  1. I bought my Karoq approved used last year March from the dealership. Current mileage - approx 53k The MOT has just expired, I didn't realise it would need it now. I'm not sure what service it needs next and if I should do the service now with MOT or wait until I get the service indicator flash. Also, would you recommend servicing and MOT with Skoda or local garage? The service history so far is: Service History 14/03/2023 Used Car MPC 46,230 14/03/2023 Oil Change Service 46,230 14/03/2023 Interval Inspection 46,230 14/03/2023 Brake Fluid Change 46,230 20/12/2022 MOT (passed) 45,182 20/12/2022 Cambelt Change 45,182 21/07/2022 Oil Change Service 41,366 22/12/2021 MOT (passed) 37,689 20/07/2021 Oil Change Service 34,764 20/07/2021 Brake Fluid Change 34,764 22/12/2020 MOT (passed) 32,166 04/07/2020 Oil Change Service 29,010 20/06/2019 Oil Change Service 19,439 01/11/2018 Oil Change Service 9,827 01/11/2018 Interval Service 9,827
  2. So I got new tyres fitted at Costco, Michelin CrossClimates all round. But with the battery recharge, it's difficult for me because I live in flats on a busy road, so I would have to take the battery out of the car to recharge it. But if the battery is disconnected, the car won't lock. Is it worth buying an extra battery and new charger then alternating between the two batteries? My car has start / stop - would this make it more difficult to recharge?
  3. Hi everyone, I have 2016 skoda fabia which has had everything go wrong with it recently. The engine light came on, it keeps thinking my tail light isn't working, needs new tyres all around, and the catalytic converter failed at the last mot at 1 garage. And the scroll wheel on the right side of the steering doesn't work. It's only done 42k miles 😑 and had regular services and everything. I had a friend of mine use his obd2 reader to show me the codes but I don't know what they mean. Can you guys explain to me what the problems are and how much they'll cost to fix? And are they even worth fixing? Thanks in advance 😊
  4. Went back to the guy at the first garage and he said they didn't print the results either time so don't have a print out
  5. Thanks I'll definitely be picking those up tomorrow.
  6. I have those but there's no where to stick the front passenger lights. Because under the glove box is sort of a crosshatch plastic net thing, it keeps falling off. (using double sided tape)
  7. I'm actually jumping for joy that I don't have to fork out hundreds of pounds to pass the mot on my almost new car. The relief is stupendous. I don't have the results (didn't even think of it in the shock and confusion to be honest) from the first garage, as they were closed by the time I got back today, but I will definitely try and get the printout from him tomorrow if he still has it. Will update if I get it.
  8. It's just passed with no advisories at all. I've attached the emissions report. Can anyone translate this for me? Is it barely passing or was the other guy just plain wrong?
  9. Took it to a different garage just now after work and it's passing emissions without me doing anything to it
  10. Yes that's correct. The MOT tester is a local branch, literally outside my house, and my cousin who's worked as a mechanic before, knows him through trade and recommended him to me. No engine lights or anything. Car has been working completely. Just had oil and oil filter change before MOT. About 70% driving on urban trips and the rest on motorways, so it does go up to 60/70 mph quite a bit. (about once every 2 weeks)
  11. REG: OS09NYA Hi Everyone, My fabia's MOT was due recently and I took it to a nearby garage and they tested it a couple of times, and said the car failed the MOT on emissions. I was a bit surprised as it's only a 2016 car. The official reason was Now, he's saying the catalytic converter needs to be replaced and I can either go for a manufacturer part at £1420 or aftermarket part at £540 + £150 labour (whichever part I go with). How likely is it that he's not trying to rip me off or his machines not working properly? Is the price he's quoted me a decent price? Does it really need a catalytic converter replacement? Any advice would be helpful, because I really don't want to go broke fixing my almost new car. Thanks Sonya
  12. found the issue with the sound - my bass/treble balance was messed up (had the bass cranked up)
  13. When I connect to android auto via USB I have no issues. And the Bluetooth issues are constant now. As soon as I connect the music plays for 1 sec then its buzzing, beeping, feedback noises, and no music. Unless I pause play, it doesn't go back to normal
  14. I have a 16 Fabia and the car is due a service and mot. Had a major service last april and I got the car last august. Recently the bluetooth has started cutting out or dropping in volume a lot. Just randomly, the music will be playing and then suddenly, the volume drops to 10% of what it was (like it does if I was reversing, but quieter) and the volume won't go back up unless I pause and play the music again. Occaisonally, it will cut out too or very rarely, give feedback noise instead. Also, recently went for a health check at quickfit, and they said everything was fine (except needing wheel re-alignment). Since then everytime I turn the ac on, it makes a hissing sound. Is something loose or does it just need refilling? How often does ac need regassing anyway? Any advice is appreciated. Cheers!
