  1. I have 2 x Audi TT’s both petrol both needed 1l of oil every 1000-1200 miles. My diesal VRs was needed 1l every 1000-1500 miles. Also had a Golf GTI for a while needed 1l every 1000-1200 miles. My brother has also had a few Audi TT’s all needed 1l every 1000-1200 miles. He also had an R8 which needed 1l every 1000 miles.
  2. That is about right for every V.A.G car I have ever owned around about 1l for every 1000 miles.
  3. Hi yes I watched again. Do I use this code that is on the video or is there a different code for every car?
  4. Will the code to enter be the the same for me as in the video?
  5. I had the water bottle replaced in my 2015 diesel VRS when the belt and pump was done. Have recently upgraded to a 2018 petrol 245. I can’t see a silica bag in the water bottle. Did this not apply to that model or possibly previous owner removed?
  6. @pab567 Sorry to bother again thanks for help with update. After scanning with Obd11 I have this fault code. Skoda Octavia trouble code B201A00 I believe this is related to the software update. Can you help in simple layman’s terms explain how I resolve the trouble code? Or can anyone else? As simple instructions as possible total dunce here.
  7. Thanks very much for that the history I have for it shows 2 x oil and inspection service. Based on the graph above looks like I need a brake fluid change as well. Don’t suppose you know if the front diff needs to be serviced?
  8. Hi, Would anyone have a copy of the service schedule for a 2018 Octavia MKIII VRS 245bhp. Recently purchased the car and would to make sure that everything is up to date.
  9. Hi @pab567 Can you help with updates for my system?
  10. Both of these sites seem very similar one skodaparts.com seems to be based in the U.K but if you visit the home page rather than other pages it says the site is down for maintenance, there is no option to add anything to a basket to purchase. skoda-parts.com seems to be working fine but bit wary of ordering anything in case of customs charges. Anyone used either?
  11. I picked up the car yesterday afternoon. I was driving up to pick up the new car and drop of my old one and I felt a slight bit of buyers remorse. The diesel was such a great car, that only lasted about 2 minutes though. As soon as I started heading home in the new car and found an open road I had a huge smile on my face. Very happy with the change back to a petrol car. All the little things that have been "changed/upgraded" from going from a 2015 diesel to a 2018 petrol are nice improvements. The driving experience is very different and is of course the biggest change, Took the "scenic" route home and took so much time my missus phoned to find out where I was. 🤣 The new car is an absolutely mint condition for a used car. I looked at quite a few other cars before making my mind up on going for this one. A petrol VRS is quite rare in Northern Ireland, there was any amount of diesel versions for sale but in the whole of N.I there was only 2 MKIII petrol cars for sale. The other one was a 230 in rally green but I probably couldn't have lived with the colour of that one, although I did take it for a test drive etc. it only had 12k miles on it, but wasn't in as good a condition as this one. Just small things really it had a few tiny car park dings, the wheels needed a refurb, it also looked very used inside. The dealer I got this one from said the previous owner was very fussy and it really shows, it really is just like a brand new car. Before deciding to stick with Skoda, I looked at E class and C class Mercedes, 3 & 4 series B.M.W's, Golf R's and a few Audi A5's and A6's but I just preferred the Skoda. The Golf R was great to drive but just didn't have the same practicality as the Skoda. Also took a Focus ST3 and a Audi S3 for a drive as well but they were both too much like boy racer cars for me and at my age I just thought I would look silly driving either. I wanted a car that had decent performance but also needed some practicality I use the car for work as well and have a lot of camera equipment to carry around and this one ticks all the boxes for me, although I did seriously contemplate a BMW 330i which was also good in terms of performance/practicality but I have never had much luck with pervious B.M.W cars I have owned and maybe I am weird but I also preferred how the Skoda looks, especially the interior, seats etc. even though the B.M.W was full leather. I would have loved an M3 and found an absolute cracker with red leather etc. but it was well over my budget and while I could have stretched once I had taken this car for a test drive my mind was made up. The colour of the new car is proving to be a bit polarising with some people not liking it at all, I really like it though. I let my brother take it for a quick spin yesterday evening and even he was impressed which is a bit of a feat as he is used to driving much higher spec cars and changes his cars like other people change their socks, he currently has a BMW I8 and a Lamborghini Gallardo.
