Suspension noises
Wheel balancing and passenger side top mount was the cause. Now repaired.

Suspension noises
I will check all the tires. They were all brand new, fitted by National tires. I wondered if they hadn't been balanced properly and that was the vibration issue. But since the suspension started squeaking I wondered if it was one issue. Definitely no major damage from hitting the kerb, just the broken spring. That was checked over and fitted by professionals. I will try and get a look at them and see what the deal is. I suspect you are right, I've just not wanted to jack the car up and have a look because its freezing here at the moment. Thanks guys

Suspension noises
Going to start by saying that I don't have a ramp or a trolley jack or anything like that so its tricky for me to actually have a proper look myself. I bought my car in June 2020, it is sound as far as I can tell but it does seem to creak a little at low speeds. Sounds like its coming from the rear. i have tried to troubleshoot this as much as I can and couldn't find anything that really solved it or explained it. So accepted it as a characteristic and moved on. In July, I hit a kerb a bit too hard and snapped a front spring. I had this replaced (and the other) not long after doing it. The garage said that the rest of the car looked good and they were amazed at its condition. The creaking from the rear continued but everything was gucci for a while. In September, I had all 4 tires replaced. After that, its not really seemed right. When I am on specific motorways and at motorway speed I get a decent amount of steering wheel vibration. But I wasn't sure if this was the surfaces (or a problem that is exaggerated by harsher road surfaces) and I noticed that when I went over speed bumps (specifically because they cause a lot of suspension travel) there is quite a loud squeaking coming from the front of the car. At first I wondered if it was the dashboard, then I noticed that the temperature outside affected the frequency of the sound. (It kind of sounds like rubber squeaking). Its a lot worse in cold weather, so its making me wonder if its a top mount or bushes. When I originally felt the springs snap back in summer, i found the piece of suspension next to the car when I pulled up. I found a larger piece a couple of months ago that looked like a spring so I can't help but wonder if the new ones have snapped... So I'm not ruling that out despite the new springs being less than a year old. The car sits level though and I have run my hands along the springs and can't see where it would have come from (might be chance and someone else's car). I'm about to give up and send it back to a garage. Is there anything that anyone can think of that could be the culprit so I don't put myself at risk of being shafted by mechanic fees. Thanks.

Best spark plugs for Fabia VRS mk2?
Another reason why fuel is very important^

Best spark plugs for Fabia VRS mk2?
Aye it was a 97 RON fuel, because I cringed a little when I realised it was the only one around. Normally fill with Momentum. Every car forum has the exact same discussion. NGK vs. Denso. I tend to stick to Denso as its widely accepted that they burn hotter but not for as long. And I am perfectly capable of changing my own plugs. Had the exact same discussion on the 350Z forum, the GT86/BRZ forum and interestingly enough a Mazda3 forum.

What I've said is still true. Across numerous applications the consensus is a cleaner and higher powered spark from the Denso spark plugs, but they don't have as long a life. You can apply that knowledge to a twincharger and make a judgement call for yourself really. Would rather my car had no misfires at all for a solid year than i could run it for 2 years and it'll miss a beat occasionally. Side note though: I've never known an engine be so affected by different brands of fuel before. I had to fill with 97 Esso the other day, had no 99 nearby and it HATES it. Even with the Denso plugs (about 3k old) it misfires a smidge on idle (not picked up with a OBD, but I can hear it) The uprated NGK plugs are a recommendation of most mapping companies, wouldn't stray from that. That's all I meant by running them on a remapped car.

That said. You will need upgraded NGK if you are mapped

NGK have a longer life but don't provide the same spark quality as the Denso ones. That's the difference. I can commit to changing plugs every year, so I have Denso.

Fabia MK2 VRS 'The Red Baron'
Nothing nice to say, say nothing at all 🙊🙊 Not like most rwd cars have mismatched tires or anything anyway.

Induction on 1.4 twincharger
Wasn't paranoia. Had a lose boost pipe from the BOV. After spending far too long in the rain with some ridiculously stiff jubilee clips, they're all on tighter now

Don't have to be LED, just want something whiter

And if I wanted to swap to LEDs on the numberplate, what do I need?

Interior lighting
Hi everyone, I tried a little search for this but couldn't find anything for a fabia 2. I want to change the interior light (next to the rear view mirror) for one thats whiter and not completely useless. Anyone done this before and have bulb recommendations?

Induction on 1.4 twincharger
Managed a 6.6 second run to 60mph yesterday, so, can't be anything wrong with it. Going to put it down to paranoia

Induction on 1.4 twincharger
I wondered if I had a vac or boost leak. Just took it out for some hard pulls from various speeds and got peak boost @1.3bar and peak intake manifold pressure @2.2bar. So they look ok to me. i like the induction noises, but don't want to hamper performance. Been monitoring intake temps and found that an open air filter gets about 4-5°C higher than ambient temp outside. So, will do the same data logging on the standard airbox and see what the difference is.

And regarding the feeling that its not ejecting as loudly as normal?

Induction on 1.4 twincharger
Perhaps I should be looking at the BOV, seeing if there's anything wrong with that?

Induction on 1.4 twincharger
Well, the old one was nearly new. Changed in August. I'm not sure if I am just being paranoid, because its now making different sounds. Can you think of any reason it might be different all of a sudden?

Induction on 1.4 twincharger
Pre-notes - car is 100% standard apart from a resonator delete, Forge BOV and the air filter I shall be talking about. So, I have fitted an open air filter to my car and been monitoring it over the past few weeks using my OBD live information. I have noticed over the past couple of days that the characteristics of the BOV have changed. And I'm wondering why, so any insight/ideas would be nice. When I put my foot down at the moment, it dumps a tiny bit of air before starting to pull. You can hear it and its a very short 'tsch' noise. It only seems to dump when I am at higher RPM or I pull really hard at low RPM. Previously, anytime you lift off the throttle, it dumps like a bus airbrake. The amount of air being dumped sounds like its less than it was? Can only go off sound here, as I'm not truly sure. Downshifting when high in rpm used to produce a small dump too, that has now gone away too. I'm going to put the standard airbox back on and see if these characteristics go away. I'm just puzzled because its been on for 2 weeks and its only just started to change. The performance of the car is still the same. I spoke to a guy I know who is a VAG fanboy and he told me that changes to the intake can take a while to make a difference since the ECU takes time to realise it's getting more/less air and adjust accordingly. Not sure how true that is, either. Just looking for thoughts and potential reasons for the above scenario happening. If you've nothing constructive to write, runalong.
