Yes that's the right screen. It's really easy to remove the screen, you just need to use some removal tools.
The pack comes with 4 metal tools - one goes into a slot of each corner and clicks into place. When it's clicked the screen is 'unlocked' and you can pull it out. Unplug the wires at the back, then remove. Plug the wires into the new unit then slide into the gap and it will click (lock) into place. Job done.
If you car is 2016 it will be MIB2
-
Yes it's possible.
You can swap to the larger MIB2 screen just by buying the larger screen.
I don't think you'll be able to upgrade to MIB2.5 as this is only possible with the top of the range Columbus system. Unless you swap out the entire head unit and screen.

A heated screen is an absolute must in our climate. I can't believe more people don't specify them from new!
Thanks for sharing your write-up, hopefully this will be useful to someone.
A heated windscreen is my number 1 requirement, but tricky to find on VAG cars.

If you check this post / thread you'll find links to update software and also links to patch the files on the MIB2 / 2.5 unit to remove component protection.
I don't think you need access to ODIS, but you will need to a specific D-Link USB to ethernet adaptor.

I'm hoping it's just that the waste gate needs recalibration. I've read that the locknut can come loose sometimes, which would make sense given the turbo has just been changed.
Internet seems to think it's likely a wastegate issue, which (fingers crossed) should be a relatively simple fix. Good luck!

The two lights in the boot door can be upgraded. I've replaced mine and the LED replacements are significantly brighter!

How is traction with the narrow tyres in the dry?
Absolutely fine. I've not noticed any slip whatsoever - they're only 20mm narrower.

Are your winters the same size as the L&K 18's?
No, they're the standard 17 inch wheels from the SE - 215/55/R17
The L&K standard wheels are 18 inches - 235/45/R18
-
Yep the factory 17" wheels will fit over the largest OEM brakes (i.e. those on the 280 TSI). I'm using those for the winter.

Has she clobbered the other side yet Chris?
I enjoyed reading this thread, thanks
Lol, no not yet.
This is the daily so if it gets superficial scratches I don't mind (the above was obviously a bit more than a minor scratch!). My pride and joy is locked firmly in the garage and she's not insured on that

I don't know on the towbar, but the 17 inch wheels from the SE fit over the brakes on the 280. I've fitted these to my car with some all-season tyres (Michelin Cross Climate+). These tyres were significantly cheaper than the standard 18 inch-ers.

Looks fantastic on those wheels. Welcome to the 280 club

Hopefully all sorted now then... glad you got it back.

Looks great

I couldn't live without the heated windscreen, I would definitely get that if you can. You'll never need to scrape the windscreen again! Both my cars have a heated windscreen, I couldn't live without it now.
Definitely get a spare wheel - the space saver fits under whichever floor you have in the boot.
I'd also get the USB in the rear view mirror - easier than hard wiring in the dashcam yourself - and it'll be a smarter installation.
Personally I wouldn't bother with the virtual cockpit - it's a nice to have, not essential in my view - better to use the money elsewhere.

I'm with you on the 280 becoming collectable. Well I would say that wouldn't I . 280's are in demand & don't hang around very long when they do come up for sale.
I'm not sure that it'll be collectable, but as a daily they certainly shift quickly - either when driving, or on the forecourt. The first one I tried to buy sold before it was even posted on the dealer's website. Most will rightly be used as daily drivers, and rightly so.

The 280 estate is Superb, geddit?!
Seriously though - all the car you could ever want for a family. Very pleased with ours which we bought this year second hand.
-
I think your car is broken, mine is fine. I suggest you take it somewhere else to get inspected
Vastly more comfortable than my other car. My car does have DCC though.
-
Very nice!
Looks like you've got some good tyres on it already. Enjoy

No photos? Come on, do share

Looks about right, I cleaned mine (and changed the oil) at 40,000 miles and it was about twice as sludged up as that - so looks like normal use to me.

The 2016 LK I have seen is just under 19k with 50 k on the clock. Does this seem a little steep?
No that's about the right price at the moment, prices have gone up by a few thousand since the beginning of the year
Having said that there are some much newer and low mileage cars available for not much more (AutoTrader)

I've got a 2016 280 L&K and it has DCC as standard. Super comfortable in all conditions, even with sports suspension on.
Much more comfortable than my other car which has properly stiff suspension!

Welcome to the club! It's a brilliant car, so enjoy

Looks like a good car, but difficult to tell without photos.
Based on my experience 280 L&Ks go quickly so you'll have to get an offer in soon, otherwise someone else will get there first. Try to get some money off as I think it's slightly overpriced (but not by much). Good luck
