estate and it's refinement in the car even when pressing on is quite pleasant. Still, even at 42, wish there was a '**** the neighbours off' button too!
  10. Hi, simple and probably stupid question. Just got my vRS estate, with lovely black roof rails running along the length of the roof. Question then - if I fit a roof rack, these are getting scratched right? Surely they thought of this? Really can't see how they fit without ruining the look of the rails but maybe I am completely wrong - hope so! Any pics of any fitted much appreciated if there's a way of fitting them without damaging the rail finish. Thanks in advance! Alan
  11. Exciting stuff! Don't want to jinx but mine was at the dealer less than 10 days after it was showing at port in Germany, hopefully you get the new plate without any drama.
  12. Looks way shinier than mine Which wax did you use specifically? A Polish with wax in it? Also the mudflaps, what are the part codes/ref for these that's a cracking idea. Assume real easy to fit?
  13. Just picked mine up! Bit of a disappointment not getting a delivery on the new plate, but Skoda customer services pretty much said no chance mate when I escalated my complaint so it is what it is. Superb car on first impressions really enjoyed the 55mile or so trip back from the dealer got to know it a bit and with dcc is no less comfortable than my old 1.5tsi. Good luck to everyone still waiting the dealer said Octavia are a nightmare loads of alternative models with much shorter lead times but just sucks what’s going on right now. I was told my order (march 28 2022) was a cancellation car that was originally placed august 2021 not convinced that’s entirely true but hang in there people. Pics to follow when I can.
  14. To be fair I am being told it’s Skoda uk that insist on the sale going through within 14 days of landing at dealer otherwise their price guarantee cannot be honoured. I am not personally bothered about the latest plate for status but you’re bang on I won’t be convinced otherwise, the world devalues the older plate regardless of the fact the car is weeks apart in some cases. What is now really getting me down though is the fact that if that’s true and I can’t get them to budge, I either get it in the next week and feel aggrieved, or pay well over a grand more to get it registered next month. Typical after all this time for this to happen.
  15. I have an update first then a question... 2 weeks ago ish I posted on here that the car is in the port in Germany. Update yesterday, the car has been on the boat, arrived at docks in the UK, cleared the checks and is now on it's way to the dealer. This should be great news but here's my question... - Would you insist on registering the car on March 1st if you were me? New plate and all? I get the impression that the dealer wants it in, registered and turned around ASAP. I was originally told August delivery and they'd happily register on 1st Sep for me. I really feel like there's nobody who will ever prefer the older plate car come resale, even if the reg date is 2 weeks apart. Always gonna be a factor. Thoughts? I don't suppose I have any leverage over the dealer either?
  16. I just had a message saying it's arrived at the port in Europe. Status 38? Does anybody in the UK know from experience how long approx it will be from there? I am guessing I will miss the new March plate now - sods law, typical! But hey I will take a car on any plate right now
  17. Hold the front page. Just chased, got a new contact at the dealer as my salesman has gone to sell house in the USA instead! Anyway, he says STATUS 30 for my car now, which is in transit to port. If that's true, who in the UK can give me a rough idea of how slow the ports are getting cars into UK dealers? I am baffled that if this is true, why they wouldn't tell me that - I've only been asking for this kind of progress update since August! Oh and for the record I don't believe my Petrol VRS order is held up to drive EV sales - nonsense. I can't get an EV or Hybrid either. I am a touch more excited than I was this morning, I do hope this is accurate info.
  18. Also, the factory going on holiday/shutdowns - the parts aren't there I honestly don't know how the car industry as well as the dealerships are still afloat. If all of us and the rest of the world are waiting for their cars, it's not because the factories workforce are slacking off and taking longer lunches. Worlds gone mad. Bound to be Boris' fault
  19. Delivery time topic has gone all electric! I am also stuck with a perfectly reliable and entirely suitable car but it's due it's biggest service yet in a few months. I'm going to put a load of cash into it and then have to sell it or trade it in, so annoying. But cancel my order and I don't get the car I wanted, and if I get something else, it'll easily swallow the cash I'd have sunk into this car anyway, so I have no choice but to wait. But I now hear people are having orders cancelled (Not skoda, info from my employers car scheme partner) so if that happens I'll be livid. If it wasn't raining so heavy outside, I'd consider my next skoda to be a bike!
  20. Sorry if I missed a note on this in previous replies... My VRS order is specified with a parking / reversing camera, and dymanic chassis. I notice the brochure for Dec 22 in the UK and the configurator no longer allows the camera. Bonkers that it was never standard to be fair, so many cars put one on now, but to be not even an option? Is this why I am waiting then? Silly question no doubt, but surely Skodas and VW group cars are still running cameras? Does anybody that's taken delivery in the UK recently have a camera, or been told it won't have one?
  21. You know what, with my luck, the last day before the cars are all facelift models, mine will arrive. And it’ll be registered the week before the next new plate 🤦🏻‍♂️ I have to get the Octavia 1.5 serviced in feb too, gutted, that’ll cost me a fair chunk only to trade it in shortly after all being well. Grrr.
  22. Well I got the USB power bank in the post as an apology and thank you for patience, as somebody else posted earlier this month. Dealer gone largely quiet and when I chased them they were apologetic and I feel for them to be honest not being able to give anybody good news, but I’m still annoyed. Was told November collection, then early December, now January earliest. I guess it’ll be whenever it will be, but the question now is do I even wait. I’ll be another year closer to the dreaded EOL of petrol engines by the time my all petrol vrs arrives. I’m gonna see if I hear anything in January but if not I may have to do the dealer a favour and pull out. And then no doubt regret it immensely.
  23. My order was placed in late March 2022 - VRS 2l petrol DSG estate with DCC and camera. The order was for a car that was already ordered back in October 2021, I am lead to believe, so I was jumping the queue. The promised delivery of "September 2022 or sooner" is not happening. I have been given a build week now though - Week 40 or 3rd October this year. I will see. Mixed emotions as I turned down a car in late 2021 as I was nervous about buying a car I've never driven - ironically that would almost certainly have been with me by now, instead I waited around 5 months, paid more money, and still ordered one without a drive first. You live and learn... Eek! Like many, I am frustrated with the wait and have a current car to sell on, but I'm grateful it's mine to sell once the loan is repaid so I can technically wait. Doesn't help that I've had to service MOT and put tyres on it in the mean time but it's no longer worth me pulling out, as I will still want and need a new car. Hugely disappointed to hear about facelift models coming, I would say though that this is so rare on UK roads as far as I can tell, I'm hopeful it won't matter too much. Plus unless waiting times decrease a lot, it'll be another year before they hit the roads I hope. Still - bitter taste in my mouth having heard rumours about it being out next year. Anyone got a decent few photos of a blue estate vrs to keep me positive in the mean time Cheers all.
  24. Also interested to see if there’s any update on this one? My 2018 1.5 SE L is the prefect practical car but it’s disappointing me on so many levels recently. All build quality wise really. Noises and knocks. The steering recently at low speed keeps clunking or creaking and they just replaced a front ns damper that was weeping a bit as the suspected cause. It isn’t! It didn’t do it 6 months ago. And now I can’t stop hearing it. It’s worsened so much I can’t ignore it - warranty expires November. Grrr
