Heated Windshield
I have the winter pack with the heated seats, steering wheel and windshield but during the last few months of rubbish wether I've not been impressed at all with the heated windshield. I've just been told by a friend that he doesn't think I have a heated windshield as it doesn't seem to have a copper hue that the VW group ones should. I can't tell but I can't tell what it's supposed to look like anyway! Is there any way of identifying/confirming I have the correct windshield? Could they have fitted the wrong one at the factory as a simple mistake? It would explain the terrible performance during the recent cold weather as well. I've got a photo of the marking on the screen attached if anybody knows how to check this.

Difference between SEL and SEL First Edition
I tried speccing my exact one (FE 1.5 TSI with metallic paint, rear camera and winter pack) to see what the difference was and the SEL costs around £1500 extra than the same car as a FE at RRP. I imagine it's even more with the favourable finance terms Skoda were offering on the first editions too (if you go down that route). I think the extras included "for free" were the electric driver's seat, ambient lighting, electric memory folding mirrors, blind spot assist and the spot lights in the mirrors. Not things I would personally spec as must have extras but certainly nice to have included as opposed to paying £1500!

Octavia Mk IV irritations: poor LED lights and Auto hold traumas!
Not at all, sounds like its sticking or something. My auto hold releases the second I touch the accelerator, the only time it has had any form of noticeable resistance is first thing on a cold morning with the parking brake light still on, even then it didn't groan or anything. As for the lights I've come from a 2016 Scirocco with standard lights and before that fairly run of the mill/cheaper cars, I find the standard LEDs much much brighter than any I've had and easily on a par with some of my friends more expensive cars. I'd love to drive one with the upgraded LEDs to see what the difference is but doubt I will get to do that anytime soon.

Skoda connect problem
They've merged various Skoda apps today apparently so I'm expecting everything to go down

Lack of SD card slots
Sorry, being weird with the photos. This is most of the stuff I have left, theres a travel mug, a pen and some metal keyrings in the big box too. There was also some screen wash but that's long gone.

Lack of SD card slots
- Octavia mk4 hatchback SE First Edition 1.5 Tsi
3rd to 4th has a little resistance for me but doesn't feel like it shouldn't be there (I'm not explaining that well). It kind of feels like the little notch you get when it settles into neutral and then another notch into 4th. I just assumed it was supposed to be like that, caught me out the first few days until I was used to it.- Lack of SD card slots
The dealer gave me a couple USB-C adapters, they were SEAT branded ones because Skoda hadn't sent theirs out yet but he said all the new mk4s should have these in the welcome pack thing (the keyrings, mugs, lanyards etc in the box they give you).- Octavia 1.5SEL Manual First Edition, First Thoughts
The reverse mirror drop caught me out initially, you have to have the little joystick on the driver's door pointing to "L" and when you engage reverse it will dip down. You can move it around to the desired ground view and it will remember for the next time.- Heads up display not showing traffic signs
Wouldn't be accepting that answer from CS! This is their own website explicitly stating that it displays detected traffic signs! There's a wee video there, is it an option that's not been ticked in the menu possibly? https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/press-kits/skoda-octavia-press-kit/comfort-safety-head-up-display-and-ergonomic-seats-make-their-debut/- Update
So my infotainment just decided to work again today. Popped up with a couple of notifications that the digital manual had installed successfully and some sort of map update was complete. That's when I noticed the little globe icon was lit and connected. Managed to sign in as my user again (had to repeat the primary user process to get the app working) and all seems working as normal. Well, the internet radio isn't but it IS listed as activated as part of the included infotainment online package you get for the first year and my phone doesn't always automatically connect via Bluetooth without me selecting it from the list (I think this is more of an android issue though, I need to check with an iPhone/different android phone). I'll leave it a few days/week to see if it's stays working as normal before calling the dealer to cancel though. Might just give them it anyway and see if they find anything. All a bit bizarre to be honest.- Annoying things about the Mk4!
Can I ask what software version yours has? Mine says 1664 on one bit and unknown on another bit. It's going to the dealer at the end of the month anyway, I'm finding more Gremlins while I wait though. Such as, I can only sign in as a guest so that may be the reason why loads of things always reset (like favourite radio stations, temp settings, sat nav destinations, etc) and my keyless entry stopped working on the rear doors. One thing I did discover is I have headlight washers, which I have never had before and my word do they have a powerful jet! The splash radius soaked a poor bloke walking past as I was sitting at the lights 😂- Voice control
Yeah, "My arse is cold" worked for the seats and "turn the blowers down/off" worked for the air con speed for me.- Update
Got the car booked in to the dealer's for the head unit but the earliest is 3rd November! Not happy but it is what it is. Skoda UK reckon it's a faulty head unit (see photo, unit can't even detect what kind of unit it is!) when I was on the phone, came up with Bluetooth errors and this morning decided to show me the engineers menu and demand an update from a USB. I don't think they set it up properly when they were prepping the car for handover.- Update
I'm now waiting on the dealer calling me back to arrange a meeting with the service department. The unit has now completely lost all connections and it's like it's starting up for the first time everytime you get in the car. Hey ho.- Update
- Update
I meant to add, did anybody else notice if the internet radio went down too at the same time? I hadn't used it before I started pressing buttons this morning trying to get it to work but it just came back as unavailable. Not sure if this is related or a separate issue I haven't noticed before. I'll find out when Skoda connect starts back I guess.- Update
I'm starting to think this may be the case, it will hopefully sort itself out in a few days. I'm also hoping it's an update to sort out early Bluetooth teething issues with this infotainment system- Update
Noticed last night the app wouldn't update with the latest journey info, car location, etc and then this morning this happened to me too. When I parked up at work it mentioned something about my account being available next time I input my s-pin and then when I went round and opened the passenger door it welcomed me back using my name/profile. I do live in a slightly patchy area for mobile signal (down a hill behind a tallish building that seems to block out signals) and I'm hoping it's on skodas server end and it's not that the car can't get it's signal when I'm parked at home.- Skoda Connect not working
I had similar issues when I first tried to create a user profile and make it primary. The solution for me was to connect the car via WiFi to my home internet and it downloaded a patch and then everything worked properly. I can't unlock or lock the doors/windows (haven't done any I'd check thing with the dealer) but I don't know if that's even a feature I would want. The flash and honk thing works though. Meant to add, had to be connected to home WiFi, couldn't make a hotspot on my phone and use that as the car didn't like it for some reason.- Wireless Android Auto
Hi all, new here and found this topic. Picked up an Octavia SEL First edition last week and loving it so far. Couple of niggles though, the main one being my phone won't automatically connect via Bluetooth. It's paired up and the phone and car find each other but I have to manually select my phone from the list on the car each time. Once done it works seamlessly for music, calls, etc. Any ideas? It's a Samsung note 10 on Android 10. Skoda chat said there's issues with android 10 and Bluetooth but wouldn't expand on whether that was in general or specifically with these Columbus units. The android auto wireless doesn't connect for me either although I wasn't expecting it to (it is a ticked option in the phone settings menu though). Anybody know what the latest software versions should be too? Skoda UK chat kept ignoring that request when I asked what it should be. Thanks - Octavia mk4 hatchback SE First Edition 1.5 Tsi
