  1. With the hotspot disabled it won't work. As for the support by the car, I don't know, all I know is that it works on my 2020 Scala with Bolero.
  2. The WiFi connection should be established automatically by Android Auto when you select to connect wirelessly (the phone and the car know about each other via Bluetooth and they perform the initial handshake and credential exchange via Bluetooth.)
  3. Yes, the WLAN hotspot needs to be active, as Wireless Android Auto communicates via WiFi.
  4. After I bought the car, all Skoda Connect features were active except for remote locking and unlocking, I had to visit the dealership and have that activated, for security reasons. Now, as part of wireless Android Auto troubleshooting, I am thinking of factory resetting the whole infotainment system (Bolero). If I do that, will I have to visit the dealership again, to activate the remote unlocking, or will it remain activated once I log back in with my account, despite the factory reset?
  5. As of Android 11, it is included by default. On previous versions, it may have or have not been preinstalled, you can install it from Play Store (if it's available in your country) or sideload it.
  6. Or to get this dongle: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless#/
  7. @fyren It wasn't me who had the issue, it was @M4C1N0. I just commented on it.
  8. Okay, that'd be odd if they left it out in Amundsen, anyway, good luck and maybe do let us know once you hear back from Skoda.
  9. Hi @M4C1N0, I got mine in March (delivered in March, ordered in January) and I specifically ordered an extra option called "Wireless Smartlink", it was not included by default (although it was only 54€ I believe) - this is what enables the wireless connection. I have Bolero, though, not Amundsen - I did not want to pay extra for navigation when I knew I would use the navigation from my phone via Android Auto anyway. The screen size difference was not significant enough, so I stuck with Bolero. But if CarPlay works for you wirelessly, technically Android Auto should too. There is a good guide by @ajrimmer at https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/479851-wireless-android-auto-on-scala-no-internet/?tab=comments#comment-5387318 so I suggest you check it out. It is broken down to 3 essential steps - for me the setup was much easier, as I like to dig through my phone's settings and I had already done steps 1 and 2 in the past.
  10. Yeah, that sucks... And I don't know why they claim only CarPlay is supported for Wireless SmartLink, I am using Android Auto wirelessly
  11. Somewhere on the internet I read that they don't add that after thr car was manufactured, that it only could have been ordered as an option prior to manufacture. However, I have no idea what reason they would have not to do this - and, moreover, I don't have that from an official source, just from an internet discussion, so definitely ask your dealer about it.
  12. I'm not sure why they wrote "only available with Apple Carplay", because unless they actually make a different software for different countries, which I highly doubt, the Wireless Smartlink option works for both Android and iOS. I got mine here in Slovakia and it does work for Android Auto (the description of the Wireless Smartlink option mentioned both iOS and Android here - or neither, I don't remember it well anymore, but definitely it didn't say "just for this one OS").
  13. I have the 8" Bolero and have Care Connect Remote Access.
  14. Well luckily I didn't have any issue yet with connecting to my Scala.
  15. Thank you all. I don't think he will be willing to pay for a data SIM card and have a dongle sticking out, he would only seldom use the feature if it was built-in and worked out of the box, let alone when further steps are necessary. So thanks again for explaining the options.
  16. Thanks @CJJE, however, I am not in the UK, so the option packages are bundled differently and called differently here. He has something called "Care Connect and Infotainment Online", but I am not sure whether it only works when you connect the car to the internet e.g. via your phone's hotspot, or whether the car can connect on its own, anytime. Anyway, am I understanding your answer correctly, that there indeed is an option for Karoq to be online on its own?
  17. Hello guys, I recently bought a new Scala (I know I am in Karoq forum, read my post till the end) and it is always online, meaning that even when it is parked and locked, I can go to my Skoda Connect app, see the range info, see whether it is locked, honk the horn, flash the lights, unlock it remotely, etc... Now, my dad just bought a new Karoq and he is not very tech savvy and wants me to set all the "digital stuff" up - so, should I expect the same behavior from Karoq that I am used to from Scala? Will the car be always online, be able to unlock it remotely, etc...? Thanks!
  18. That's my experience as well, I rarely control the fan speed manually.
  19. Congrats @TectronSK, you finally got it! Enjoy!
  20. Glad you made it work! For me it was easier, as I did step 1 kind of intuitively (I knew the option was there so I just went and enabled it), I had already done step 2 long ago in the past and then step 3 was just about connecting it, so for me it kind of just worked, as I knew my way around and knew what to have prepared. But I can imagine this guide will help many people in the future, so it's great that you posted it! When I got my previous car, Fabia, it was just a couple of weeks before Android Auto was added as an option, so I was frustrated I did not get it and had to drive years without it, so that's why I was even more pumped to finally have it now in Scala - and on top of that, it is one of the first cars in the world to support the wireless version! That was satisfactory So I enjoy using AA with the phone in my pocket (or in the Phonebox) very much
  21. @ajrimmer, glad you had the time to familiarize yourself with the car. To all you wrote I can just say I fully agree As for the washing, I did not have any bad experience with the regular automatic washers, so those are what I use when necessary.
  22. Congrats! Looks exactly like ours, even the wheels are the same! Hopefully you'll get to spend some quality time with it soon Unrelated... Where do you still have snow? 😮
  23. It sucks to have to wait more, for both of you, but it is definitely for good reasons... That link is the first occurence of the car in that color I have seen on the internet, save for my pictures here
