  1. I've started filling up with veg oil from Sainsbury's again given the ridiculous cost of diesel at the moment. Seems to run pretty happily on 100% undiluted rapeseed oil which costs about £1.05 a ltr but has reduced my average mpg by about 10%.
  2. I had a local mobile windscreen guy replace mine a while back. Cost about £250 and took around an hour. The mark on the bottom of the screen says Pilkington glass, I have no issue with the quality seems just like any car windscreen. Not a job I would like to attempt myself.
  3. The pas oil level looked to have dropped by about 200ml. After topping up it seems to be working ok again.
  4. I am having a bizarre issue with the pas on my fabia. When I first start the car the steering is really heavy (virtually unassisted) unless I turn the wheel really slowly and it seems to be able to keep up. When moving it feels heavier than it used to but fine. Once the car has been warmed up and driven for 30 minutes or so PAS seems to operate pretty much as normal unless I turn the wheel side to side quickly at which point it again feels like it can't keep up. It does seem to help it a little when first started if the wheel is slowly turned fully to the left + right a few times. Unfortunately I am on holiday at the moment so don't have any tools with me but I have checked the fuse on top of the battery which appears to be fine, no light on the dash (so I am assuming no codes logged), battery is only 10 months old and seems healthy, lights dim slightly when steering the car at a standstill but it has done that since I have owned it, previous owner had the pas pump replaced 5-6 years ago so that should be ok. My steering fluid does leak slowly but I topped it up February/March so it should have plenty remaining. I am a bit stumped as to what could be causing this do you have any suggestions?
  5. I would have thought he only recycled the gas back into the machine as he had run a vacuum and knew it was pure r134a. I suspect that any existing gas in the system is sent for recycling not least because it could be contaminated with moisture from the leak?
  6. I have visually inspected everything I could. Haven't checked the condenser unit though since it is hidden in the dash. I suspect those are the only two leaks since it does take a while to leak out.
  7. I will try it with a generic AC quick connect release tool since I can't find the VAS one anywhere online. Do you know what size the O ring seal should be? 6Q0298260 seems massively expensive for 1 seal, c clip and plastic insert. I did see somewhere that it wasn't a standard size that would be included in one of the repair kits.
  8. Thanks. Do you know how to separate item 34? Doesn't look obvious to me.
  9. Also looks like this bit is leaking from the point with the arrow.
  10. I suspect as in the picture that my ac is leaking slowly from the low pressure side. How difficult is it to replace that seal? And which part would I need?
  11. I think that most the advantage is from the removal of all the emission/noise control settings evening out the fuelling. I am defiantly not flooring it as much as I used to. I like my sdi though, only time I feel its underpowered is on steep slip roads/hills on the motorway. Around town in 2-3rd gear as long as you keep it over 1300 revs it can feel relatively spritely overtakes bikes etc fine. Certainly feels better than my mates 1.2 Corser or 1.0 108. Reason I bought it is for the fuel economy, reliability and its ability to run on veg oil. Only thing is over 2000ish revs it does seem to get pretty noisy in the cabin and you end up changing gear frequently. I tend to change up at around 1700 revs - good for economy not performance.
  12. Not ideal but you can disable the immobilizer on the ECU. There are a few places online that will do it by mail order relatively inexpensively.
  13. A stage 1 remap does make a significant difference on the sdi. Feels more lively and pulls much better from lower revs. I am not sure you will get the same effect from a tuning box though. Tougher coils on the back also make a noticeable difference.
  14. Thanks I meant the fill plug. Approximately how much oil does it take? I may as well change it all as it will be pretty old. Should I fill it as much as it will take or is there a max mark?
  15. Looks like I have the bolt in figure 1. What size spline is it?
