  1. I believe that @BobanJ is asking about this model of headlight/indicators:
  2. UPDATE 2 - SOLVED Did a factory reset on the SmartLink in the car and i have CarPlay again. Instructions can be found here:
  3. UPDATE: Tests with another iPhone didn’t went well, as expected. Unpaired the Bluetooth connection on both sides and removed the CarPlay settings from the phone… no joy 😞 In the meantime, some forums suggested to reboot the infotainment. Didn’t help either (or i’m doing it wrong) 😞 https://youtu.be/vO_yxDI0xNQ
  4. Was just fine this morning. Went to work, Spotify was playing, Google Maps was navigating... Started the car to come home... no joy 😞 The phone (iPhone XS, IOS 16) just connects to Bluetooth and as an iPod media device. The CarPlay logo went missing from the SmartLink menu, so i don't suspect it's an iPhone/Apple/IOS issue. Will test later with another iPhone (ancient iPhone 6) as well as with an Android device (all of the previously connected to the system). With the CarPlay logo missing, i don't expect different results from the other iPhone. The SmartLink feature was recently added to the car through an official dealer/service partner. Any takes on this?
  5. This is normal for a new car. Mine started at 5.000km and gradually rose up to 10.000 and only then started to decline. With the 10.000km on the clock now it says 5.000km. It actually measures the AdBlue consumption and tank content and calculates on that. In time the display will start to show the actual amount of AdBlue to add (min and max). I think that the AdBlue tank capacity is 12 litres. The step of the AdBlue range counter is 500km for the metric setup. I would guess that it is 500mi for the Imperial.
  6. UPDATE: I had another drive at dusk (~18:30 local time here in Skopje) and the headlight were a bit jumpy. They tend to go on at slightest shadow and then go of after the standard 8-9 seconds. I switched to the default mode (instead of the more sensitive tunnel mode) and let's how it behaves next time, both in tunnels/garages and around sunset.
  7. Yes, Aliexpress. As i mentioned, there are lots of suitable models with different sensor placement, different connector types and different placement of the 0 position. I got this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32918809570.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dIavzmf. The seller is not very responsive to messages, but the product is OK. Visually fits the car good, as you can see from the photos. The color scheme is a bit off. I would prefer green instead of white or at least not so bright white. I might even do something about it later, if it still bothers me. The configuration controls do not fully work. I managed to turn on tunnel mode (lights turn on quicker than the default), but could not turn off follow-me lights. They usually turn off after 8-9 seconds of exiting a tunnel/garage. The follow me lights are actually sidelights and the car might beep if you open the door while they are on (usually on entering, but also on exiting since they turn one after the unlock on key removal). Thant's in my view a bug in the code, but it's not that big of an issue. I took a drive right about sunset time and the DRLs were still on when the dashboard started to dim a little. Another dim and the light were on. All in all, happy with the product.
  8. Škoda introduced the funnel later, in the Kamiq, in think.
  9. Automatic headlights are usually a non-feature to me. On all my previous cars i would just leave the main beam on. They would turn on/off with the ignition and double as DRLs. With the Octavia the game changed. There are factory fitted DRLs now and that "feature" that dims the dashboard when the ambient light goes low. Aliexpress to the rescue in a form of replacement light switch with a built-in light sensor and an "auto" position. It also provides follow-me lights feature and some of the features are configurable through a rudimentary interface of the switch knob. Aliexpress has a bunch of different light switches of this type, with different knob shapes, colours and connectors for various VAG vehicles. Some differ in the position of the light sensor (on the face, on the knob or on a wire for an under the windshield placement. Just pay attention to the placement of the 0 position. Škodas have it at 12 o'clock, while the VWs usually have the "auto" at 12 o'clock and the 0 at 11. It does has it quirks. I would prefer the white backlight to be green or at least dimmer, to match the factory colour scheme or have more settings for the on/off thresholds... All in all, not bad for $40.
  10. Imagine a scenario where you have one phone connect via Bluetooth for voice calls and Bluetooth music, and another one tucked away somewhere, permanently connected to the USB port for CarPlay/MirrorLink. Is this combination possible and does it make any sense?
  11. I wasn’t asking about the range, but the low fuel warning light. 😉
  12. Last time when the low fuel warning fired up, the range counter showed 100km. In fact it just dropped from 110 to 100km when it went off. I was on a highway doing 130+ km/h. Tonight, while driving in the city at 50 km/h, it fired up at 95km, but not immediately after dropping from 100 to 95km. So, is the low fuel warning based on the range and the current consumption (and/or speed) or the quantity of fuel left in the tank? The car is Octavia MK3 FL, 16 TDI@115. Additionally, i have noticed that when the range is 100+ kilometers, the resolution of the counter is 10km. When the range is less then 100km, the resolution of the counter becomes 5km. Also, for the AdBlue range the resolution seems to be 500km.
  13. I don’t know if it’s normal, but it happens. DPF regen works at high very temperatures and some of it “spills over” into the ventilation. You don’t need to close the vents, the A/C should be able to handle it.
  14. Is auto hold the same as hill assist? The latter is available on Octavias without electric hand brake.
  15. Also true for the rest of Europe. The standard radio antenna (on the limo/hatch, at least) is placed in the rear windshield. The topmost 2-3 rows of wire, the width of the third stop light, are not window heater/defroster but an antenna.
