  1. Hello, just wanna give an update on my never ending problem with Skoda Scala and Android Auto. The Samsung S22 worked well until a few software updates got installed into the phone. Since then, the S22 is unable to connect using the AA, even via a cable. Every time I connect it, it starts loading and then it shows an error (something like "connection lost"). I tried countless times to overcome this issue, restarting phone / removing profiles / trying different cables / ... / ... it just doesn't work. I even bought AAWireless box, but it did not work either (it worked 100% with Scoda Kamiq 2021). I went to the Skoda service recently and they checked the infotainment - all up to date. I spoke with them about the AA problems and I was pointed to this page: https://compatibilitylist.skoda-auto.com/ The new Samsungs are not listed there, the latest one is S20 (S21 for the later Scalas). Funny enough, the S10e is still listed there :-) I'm giving up on this problem, seems like this is gonna be solved once we decide to buy a new car.
  2. Hey guys. After the update to Android 11/12 I had constant issues with AA and Samsung S10e in my Scala. The wireless AA was barely connecting (10% chance). Recently, even the wired connection started to behave flakey. I often endep up using my phone for navigation. A few weeks ago, I got a new Samsung S22 (base model, not plus/ultra) ... and it works👍I took me a while to pair it with the system for the first time, but since then it works just fine. I've used it - wirelessly - appropriately 10x and only 1x I had a connection issue. Lets see how it goes in the following weeks, but so far I'm optimistic.
  3. Where did you find this information? Samsung S10e with Andorid 10 was working without issues on the Bolero unit (HW 040, SW 0464) until I got the Android 11 update. Since then it does not work. The model was built before week 48/2020.
  4. OK, so I did some extra re-search and found: https://www.autoevolution.com/news/psa-android-11-update-could-break-down-android-auto-on-samsung-phones-153547.html And https://support.google.com/androidauto/thread/95095343?hl=en Really looks like an Android Auto issue
  5. Hey, FYI Android 11 update broke the Wireless Android Auto for me (Skoda Scala). See details here:
  6. Hey guys, just wanna say that my S10e got updated to Android 11 and with the update the Android Auto stopped working. 1) Connecting wirelessly stopped working at all - the connection fails with 'Failed to connect' message (or some similar text) shown on the car unit. 2) Connecting via the USB-C cable starts the Android Auto, but the internet is not available in the car unit - I cannot listen to music / use traffic information in Google maps etc. I spent an hour today trying different tweaks but nothing seem to work. I also tried to set-up a second phone (Samsung Galaxy S21) but was unsuccessful again. From what I saw on Reddit / this forum, Android 11 breaks the Android Auto for some car models. Skoda Scala + Samsung S10e (Android 11) = Not working Skoda Scala + Samsung S21 (Android 11) = Not working I hope this will get resolved fast, I'm going to contact Skoda.
  7. I am unable to edit my previous post (???) so posting again, this time hopefully complete. I wanted to write about our 10k experience few months ago, but did not have any time to do it. We did additional 2k since when I jotted down my first thoughts on 10k with Scala, but the lists remain unchanged - here it is. PROS Emergency break assist. Saved us already twice. Second floor in boot. We keep our outdoor equipment there - in the summer, just pack the food and you are ready to go. Electric back door. Super cool feature, simplifies life. Would not buy another car without it. Light assist. LA is great - I used to have problems when driving during nights, the LED lights solved it. Cruise Control. Once you get used to it, you won't drive on the highway without it. 2 zone aircon. No more quarrels about the temperature. Car looks great. After half a year, I still like the car design. 1.0 TSI is enough of power. Was a bit afraid if 1.0 is not too weak, but no, it is more than sufficient. Easily folding back seats. CONS Beeping noise when engine on & driver door open. The back camera turns off when the gear is changed. Lane assist wheel sensor often beeps without a reason. Clumsy aircon handling. Click on menu button opens aircon menu, second click on the menu button does not close it. It is not possible to use keyboard while driving Did not find a way to get the navi into the virtual cockpit (Bolero) Hill assist does turn off at once. Could cause troubles if on low torque. The 2nd gear does not run well in low torque, one needs to get used to it. Wireless charging stops charging when phone too hot. Limited apps for android auto. In general, we are still liking our car a lot. Most of the CONs are 1st world problems or general moans that are not specific for Scala. If I could change something in the configuration, I would re-consider the automatic transmission as it - with combination with the cruise control - would simplify the driving by another grade. Apart of that, I'm really happy with what we got.

