  1. Thanks both, It's the standard facelift 230. Trying to work out which pads fit now 🤔
  2. Thanks, do you know the rear size too please?
  3. Thanks for all the help everyone. Just to clarify, I'm wondering what size discs and pads I need. I think it's 340mm up front for the discs.
  4. Excellent, thanks. Can the sound generator be disabled entirely from the info screen?
  5. My preferred mode is Sport as I like the extra weight in the steering and the sharper throttle response. Less keen on the fake engine noise but I'm sure I can get rid of it when I learn how to configure the Individual driving mode.
  6. Thanks both. Expected mileage is 8k per year. Tempted to at least change the oil annually.
  7. Hi, picked up a 17 plate VRS on Tuesday and slowly getting to know it. I have a couple of questions so please indulge me 🙂 1. Can the infodot system be changed to show things like speed or average mpg? I can't seem to work it out 2. I'm on the 2yr service schedule. Who decides that and is it changable? I'm not that comfortable with 2yr service intervals. 3. Is there somehwere that lists what maintenance items are due and when? e.g. brake fluid, coolant, pollen filter etc 4. What brake discs and pads do I need (they look a bit worn)? It's a petrol VRS 5. Anyone know of an Octavia dog guard that doesn't attach to the headrests? I've had to remove the headrests as the kid's car seats get in the way.
  8. With my children finally exiting private childcare I no longer needed to drive the motoring equivalent of purgatory (Kia Ceed SW) as my family car but still needed a lot of boot space. I also wanted some pace with decent handling whilst not being too expensive to run. My original budget was up to 10k but I somehow ended up with rampant budget creep and ended up looking at mk3 Octavia estates. I also considered the Leon Cupra estate and Golf R estate but the greater space and more staid image of the Skoda appealed. Spotted this a week or so ago at a Skoda dealer in the New Forest and put a deposit on it as it was almost in my ideal spec being meteor grey with black pack+, front parking sensors, low mileage and the silver interior stitching. Being Skoda Approved I paid a fair whack but I'm happy with the service I got and the 12 month warranty etc. I picked this up on Tuesday and have been enjoying driving it since then, including a 150 mile journey back from the dealer. Initial thoughts are mainly positive but with some negatives. Let's do the positives first: I love the colour (but realise it's a bit marmite). The car is in excellent condition. The ride quality on the 19s is surprisingly good I think it's a handsome car for a family estate The boot and rear space The car feels very good for the quoted power and torque figures Handles well enough Glad I went for the manual gearbox Negatives: I'm not a fan of the alloys which I think are overly large and a bit garish. I may change these. Also not a fan of the fake exhaust tips and fake engine noise in sport mode. Booms a bit at motorway speeds Not much steering feel Wheel hop... Before I bought it I thought about a stage 1 remap and fitting an underseat sub but I don't think either are must haves. I will probably get the underside and cavities dinitrolled as I plan on keeping the car for a long while. Anyway, enough rambling, here's a picture
  9. I suppose I should add my name to the list. I picked up a 17 plate petrol VRS on Tuesday. Manual and meteor grey. Are separate threads on your car, with pics, allowed or is it the done thing to update here on your thoughts on the car and questions?
  10. Watching with interest as I'm picking up a meteor grey estate on Tuesday and am looking to change the colour. I'm not a fan of black either but not sure about anthracite just yet, maybe it's a bit too light with the black pack. Decisions, decisions.
  11. Yeah I know it's the same wheel was just trying to visualise the colour of the wheel from the red car on a meteor grey one. I definitely don't want black. As you say, anthracite is a good option.
  12. Hi, are there any photoshop users out there who could add the wheels from the red car to the grey car please? Virtual drink, man hug and good karma if you can help 😊 Thanks!
  13. Also, anyone want to see some extreme curb rash?!
  14. Does anyone know what the grey on the inner spokes of the Geminis and Xremes is please? Looks like titan grey but I'm not sure. Thinking of painting the Geminis all one colour but need to decide which one looks best with the meteor grey paintwork.
  15. Was that with DCC? The looks are subjective but they certainly fill the arches.
  16. 100% agree, I was talking about the current situation but the future does look bleak. I'm still on the fence about the 18s v 19s but leaning towards the 18s...
  17. I don't think used car prices are dropping. If anything I think they've firmed up. Less new cars = less supply on used market. More demand for 2nd hand cars as people worry about being tied into lengthy leases. Higher demand and lower supply = price rises.
  18. Picked my Geminis up and they're heavily curbed so will need refurbishment. Now to choose a colour. I suppose I'm wondering if they're genuine Skoda wheels. Is there a way to tell? Did they produce the Gemini in a silver finish?
  19. Anyone bought a rear seat cover lately? I could do with one to protect my seats from the kids!
  20. As luck would have it a set of 18 Geminis have come up locally and I've agreed a price. They're silver and need a refurb. If I like the Xtremes I'll either keep the Geminis for winter wheels or move them on.
  21. Interesting info, thanks.
  22. Great sluething, thank you! Not much in it, to be fair.
  23. Is it true the Xtremes are lighter than the Geminis? And has anyone verified that?
  24. I could see anthracite working quite well on a meteor grey estate with the black pack. Though the rear disc to rim ratio would haunt me forever 😂
  25. Wow, they look like completely different wheels. And so much better in my opinion. Good to know this is an option.
