What I found out is the garage i took it to for a service never changed my engine oil so I been driving for over a year with dirty oil so going to give it an oil change think that was the problem. Will update with the results

Was start for about 15 to 20mins but still could smell petrol

Think they aftermarket ones

One more thing he said he could smell petrol or oil coming from the exhaust and abit of smoke it's white but as it really cold it might be condensation

Yes he did the output test and can hear it clicking

I found someone with vcds and it won't adapt I got 2 egr valves and both the same I put some photos of the numbers

Problem I got is i need it for the mot retest tomorrow and I oredered one online it will take the exhaust a week to get here plus local ones cost more than double the cost as online and the universal flex pipe is new it's just leaking from where the clamp goes on to. I just get new clamps hope that holds till new exhaust gets here as the clamps don't look like good ones and abit rusty. It did have the same flex pipe on last year mot and passed I reckon the clamps got loose

I just checked it and looks like it's got a tiny leak at the flex pipe which the previous owner got it replaced with a universal flex pipe the ones you clamps on it's leaking from the end of the clamp and the back box got a tiny hole aswel

I have put new plugs,oil change new filters but I do think it's the leak now and is the p1404 egr system basic settings not performed will I have to sort this problem out for the mot as I do not have any lights on just shows up on vcds on error code thanks

Just seen on the mot paper it has a advisories exhaust has a minor leak of exhaust gasses [6.1.2 (a) ]

I just got the free vcds and can't afford to pay for licence I just changed my job so have to wait till end of month for my wages plus can't find any local people with vcds i check for exhaust leak as I can see the person before replaced the flexi pipe and put clamps on instead of welding it

Ok will go down later today and let you know and what I was told is if the egr basic settings not performed this will cause emissions test to fail is this correct?

skoda fabia 1.4 2005 failed MOT on emissions exhaust lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits (8.2.1.2 (c)) i come home and read fault codes with vcds and got error code P1404 EGR System Basic Setting not Performed does anyone think this could be the cause for the emissions fail? i been told by the garage to change both the lambda sensors but as they cost alot i need advice 1st thanks in advance

Must be a wiring problem

I never had that problem do can't help but Check on YouTube plenty of videos showing how to open them as its a common problem

I just blanked the egr valve off and that sorted the problem as my cable still not here yet will take blanking plate off when i get the cable

Sorry never had time but this what I bought link at the bottom. just go on YouTube to show you how you remove door card. once off drill old rivets out install rivnuts and get the same size bolts for the rivnuts you installed Done. It don't straight away it takes about 30 minutes to an hour of driving and stalling lol to get the codes up the only code that's comes up within 5 mins is the one saying my plug is not connected and I know I said before it was unplugged but I remember it wasn't unplugged then the codes come up after that I unplugged it and I need a permanent solution as it won't pass mot with engine light on even if I turn the light off ( which it will stay off for a few hours) it will fail on emissions. I just hope adaptation works if not I'm just selling it as it's doing my head in. Going back to a Astra as I had it for 8 years and only problems was normal wear n tear

No I'm waiting for the cable to arrive so I can adapt the new egr valve and it's 2005 last time I drove for half an hour and the egr valve code came up forgot which one now and it ran perfect but soon as I erase the codes it gets worse so I'm still driving it so the code comes up as I hate it stalling on ever corner but with the 1st egr valve all I done was cleaned TB and egr and all pipes connecting to and it ran perfect for 2 months never done a egr adaptation so got a replacement sent out which I installed and got the problem again but I will wait for the cable to adapt egr valve and will update

Well put new egr valve and same problem again what can be the problem??? I can drive it with the engine light on but when it comes to the mot it be a fail this car really doing my nut in

Update it's was the egr valve in the Stuck open position now the error codes come it doesn't stall anymore as the ecu put it in default settings but If I clear the code it goes rough again till the code pops up again so got a replacement on it's way Thanks for everyone's help
