  1. I had a failed engine coolant valve last week that caused my wife some miss-fires in heavy slow traffic (only happened twice in about a week). No error code on the dash, but a DTC that wouldn't clear. My local independent garage did some diagnosis (as there are 2 valves apparently that can cause the code below) and today got the part in stock and replaced it.

     

    All seems to be running well now @ 60,000 miles on the odometer.

     

    This was the error code if it helps anyone else!

  2. Give it a good look over and make sure that the DSG has been serviced every 40,000 miles. Would be good if the Haldex had been serviced too (and ideally a new filter) with new oil.

     

    280 L&Ks generally get snapped up very quickly - so you've probably done the right thing!

     

     

    Note that you can get the head unit upgraded to the later model (2017) larger screen, that's certainly an upgrade that I've enjoyed on mine (see my build log for more info).

  5. Hi all,

     

    Hoping that you can help me identify an issue with my 2016 280. We've had two incidents recently that are a bit weird with the engine:

    1. Engine went lumpy and threw up EPC code after very stop start heavy traffic when my wife was driving
    2. Engine went lumpy then cut out (on another day) whilst stopped (after queuing for passport control)

     

    Any ideas what this could be? Seems to be sporadic so far.

     

    Car has done 60,000 miles and has had the spark plugs changed in the last year (and is serviced at an independent every year).

  6. Yes it's possible, but it is a complete pain.

     

    It's easy enough to retrofit the camera onto the back of the car (and then to re-code the car to tell it that it has a reversing camera), but then you have to wire it all the way to the head unit at the front. You can't use the existing wiring.

     

    For this reason, I haven't bothered on my car. It really is a great feature though and is annoying not to have (I have it on my Focus).

  7. Sorry for the thread resurrection - 

     

    The boot hatch / tailgate on my Superb mk3 (2016) is still working, although it does produce error beeps sometimes which requires you to physically force the boot to close (by pushing it). The problem hasn't been persistent enough to warrant replacement of any parts - but if it gets worse then we might have to.

     

    Here's to another few years of ignoring the problem 😄

  8. Prices were crazy, but seem to have started coming down.

     

    Bought our 2016 280 L&K from Arnold Clark in March 2020 for £17,995 with 40,000 miles. Similar mileage / condition cars were £25k a few months ago. A few minor bits have needed doing, but as a family load lugger it is excellent. I couldn't recommend it more for family abuse - the leg room in the back is epic as it means the children struggle to reach the seat in front to kick you 😉

     

    The massive boot on the estate version is also handy too.

  9. Noticed recently that the cabin smells of petrol after a period of no use, any ideas on what could be the issue?

     

    I've previously asked for the carbon evap canister for the fuel tank to be checked at the time of the last service in August but no issues were found. Also not had any error messages on the dash and no leaks by the rear right hand side wheel well.

     

    Car is a 2016 Superb 280.

     

    Any ideas welcomed - thanks!

     

     

  10. Small update today - as it's now spring, the summer wheels and tyres are now back on, with 2 new Michelin Primacy 4's at the back fitted today to replace the oldest budget tyres on the car. No change to the front as the tyres are quite new even if they are budget tyres that came with the car!