  9. Hello everyone, I was unable to find pictures of Scala on the Blade wheels when I was deciding what wheels to choose for winter. So I want to share my pics in case anyone is in the same situation as I was - I'm really happy we went for it, looks great :-)
  10. Third attempt was successful. Got to say the whole configuration was frustrating (shame on you Skoda🙈) - sharing my experience with Bolero & Andorid 10 (Samsung S10E), hope it helps someone! Step 1 - Android Auto preparation 1) Install Android Auto (if not available for you in the Play Store, it is very easy to find it via Google) 2) Open Android Auto on your phone, go to 'Settings' and click 10x on the 'Version' text [Observe the app says something like 'Dev mode enabled' once finished tapping] 3) Click the three dots on the left top corner and select 'Developer Settings' 4) Check 'Add wireless projection to settings' 5) Go back to 'Settings' and select 'Enable wireless projection' Step 2 - Android phone preparation 1) Open you phone Android Settings and select 'About Phone' -> 'Software information' 2) Tap 5x times on the 'Build number' text [Observe the app says something like 'Dev mode enable' once finished tapping] 3) Go back to 'Settings' and click 'Developer options' 4) Enable 'Mobile data always active' option Step 3 - Connecting AA & the car 1) Enable WAN in the car 2) Connect your phone to the car network 3) Open Android Auto on the phone [At this moment, it should be possible to, at least, open AA on the car display and see icons of Google maps, calendar etc.] 4) Click on Google maps on the car display and try to navigate to some location. If the navigations shows crossed-out icon and says something like 'you are offline', continue on step 5) Otherwise congrats, you've made it! 🙃 5) On your phone, go to 'Settings' -> 'Connections' -> 'Wifi', click the three dots on the top left corner and select 'Advanced' 6) Select 'Switch to mobile data' -> 'Network exceptions' 7) Remove the name of the car network from the exceptions list At this moment, you should be able to use wireless AA while being on your phone data 👍 p.s. Bits and pieces from other threads in this forum were used here
  11. Hey guys, I've got my Scala recently and since then I'm struggling to connect Android Auto wirelessly and use Google maps for navigation. Has anyone managed to do it? My Scala is equipped with Bolero & I got Samsung S10E with Android 10. I firstly tried with my old Samsung S7, but AA did not work (I was able to pair Scala with S7 via Bluetooth & use the phone for calls but no AA) I tried with Samsung S10E (listed as a supported phone at the Skoda website) today and I was able to got AA working wirelessly - I managed to to play music via my Android music player and open Google maps. Unfortunately the maps showed an icon with crossed out cloud saying 'working offline' - the consequence of which was the navigation not showing routes, traffic info etc. I tried the standard turn on/off but did not help. Any ideas here?
  12. Adding some picture from over the last few days + first experiences after the first 6 days of owning Scala. I have to say the car looks fabulous and drives nicely. I'm glad we went for the colour, I like how it changes colours based on the light angle. Also, with the LED lights on, the car looks gives even better impression. 1) Driving We got the 1.0 116hp and it is more than enough of power. Did not want to do high revs (new car) so was worrying about overtaking, but really no problem, the car has enough power in low revs too. The car is silent, speeds to 100km/h so easily one can easily forget about the speed limits .... so far I'm more than satisfied with its power. Driving in the night is great - I hated driving in the night with our old car because I did not see well - now with the LED lights & auto/corner lighting, the quality of the sight improved significantly so I do not mind to drive in the night again. 2) Infotaiment Our Scala has Bolero with a digital cocpit & climatronic. I was a little worried about the aircon controls from the infotaiment, but after setting it to auto mode, did not have to change the fan speed once. After several unsuccessful attempts to connect my Samsung S7 wirelessly, I found out the S7 is not a supported phone (https://compatibilitylist.skoda-auto.com/). Fortunately the wired connection works OK - the maps & music player works nice. One thing that I did not figure out how to use is the WAN - I did set it up, but for some reason (?) my phone was unable to see the network in its list. Will give it a try with another phone soon. 3) Locking, Kessy This is my first car with Kessy and I'm really impressed how well it works. I just keep my car keys in a jeans pocket and can forget about them. Together with the Start / Stop button it really makes life easier, even for when opening the tail gate. 4) Things I need to get used to - Sooo many features After almost a week with the car, I still have a few things to learn. - The back mirror is on a console that blocks part of the view to the up. It is nothing serious, but I found this a little annoying when waiting on the lights and had to move a bit to the left to see the colours. Minor point though as this won't affect 99.9% of the time in the car Got a question - how do you wash a new car? There was some snow last week and I managed to get the sides a little dusty, so I took it to a contactless car wash today. I heard it is safer than a regular car wash, but still was feeling a bit uncertain when washing the new 'precious' with a pressure pistol
