Superb Mk3 Custom high spec tweeter upgrade
Hi. Yes, still available. I’ve looked in my photo library and don’t have any more pics, I’m afraid. If it helps, they use the original OE plastic triangles from the doors, so look “factory” and very discrete. Cheers, Ben.

Superb Mk3 Custom high spec tweeter upgrade
Audison Voce tweeters in custom-built housings, made by Audiofile In Car. Finished in Skoda Alcantara cloth. Swap straight in and replace the original tweets - very discreet, but a significant audio upgrade. Cost me over £300 plus the tweeters, which are around £150 new. In lovely condition, used for only a few months in a high-end multi-amp system, £175.

Racechip GTS Black + App and XLR pedal box in Parts For Sale section
Just a heads-up. I've reluctantly sold my Superb 272 and these performance upgrades are available in the "For Sale" section: Health warning - they will make you giggle like a schoolboy, as you leave the Corsa kids in your mirror... Also have a pair of easy fit Thule snow chains and some high spec Audison Voce custom-built tweeter upgrades for the Superb 3/4. Cheers, Ben.

Thule Snowchains for 19" wheels (bought for Superb Mk3) - unused, as new
Thule CU-9 Easy-fit snow chains (pair) no. CU-9 102, bought from John Jordan Ltd in 2019. Unused - have just been sat in the garage. Slight degradation to the Thule badge from sitting on a shelf. Please see pics. Not to be confused with regular snow chains, these are some of the highest spec you can buy and I treated myself to them after years of standard knuckle-shredding versions! New, around £250 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/König-EASY-FIT-CU-9-102-Chains/dp/B009NPLESU?th=1) As new, £130.

Racechip XLR Pedal Box (Throttle amplifier) NOW SOLD
Probably the most significant performance upgrade available for the Superb - this takes away the wading through treacle effect of the standard fly-by-wire throttle and makes it feel like a throttle should. I suspect this will work on any Skoda/VW - but please check before buying. 6 different modes, allowing you to fine tune as you go and find the sweet spot that works for your driving style. Having just taken it out to sell the car, I got a rude reminder of how awful the stock setup is in comparison. 10 min easy fit and the controller sits nicely out of the way in the cubby on the right of the steering wheel with the included spare sticky fixer. New, these are 230 Euros. In great condition, used, £100.

Superb 272 Racechip GTS Black +App
Easy to install (allow 30 mins), lots of fun and provides quite a visceral seat-of-the-pants boost (claims an upgrade to 350 BHP - I don't think they're far off with that figure). Highest spec Racechip available, with added app control - not essential for the 272, but do you really want to own such a wolf in sheep's clothing without knowing what it can really do? 🙂 Comes with engine guarantee etc - info available here: https://www.racechip.com/shop/skoda/superb-3v-facelift-from-2019/2-0-tsi-1984ccm-272hp-200kw-350nm.html Can be by-passed in seconds at any time with the included blanking plug. New, 619 Euros. In great condition, with all docs and manual etc - selling used for £350. Also selling a pedal box/Racechip XLR and snow chains - please see my other ads.

Canton or no Canton ?
Thanks Roberto - no credit due to me, though Apparently your installer was swapping notes with Gary at Audiofile In Car who was installing mine - these were the first Skoda systems they have both done. Interesting that yours is using analogue outs from the Zen 150, going into an amp that has a DSP stage before the amp. Does your amp not have optical inputs? Dunno if it has anything to do with the following: VI Products, who make the Zen, are writing a firmware patch for my setup, after a phone call with Audiofile In Car. The Zen Toslink (digital) outputs default at somewhere between 6 to 10dB down because of the tone controls on the Skoda headunit. These can cause clipping if used over enthusiastically - I won't be using them at all, so they're re-writing my firmware to give a 10dB boost. This may or may not affect you with your analogue connection - but may be worth checking, as the analogue outputs on the Zen may also be lower by default to avoid clipping, in which case you might not be getting all of the potential from the system. Ben.

Cute JL sub that sits unobtrusively in the boot. Huge improvement over the Canton bloater. Total cost, including kit and installation - circa £3K. Audio File In Car, Bishop's Stortford.

Canton or no Canton ?
Update on my custom install, in case it's useful to anyone. The system was done in two stages - firstly, the speakers were upgraded to Audison Voce bass, mid and tweeter - plus the doors were comprehensively dampened with dyna-mat. The next stage was to remove the stock amp and replace with an Audison 8 channel digital amp - this includes DSP on all channels, making a fully active system with time alignment and EQ on each speaker. This is fed optically from a Zen- V 150 Module, which converts the "MOST" optical digital signal into Toslink. This module sits invisibly behind the dash, next to the sat-nav brains in the glovebox. A couple of nice but subtle touches are the tweeter builds, which incorporate the original door corner mouldings and the remote control for the amp, which now sits in the little cubby to the right of the steering wheel (and still retains one pound coins for Aldi trollies ). All finished tastefully in a similar Alcantara to the OE material. Pics below, including some the techs took during installation.

