  1. Thanks for all your advice. I have just been 'experimenting' with my wheelie bin - changing the warning from early, medium to late - sure enough, the car bleeps away and nothing ... I ended up pushing my bin along the road haha. So I need to speak to my dealer and see what he says - ho hum.
  2. Of course, here you go https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-VW-Washer-Fluid-Filler-Cap-Lid-Screen-Wash-Funnel-6V0955485-000096706/174197511055?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D79aa5930beee4d39bc39603b80dadb52%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D10%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D233749183742%26itm%3D174197511055%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Abca63347-3b90-11eb-beb9-6620571faa3d%7Cparentrq%3A511106f31760a9e8e5e1f412fffcbb4c%7Ciid%3A1
  3. How close do you have to get before the brakes kick in?
  4. Thanks Tom, Thats a great idea. I'll give it a go in the morning and see how I get on. Jon
  5. I have a question regarding the front assist and the braking assist. I think that it is activated but it doesn't seem to do anything. I have been in a queue of traffic and rolling towards the car in front and nothing seems to happen. I would have expected to see a warning of some description and even the brakes intervening but not a squeak - am I expecting too much? Has anyone had experience of the system intervening etc. Thanks in advance Jon
  6. Happy Christmas!
  7. Afternoon. It's my 2 month anniversary of my 70 plate (August build) 1.5 DSG so I thought I would share my likes and dislikes. For context - my previous motor was an Audi A3 2.0d s-line and this is my first Skoda. On the whole, I am really pleased with the car - the space and the comfort. I love the higher seating position and the visibility is great. I was worried that moving from the Audi that pulled like a train to a 1.5 in a larger car it would 'underperform' however I have zero issues with the drive train. Its quiet and can shift when it needs to. Ok, I'm lucky to get 40mpg out of it at present, but I'm not really travelling any distance yet. Just pottering around town and the odd trip into the countryside. In the first 2 months, I've only added 800 miles or so and it only has a total mileage of around 900 miles so it is just getting going. Friends of the family have an Ateca and I have to say, I prefer the ride quality of the Karoq. Less harsh. I do have a few things that haven't gone as well - I don't think that they will come as a surprise to anyone... * The manual - soft, strong and very absorbent. * Infotainment - I have the Columbus unit without any device in the glovebox so the manual refers to use SD card and insert into unit - errr nope. Even the latest manual is the same. So how do I update the maps etc.? Using CarPlay. * Infotainment - missing features compared to the manual and incorrect instructions in the manual - DriveGreen page? doesn't exist. Auto dipping passenger mirror when reversing - instructions are wrong in the manual but I have managed to sort that out. * Sat Nav - Address translating to lat/long - nah. Using CarPlay. * Don't laugh, but the bonnet using a 'pole' support rather than gas struts winds me up! * I have condensation in the front lights - ever since I washed the car and being LED they aren't clearing. Manual says to be expected but they don't look good. * The chrome surrounds of the air vents that then reflect in the mirrors get me every time - I think that the mirrors have cracked until I look again and its just the chrome reflection. * Obviously its cost related, but I wish they had retained 4 hooks in the boot, along with the torch. The washer filler funnel I thought was really neat until I discovered Skoda replaced it with a cheap cap (Thanks to eBay I have rectified that) - Warning triangle, first aid kit and vest - standard in the 2013 Audi but not in a 2020 Skoda - it wouldn't cost them too much to include them but choose not to. It looks and sounds like a long whinge list but they are all minor annoyances rather than show stoppers. Honestly, I was worried about buying a Skoda but I can honestly say I don't regret it for one minute. Jon
  8. Hi Regarding stop/start - I'm not sure it is temp dependant - it might be when the engine is cold and 'harder' to start but I also think / believe it is more to do with what you have drawing power at the time - ie Air conditioning / Heated seats / Heated Windscreen / Heated back window etc. SS only kicks in when it knows that it can start the engine again which is why sat stationary and the engine stops, after a while it starts up again. I discovered this on my old Audi and I imagine that our Karoqs are the same. Regarding the external mirrors - switching the knob around to defrost leaves it on and it doesn't turn off at all. You need to remember to switch it off once defrosted which is a pain. A bit like the heated seats - turn them on and they stay at the level you switched them on to - eventually you fry - in my old Audi and my Wife's merc they drop down after a period of time which is much nicer. One of my pet peeves Jon
  9. Thanks for the answers gents - just tried it and as you say it converts it to co-ordinates. A bit of a pain, will have to edit and save accordingly.
  10. Surprised that my Sep 20 Edition doesn't have one nor the washer fluid filler car (Bought one off eBay)
  11. Hi folks First real post here so apologies if these questions have been asked before. I have just taken delivery on my 70 plate 1.5 DSG Edition. First time with Skoda having been Audi all my life. Have to say I really like the car - having done 400 miles in the first week I'm really pleased with it. I'm not sure if others have had the issue but driving home, down the M4 last weekend, the Sat Nav kept "calculating the route" and the cockpit sat nav ended up saying "No positional data" - I'm getting my dealer to take a look at that next week. However, I am also quite frustrated that the infotainment often doesn't bear any relevance to the manual. I'm hoping that one of you helpful people are able to shed some light on : * How do I get AM radio? * How do I see the DriveGreen vehicle display? * I know its a common bug bear but Sat Nav postcode entry is not good - I'm hoping that when the garage sort out the problems that it will be better. Any advice would be gratefully received. Looking at System Information I have Hardware: H22 Software: 0270 Navigation: 20.9 Also, disappointed that the little things, such as the filler funnel and the torch in the boot have been removed. Oh well Other than that a great car Thanks and I look forward to many great days in the car. Jon
  12. I'm Jon, live in Weston-super-Mare, long time Audi driver but I have just taken delivery of my first Skoda. Tell me I've done the right thing...
