It's such a stupid problem this. I'm glad to say the fix on mine seems to have worked and I've had no further issues. I don't know if it is a known fault with Skoda UK as such, but my dealer offered no resistance after I proved it was happening- and I get the impression that particular dealer is rather strict in regard to warranty work. The BluTack trick suggested by @RCC49 above does the job well as proof. Suggest the mechanics do the test drive over suburban roads with speed bumps. Two miles was more than enough to prove there was a problem. I drove from London to the Highlands last summer and long motorway driving really did make me think it was me going mad. It moved back so subtlety I only noticed each time I got back in after stopping at the services.
