Extension of Cambelt change - as of 2 August 2023.
Two days ago, my eldest son - who drives a diesel VW Cali - advised me that VW UK has fallen into line with Cambelt changes as they apply to VW diesels on the Continent and that the number of years by which a cambelt change is due, no longer applies. As my 2018 Skoda Superb is due a cambelt change at the 5 year point in November 2023, I decided to call Skoda UK Customer Services - today 2 August 2023 - and enquire as to whether they had any mileage change akin to the VW UK statement. After sometime on hold, their agent came back and advised that the 5 year rule has been discarded and my car - identified by the registration number - does not require a belt change until it has completed 140,000miles. As my car has only run 25,000 miles, this is good news indeed. Perhaps the more tech savvy guys out there can make this known to ALL Skoda Diesel owners who subscribe to Briskoda.net. I suggested to the Skoda agent that they should be telling us and not the other way round! Anyway, for those not aware of this change, I hope this information helps you save a few pounds?

Towing without 4x4 or DCC
As Baverhanne says, try it before changing. I have a 2018 TDI 190 much the same as yours, but with DSG. The Superb is a great tow car - my Caravan is just about the same weight as yours, I have never had a problem. Keep the nose weight to around 80kgs, increase the rear tyre pressures to the fully loaded recommendation, and you will be well pleased with the result. Having towed with a variety of big caravans, with an equal variety of small, medium and big tow cars, the Superb tops the list for me. Mind you, I probably need a bit more towing experience - only been doing it since 1972 - a mere 48 years. Happy towing!

Superb Estate Mk3 for Towing Caravan
I have been towing 48 years this year and had a wide variety of tow cars in that time. I have also been a Skoda fan for a decade and towed with two Yetis and an Octavia Estate. A year ago a got a very low mileage 2018 Superb SEL Exec, 190bhp, DSG and it is the best tow car I have ever had. The cruise control and DSG works like a dream and the Caravan is rock steady. The L&K that you are looking at looks a good buy - that model usually sells quickly, so get on with it if are interested. Phil Taylor at Horndean, Hampshire is where I have had my last three towers fitted - they really know what they are doing! Never had any overheating issues with any DSG Skoda - you won't need a cooling upgrade. Good luck - - let the guys on here know what you finally settle for? Best regards.

Nearest MK3 equivalent to Mk2 2.0 TDi 170 Elegance?
Since 2001, I have had a Fabia VRS, Octavia Estate, three Yetis ( 170, 150, and a 1.2 petrol) and now a 2018 Superb SEL Exec 190 TDi. So, I have sampled quiet a few Skoda cars over two decades. My favourite - until buying the Superb a year ago - was the 170 Yeti in Elegance trim. Plenty of power, a good tow car and lovely brakes, with the bigger discs on the front. However, the Superb is in a class of its own. I cannot really fault this car, other than the P7 tyres which don't inspire confidence in the wet and are inclined to 'chatter' if you pull away too quickly. The slightly bigger engine gives it that extra get up and go without the loss of a decent MPG - 48+ around town, 32 when towing, and a recent trip solo down to Cornwall returned 58mpg. The brakes are just like the 170 Yeti - the car is very comfortable, quiet and a joy to own. Hope this helps?