  13. We've just picked up our Scala Unfortunately I'm quite busy this week so have not had time for a proper examination, hopefully weekend will be more rewarding 😁
  14. I found an ad with the Scala Lava Blue (pictures in): http://www.sauto.cz/osobni/detail/skoda-scala/scala/18682867 Our Scala has arrived but the dealership show room is closed. Spoken to the dealer and because of the recent law & events, they are unable to hand it over. We have our new car literaly 500 meters from our place and we cannot pick it up🤯😲😲😭
  15. How's the new Scala after a week of usage? Any new pictures 🤤? Got in touch with the dealer yday and our Scala has been built already and its on the way to the dealership - we should pick it up on the 26/27th 😋 Fingers crossed COVID won't delay it 🤞
  16. 😍Very pretty! 😍 BTW are you sure this is the Lava blue colour? It seems to me more like the Titan blue. Compare this Lava blue Karoq here https://www.drivelife.co.nz/2018/08/2018-skoda-karoq-tsi-ambition-car-review-the-yetis-successor/ With this Titan blue Scala here https://www.nettiauto.com/en/skoda/scala/10897739
  17. Just read on the second thread you got the car already, any chance of taking some pictures?
  18. On the other hand, the UK GDP is 2xGDP of the CzechRep, the min wage in the UK is 3x of the one in the CzechRep and the average salary is also approx. 3x of the avg salary in the CzechRep. In the light of this information, the higher prices are something one should not be too surprised 🤓
  19. After reading about the 30-50% difference in prices between Slovak/UK I went to the UK configurator and configured a similar Scala to the one I ordered in the CzechRep ... and the price increase is really massive! This is the UK configuration link: https://yaus.dev/jS2L0CHg This is the CZ configuration link: https://yaus.dev/FHTWpF0D The UK one is almost £27000, a very similar one in the Czech config is for about £19000 This is without any 'dealer discount', so the prices really seem to be +/- 30% higher.
  20. Haha. When I configured Scala in the Skoda configurator, I did not put the Virtual Cockpit in - the reviews I'd seen did not find it worth the extra money. Later we found the 'Connectivity' packet that contains the wireless Smartlink, Skoda Connect, wireless charging, DAB & VirtualCockpit. We had the first 4 in our 'want to have' list anyway -> the VirtualCockpit was then 'only' ±150EUR so we went for it. I did not want the heated windshield (if all the windows were heated, it would make sense to me, but with only the windshield being heated, you have to do the 'cold work' on the rest of the windows anyway 😎), but wifey was really really really wanting it 🙋‍♀️😍 so it was added in 😁Nice that you got KESSY for free, the Czech Style (SE) trim does not include it and if you buy it outside a packet, it will cost you almost 200EUR 🙄
  21. Hi guys, I ordered mine (also Lava Blue) a few weeks ago - should be home by the end of March 🤩 It is my first non-second hand car (I own Skoda Fabia, MK1). I spent quite a lot of time thinking about a new car, reading reviews and watching youtube - I think I have seen all English, Czech & Slovak Scala reviews on Youtube that are currently there 😂 I was considering buying a second hand VII Golf, but then I rather went for a new Scala. I ordered Scala Style 1.0L 85kW manual (petrol), with plenty of extras (electric tailgate, virtual Cockpit, KESSY ...). I was a bit worried about the power of the engine, but got the 1.0L 85kW for almost 1h to try and was more than satisfied. I tried it on a highway (me + 2 passengers), I took the slow lane on a decent steep hill with approx. 120km/h on the speedo and then I accelerated and tried to overtake cars in front of me. This kind of manoeuvre is absolutely impossible with my 1.2 HTP Fabia 😅 but Scala did manage it well - the acceleration was quick and we reached around 160km/h when I was passing the last cars we were overtaking. Really looking forward to have it home, the days are somehow too long after I made the order 😂
  22. Hey PeePay, I ordered mine in Lava Blue colour two weeks ago :-) I'm situated in the CzechRep - originally wanted to get the metallic silver but wifey convinced me to go for the Lava Blue after seeing it in real on Octavia and Karoq. Have not actually see Scala in this colour on any real photos (Google does not help), do you have any?
