  1. Sounds to me more like the fob's got out of sync with the central locking somehow. Do you have a spare, and does that work? If so, there ought to be something in the manual about reprogramming extra keys that you could follow to get the iffy one working again...

Might be a dodgy unlock button as well, I suppose - spare key should eliminate that too!

  2. Hi everyone. So my Superb is running like a dream but..................when the indicator clciked back into place, there was a clicking sound coming from the dashboard, around the centre of it and it sounds like the indicator but goes very fast and/or intermittenly. It does it when it feels like it but what seems to start it off is when I indicate.

All the indicators are working on and when it goes into clicking overdrive the lights themselves don't come on nor do the ones on the dashboard.

I have seen on here a couple of commentas about the heater doing this but I don't think so, as it sounds like the indicator clicking sound.

    Anyone got any ideas???

  3. Hi all.

I have the Symphony stereo with the tape player in my Superb - which I have been using to play all my old tapes that I don't have or can't get on cd. Today though, I put in a tape and couldn't hear it. Turned the volume to max and all I could hear was what sounded like music recorded underwater!

I played the tape on another tape deck I have and the same thing happened, so I tried another tape that works fine and this did the same.

I dug out an old tape headcleaner and ran it through the home system and the tape (that had already played ok) now sounded like new. So I tried the headcleaner in the car steroeo but no joy:(

It seems that the tape had caused all the problems so that's now binned, but any idea how I can sort out the in car stereo, as I really would like to carry on playing my tapes!!

  4. well they've replaced the convenience control module and had all the flooring up and can't find the problem. It's not wet, they've checked the plenium etc etc. They have sent off for a new diagnostic disc from VW and this detected a broken wire. This has now been replaced and....

    still not solved the problem.

They have me over a barrel, as I need the car for my work and if I hand it back/request a refund, i'll have lost out on getting the insurance changed, the tax disc ( i got a 12 month one the day I bought the car) etc.

Okay, they've given me a passat to use until mines fixed, but that's not the point.

    I don't know what to do :( :( :(

  5. So, I picked up the 03 plate Superb on Friday and I had to return it to the dealer ship on Monday morning!

All the interior lights not working, mirror lights not working, central locking only works for the drivers door (on the remote) etc etc.

Now it's saturday and they still can't trace the fault - it's not the wet floor syndrome though, as they have had that all out and done the diagnostics etc and they're stumped.

So, i've got the loan car for another week!

Anyone got any suggestions as they are having no luck!!

  6. Hi all

I made the plunge and bought an 03 plate Superb elegance today.

Drove it home from Derby and it was great.

Only prob is the central locking. It only opens the drivers door despite the other knobs moving slightly but not releasing.

I've tried clicking the button twice but no joy. The only way to open them is to use the key in the lock or to press the button on the drivers door.

I did read the other posts about this but none of them mention that the motors whirring and the buttons "wiggling".

    Any suggestions?

  7. I have given back to my employer today a fully expensed astra and gone for the case option and bought an 03 pllatre superb. The reason?

I need comfort for the amount fo miles I drive (due to an old back injury) and the astra has made my bacl prob 100 times worse. I was having to drop painkillers like sweets before, during and after a long journey.

Why anyone would choose to own one is beyond me. It's the most uncomfortable car I have ever driven - and I had a skoda 135i back in the day!!

  8. okay, now i may be acting really thick here, but i've just opted out of the fully expensed co. car scheme and gone for the cash option/mileage instead.

    My question is:

As they will pay me 14p per mile (diesel) and the government allowance is 40p per mile (for the first 10000 miles), does this mean I will also get the difference of 26p per mile back as tax relief? i.e. I will still get 40p per mile but split between my employer and the government?

    I'm really confused :o

  9. I've been going round this BH weekend looking at superbs and none of the car places are willing to haggle. All give the same b*ll**** about them selling at low prices = fast turnover. One salesman said he wouldn't even knock £90 off a £9000 superb on an 04 plate with 40000 miles on the clock with very obvious signs of wear and tear!

Another place said they wouldn't knock anything off - even when I said it didn't meet the specs I wanted and would have to walk away unless we could talk price. The saleman tried everything in the book - even his boss and colleagues coming over and raving about the car - but would not discuss price.

Considering there was only 2 other people in the whole place and they have well over 2,000 cars on their forecourt and we're in a recession you would think they would at least be willing to negotiate!

So here's the deals from what i've found:

An 04 Superb Comfort 1.9 TDI PD 130 with 31000 on the clock for £8000

A 54 plate superb in excellent condition with 21000 miles on the clock (classic 1.9 PD130) for £8500.

An 03 plate 1.9 elegance superb 45000 miles one owner excellent condition for £8000.

    But then I found this:

A Skoda Octavia - 1.9 TDI PD Elegance on an 05 plate 40000 on the clock - excellent condition for £8000.

Seeing as how I need the cruise control (lots of motorway driving) which isn't on the classic but it has the lower mileage i'm not too sure what one of these is the better deal or will be the best economy / cost wise (i'll be doing approx 40,000 miles a year and I need the car to last me at least 4 years). The classic one is over my budget and to have the cruise fitted will cost me even more, but with such low mileage i'm just not sure what to do!

    Any suggestions?

  10. reading the posts it loks as though it's been traded in. Still, it will need a cambelt / service soon - this will blow my budget! ( I have to stick to it as it's based on what my employers are giving me minus tax, insurance etc)

    Thanx for the headsup though!

Out of curiosity, what about a superb i've seen on here? it has 81k on the clock already though so not sure.

  11. hi all

I need some advice. I'm getting a cash option from my employers towards a car (previously had a crappy astra co. car but it's too uncomfortable). It will be fixed for 4 years and seeing as how i'll be doing about 40,000 miles a year I need it to be comfortable and able to do 160k miles over the 4 year period!

A new car is out of the question as i've set a budget of £7500.

What would be the max mileage already on a skoda to be able to add my approx mileage to?

Am I looking in vain taking into the budget i'm working on?

What alternative cars should I consider? (comfort is the key, as I suffer with a bad lower back).

    Thanks.

  12. Hi all

    2nd post (first one disappeared!)

I've got a 56 plate Octavia with the built in sat nav (part of the music system with the big ol' screen). For some reason it just froze today and now it won't work at all.

I removed the disc, reloaded it, turned off the car - everything! All it says when I load the disc is enabling skodanavigation but it hangs on this screen - forever :o

The cd player works fine if I load a music disc though.

I have a 2006 skodanavigation disc disc as well but that does the same.

    Any suggestions?

Taking it to the dealers to look at isn't really an option, as it's a lease car and I need it all the time for work!