Canton or no Canton ?
This is turning into one of those decent home-cooked food vs McDonalds conversations. Both are OK - but I know which I prefer in the long term and there's no point discussing the finer points of whether McD's use too much ketchup or dill pickle. It's subjective - but we all know their nosh comes with well defined limitations and trade-offs. And lots of salt... I work professionally with audio and deliver demanding and complex sound dub mixes for a living, using a custom Genelec monitoring system and I used to write a monthly column in Car HiFi Magazine. Unfortunately, I no longer have time to build my own systems, or I'd just be doing this myself. While a Canton "upgrade" will suffice for many with less educated ears, it won't satisfy those who have invested in decent HiFi systems and have tasted the forbidden fruit of decent sound reproduction. There - I said it. TLDR - if your idea of good sound quality is based on Sonos or Bose home audio, you might be OK with the Canton. If your ears are used to Naim, Linn, Arcam, Shahinian, PMC, Genelec etc, skip the Canton - and buy an aftermarket system. Hopefully I haven't offended too many people Ben.

Thanks Roberto - very useful info. Ben.

Canton or no Canton ?
I wasn't aware of that. How does that work? The stock Columbus/Amundsen headunit doesn't have a built-in amp, does it? Also, when I looked up the amp, it appears as a stock item for all sorts of regular VW Group MIB cars. Ben.

Sportline replacement shock absorbers
I was thinking the same! This is the last major mod I feel I need to do with the car, after the sound system is upgraded next week - the RaceChip continues to put a smile on my face. Would just like it to wallow and bottom out a little less on swoopy A Roads. @Roberto280, would you still go for the Koni and Skoda Sportline OE springs you have? Or would you do it differently if you had to do a damper/springs upgrade again? Ben.

Canton or no Canton ?
For my part, I would say I'm not angry, but I am disappointed with the Canton system. I spotted this post and thought it a good opportunity to let people know what they actually get, rather than what the marketing blurb suggests. I know what I do only because I've pulled the components out and felt a little cheated by what I discovered. I bought my car online via the Skoda used car finder and travelled to Cardiff to collect. I'm sure many others do the same, so they may well not get a chance to compare the stock system with the Canton upgrade. It's interesting that you mention " different door upholstery, dashboard, amp, subbox, additional speakers etc" And that really speaks to my point - there's very little difference for the Canton premium - agreed, there's an extra speaker grill on the door for the squawky sounding midrange standard VW speaker, but the stock amp and speakers are otherwise unchanged. From a HiFi brand that specialises in loudspeakers (Canton) and with the scant information that's provided to describe the upgrade, I expected more than a crude graphic EQ and a cheap sub. I think Skoda have really missed an opportunity to create a much nicer sounding system - it reminds me of mobile phone manufacturers that do deals with Hasselblad and Leica to simply add their brand magic to the phone, rather than adding actual tech, know how and higher quality. I'd happily pay much more to get it right from the start - out of the factory, rather than having to pay an additional £3K for the new components and door prep etc. Hopefully this convo helps others to make informed decisions - I would have been grateful for this information myself before selecting the "must have Canton" option in the used car finder. Ben.

https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/3v0035411j-bass-loudspeaker-skoda-40033.html https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/1z0035411e-mid-tone-loudspeaker-skoda-29103.html So, yes, Canton speakers are indeed just regular VW/Skoda speakers. Amp is standard Gen 2 MIB amp. So your “Canton” money really just buys you a bloaty sounding dual 8ohm cheap pressed paper coned subwoofer, which just further masks the poor sound quality of the other components: I’ve gone for Audisson Voce replacement 3 way components plus an F8.9BIT amp, Zen V-150 DAC and a JL Audio W3 8” sub. Being fitted by Audiofile in car, Bishops Stortford, early May. Ben.

Canton or no Canton ?
I’m in the process of getting my Canton upgraded in my 69 plate 272 estate. Truth is, the Canton spec front speakers are cheap Chinese paper cones. As far as I can tell, I don’t think they’re any different from regular spec. The amp is a cheap standard VW jobbie. My impression is that “Canton” spec simply adds a crappy one-note subwoofer and a dubious EQ curve - they might well have just named it “polish the turd”. Pics of Canton speakers and amp attached, Ben.