  12. Does anyone know which version of the infotainment system will be in a 2018 245 VRS?
  13. That seems pretty good. My diesel VRS on longer journeys could do just over 65mpg I was expecting around 30 odd with the petrol. I guess we will see should be picking it up tomorrow evening, can't wait, like a kid at Christmas!
  14. Yes, I had noticed those extra's I had assumed that all the newer cars had them, happy days! The sports dials with the boost gauge etc. are pretty cool. I will keep an eye on the coolant as you suggested, thanks.
  15. For the last year or so I have had a 2015 diesel VRS, really liked the car but this was the first diesel I have owned and while I liked the lower running costs I hated the diesel taxi noise. So anyway yesterday I found this for sale and have decided to trade in my car and go for this instead. It's a 2018 245bhp. As well as getting me into a petrol which I prefer, the radio/entertainment system is a lot better than the basic one that was in my old car, small thing I know but I really liked the larger screen. It also has 19's were as my old car had 18's. I also like the new seats as well. My old car was also black and I much prefer the Meteor Grey. The car is already bought and will hopefully pick it up tomorrow evening. Is there anything I should look out for in the petrol version that wouldn't have been a common issue with the diesel?
  16. Only just seen this thread. I had my timing belt done yesterday by a local VAG specialist as well as doing the usual they suggested changing the water bottle because of the bag, so it's obviously a known thing.
  17. I had my timing belt done yesterday on my 2015 diesel 2015 Octavia VRS, the car only has 45k miles but as the car is 6 years old now and for my car the recommended change is 100k or 5 years whichever comes first, for a bit of piece of mind I decided to get it done. They did: Timing Belt Water Pump Alternator Belt Coolant flush New water bottle Total cost was £320 inc vat, work was done by a local independent VAG specialist, they advised changing the water bottle to a new version as well due to it having a silicone bag. They were also able to add all of the details of the work done to the Skoda electronic service record.
  18. The dealers use Quantum oil it is one of the cheapest options available at £30 for 5 litres and that's even buying retail, trade price is lower.
  19. I have my Diesel VRS booked in for a belt and water pump replacement in a couple of weeks with a local VAG independent specialist. As standard for my car they replace the belt, pump and alternator belt. Cost £300. Surprised at the high prices mentioned here, Skoda do this as a fixed repair for £600, was only £550 before the New Year. Someone mentioned above that the 5 year thing is only mentioned for the U.K market. That is the case with certain cars but for mine it is 5 years world wide.
  20. I have a 2015 diesal Octavia VRS, I haven't had the car for long. I always like to have a spare bottle of coolant handy so I bought a bottle of G13 coolant which is supposed to be the right one for the car but when it arrived it is purple. The coolant in my car is red, all of the G13 coolant I can find online is purple. I booked the car in today to get the timing belt and water pump done with a local independent and asked him the coolant. He said that my car does use the pink/red coolant but I can't find pink/red G13 coolant for sale anywhere. Can anyone here confirm what I need to buy.
  21. I have always used carbon cabin filters in my cars as after a while standard ones start to smell like damp.
  22. Hi, About a month or so ago I bought a 2015 Octavia VRS Diesel. The day before yesterday I used the car to nip to the shop and when I went to start the car to go home when I depressed the clutch pedal there was resistance and a metal thud noise, it almost sounded like the noise you get when you open a tin of Roses/Quality street. I took my foot of the clutch a couple of times and pressed it a few times and it released and the car started. I took the scenic way home and the problem didn't happen again. I used the car later on that evening with no issues. Yesterday again I took the car for a short journey and again had the same problem when trying to start the car to go home. Later in the evening I took the car for another run to see if I could get the problem to happen again but there was no issues. It could be just coincidence but both times it has happened was after 2 very short journeys. I had an oil change done the day before the problem happened but again I assume that is just coincidence. There are no noises or any issues from the clutch when driving. Was just hoping for some advice, due to covid I am not working at the moment and don't have the cash to book it in to get looked at plus I can't get the car to replicate the problem.
