  1. It kicks in at full speed by the sounds of it then drops down to about half.
  2. Yep both fans do kick in on the self test.
  3. Yes. Is it possible to switch the fans on with it?
  4. I don't think I have ever actually seen them spinning. Is there any easy way to test? The car has never overheated since I have owned it so why would that effect the AC?
  5. Not for a long time. Although if it was the filter wouldn't it just not blow very powerful? Plenty of air comes out it is just not very cold.
  6. I re-gassed my AC a couple of months back and it has held pressure fine but over the past few hot days I have noticed that the aircon really isnt very effective. I can hear the compressor working and it shows up as around 80% percent compressor load in vagcom just the air doesn't feel very cold and it wont chill the cabin very much. Could something not be functioning correctly or does the fabia just have pretty ineffective ac?
  7. Sorry to resurrect such an old post but I just can't find the top hat piece. Is it the black plastic part pointed at by the arrow?
  8. Mine does have a compatible control unit. I can see that a wire goes into the brake peddle plug and one goes behind the instrument cluster however where does the t6y plug go? cc install.pdf
  9. It definitely has an electronic throttle.
  10. Looking to retrofit cruise control onto my sdi as have been doing quite a bit of motorway driving through average speed zones. I have read on older posts that it is dependent on what ECU is fitted but where would I find that information? I have read that it may not be possible to fit the the sdi engine due to the lower power output? Seems a shame if that is the case as mine eats up motorway miles happily.
  11. Sorry ended up that the new plug was wired up in a different order to the old one. Switched some of the wires around and it works fine now. Must have been from a later model car.
  12. I ended up buying a replacement door lock and mechanism and plug. However I have encountered another seemingly random issue. The door lock now does exactly the opposite of what it is supposed to. If I lock from the drivers door all the doors lock but passenger door unlocks, if I lock from passenger door it locks the passenger door but unlocks all the others. Any ideas about where I might have gone wrong? All the wire colours seem to match up.
  13. Does anyone have a decent guide for retrofitting cruise control? I have read it shouldn't be too difficult but can't find any decent instructions.
  14. Thanks. I ended up finding that if I held the plug at an angle it would make contact and work fine. Ended up cutting part of the plastic surround and clip off of the connector so it would fit further in then super gluing it in place. Not an ideal solution but should hopefully suffice.
  15. (The stripped green wire going to pin 4 seems to be the one that causes that activates the lock when tapped against the earth.)
  16. I have diagnosed the issue to the plug that goes into the door lock. Sometimes I can just about push the wire into the plug and it will work. I have stripped two of the wires and when tapping them together or through a resistor it locks/unlocks. How can I push the metal connectors out of that plug? If not where could I get another plug?
  17. I found two earth wires spliced together in the door covered by some tape. Is this an aftermarket fix or done in the factory? One side goes to the door open light other side up to the lock. Looks to have been done okay though.
  18. I am guessing that earth is broken then since when it works both the light comes on when the door is open and exterior lock unlocks/locks both both stop when it isnt? I cant find a break in the wires anywhere visible inside the door or in the bellows even went as far as cutting a lot of the protective tape and separating the wires out. I then went and shorted the pins in the door connector with a screwdriver to check if the issue was with them and it locked then the fuse went for the locking in the drivers side panel :(.
  19. I am guessing that, Brown = power Green + blue = lock/unlock Blue + Red and Purple + Yellow is the lock motor However what are pink + white and blue + red doing? Is it some sort of locking sensor?
  20. Do you know which colour wire goes to the lock?
  21. After changing the speaker on the passenger door the external lock does not work and the light on the bottom of the door does not come on. If I lock/unlock the car from the driver side the passenger side locks/unlocks fine. The passenger side lock used to be similarly intermittent (sometimes it would work fine sometimes just lock or unlock). After removing the door card once to have a look at the speaker in November it started working fine and had been fine until I changed the speaker today. Are there any wires going to the lock/handle between the door card and the metal liner that I could have nocked loose or could I have just disturbed it in the hinge baffle? (couldn't see any split wires in the baffle though).
  22. Easy fix? Does seem strange to me that it works when moving fast though and I can get a normal range of temperatures out of it. Is the temperature supposed to be electronically regulated? i.e. when set to 20c on the nob it will regulate the cabin temperature to 20c?
  23. It does take awhile but keeps temperature fine after I changed the thermostat. I assumed that was normal with these sdi engines though?
  24. I can usually find a good temperature if I finely balance the nob at around the 16c mark but any other position their is either no heat or gas mark 100. When going down the motorway though it seems fine until I slow down again. Anyone have any suggestions or should I just stop complaining?
