  1. I have the winter pack and the easiest way to visually tell imo is that the next time you're parked next to somebody in a car park, stand a few steps away at an angle and compare the tint of your car and the cars next to its windscreen. The heated one will be noticeably more orange/copper/reflective than a standard windscreen. I've not been hugely impressed with the performance of this version of a heated windscreen though, my brother in law has a volvo with the thin wires and it performs much better and faster. I've got a Cupra Formentor on order to replace the Skoda and I've not bothered with the screen this time. It's bizarre the only way to activate it is seemingly the button hidden away in the climate menu, pressing the heated steering wheel button and/or the rear window heating should activate it as well but is that too obvious?
  2. Mine is booked in for tomorrow for the same pop pop SOS issue as detailed by people in the thread, was going to leave it until the service was due in a few months as it wasn't much of a issue to me (used android auto for GPS, etc) but when it decided it was going to just dial the emergency services of its own volition I decided to book it! See what story I get told, theres a few other things playing up too, the Adaptive cruise control thinking it's in Europe so braking in the fast lane, the air con just straight up ignores the control to stop blowing cold air even when it's already colder than Climate control states, and also inexplicably the wee plastic vent on one of the passenger side means I can't close the vent anymore, no idea how that could have possibly happened. Mine was "B" and was upgraded to "F" during its last routine service, it's also what got Android auto wireless and a number of other things resolved (and seemingly opened a new can of software worms). I was only upgraded to 1810 at the time though but dealer didn't say any hardware was replaced directly for the Infotainment but I did get a new windscreen as the camera/radar/rain sensor thing had come loose and as it was a heated one they had to replace it (?).
  3. Just back from the dealer after a service and 3 software updates, I went from a B suffix to an F, 1668 to 1810 and no hardware was replaced. First brief play about suggests THIS is what should have been launched with the car much more responsive, Bluetooth actually connects, android auto wireless works, remembers settings! FINALLY. Felt like driving a new car off the lot again when I drove out the dealers
  4. I have a B suffix and due to go in for a service and all the updates next week, will wait and see. One interesting thing was when I booked it and asked about the updates, I knew about 2 of them (97C1 and 69BN) but the woman on the service desk said it was due 3 updates. She then said "let me read this ones description" before telling me that it could take up to 3 days for this update to complete. Seemed like a fairly arbitrary number to pluck out of thin air for a software update and she wouldn't go into details instead referring me to "the service guys will explain". This stuff annoys me, I'm a big boy - just tell me what is going to happen to my £28k multi ton lump of metal that I sit inside of and paid for, then fix the problem.
  5. Its not night vision but I've never had an issue tbh, either the street lighting is sufficient or the actual reverse and brake lights do the job on illuminating while reversing in my experience
  6. I need a new dash cam as the battery is goosed in mine but would that be the option here? A dash cam with a decent battery so it can keep its own power while parked and then charges again while driving. Unless this is for long term parking or something where it's not very viable.
  7. As far as the brochure goes, everything on the SE L is included as well as whats listed for the SE (unless this is upgraded then it will also state this).
  8. https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/0bcfc2d5-654f-49b2-a524-91e141293e36 Page 12, its their own brochure direct from the configurator. Its advertised as a feature now for entry level SE cars. This may prove an issue for me as I distinctly remember the brochure when I bought mine that it was AA via USB only, but if others are getting features like this enabled in updates then I damn sure want mine done too!
  9. https://ws.skoda-auto.com/OwnersManualService/Data/en/Octavia_NX/11-2020/Manual/Octavia/A8_Octavia_OwnersManual.pdf Page 134. Seems fairly clear to me there that it should be.
  10. I have the manual Gearbox, I did mention it when it was in the dealer for other issues but just got the standard line of "We're not aware of any engine problems" or words to that effect. I didn't push it as I didn't( and still don't from my experience) really consider it an issue, Winter got to around -8/-10 in the early mornings for periods last winter around here so you may get affected more with your weather.
  11. A little bit of further digging in Poland this time. This person - https://forum.skodaclub.pl/tech-skoda-octavia4/infotainment-octavia-iv-poradnik-problemy-opinie-t32599-510.html#p338025 - suggests they updated from 1668 with a device number end in C to the latest software and a device code ending in G which appears to have fixed every software issue. Called the dealer to discuss and as per they didn't know what it entailed. They said they'll call me back when they find out but I won't hold my breath.
  12. Car has been very smooth engine wise since I bought it, I read similar stories when I was waiting on delivery and got a bit worried that I'd bought a lemon with a dodgy engine. Only time I've ever had any trouble with the "Kangarooing" was deep into WInter and it had been sitting outside in zero and below for a full day and night. Car started perfectly fine but was a little jumpy in first gear for around 200m before settling down. Kinda felt like you changed up a gear too soon at slow speeds. Responded perfectly fine if I put the foot down a little to increase the revs and the car responded as expected when pulling out at a junction so never felt it was unsafe or a danger.
  13. I'm due my first service soon so I started checking around to see if any of the software updates/recalls mentioned elsewhere (Particularly for the early First Editions with different hardware) have been rolled out yet. Handily I found this website: https://aus.skoda.com.au/request/vin-checker I know its Skoda Australia website but the checker works as it uses the VIN so I got a result and I apparently have an outstanding software "campaign" with the code number 69BN. I also confirmed this with Skoda UK via Twitter DM but they wouldn't shed any light on what this actually was. The very limited info I can find on this is from a German Skoda forum (and google translate is a bit ropey!) which suggests this is a full update for "Update of the 4 control sections. (MIB 3 egg, instrument cluster, ESC, airbag)" but no further info is given. Has anybody had this update and can shed a bit more light on what it consists of? I want to make sure I'm getting the full updates when I hand it in and don't get fobbed off with a software update thats just the sat nav map update or something because the dealers can't be bothered! Its insane to me that no patch notes are provided for car updates to explain EXACTLY whats been done, particularly if as suggested elsewhere it involves Air Bags or other critical safety functions!
  14. This is my first car that didn't come with a full spare wheel so I don't know if its a standard thing or not but the cannister and pump provided are separate bits of kit. The cannister attaches to the tyre and then the pump attaches to the cannister (is this different on other cars?), the pump itself is just a normal tyre pump that can be used directly on the tyre to top up the pressures. Just good timing I used it earlier today when the pressure warning light came on! Still think I'll buy a spare wheel before winter though...
