  1. So my car came with a phone holder thing that goes in the centre console but it was too small for my phone. So after a search on eBay and found this one which arrived and fits my phone fine but doesn’t for the console although the seller insists that it should. Is there another version of this one?
  2. £80 is what my cousin paid for his 2016 TSI VRS water pump at our local dealers when he bought one a few months ago, I was with him when when he bought it. It was slightly cheaper at TPS but tour local one won't sell to the public here and they didn't have any in stock according to the indy he used and he didn't want to wait until they did.
  3. Let’s hope not that is for an 05 2.0
  4. The water pump costs £80 at the dealers. Not £340 even a full kit with timing belt etc is no where near that sort of price.
  5. Might also be worthwhile checking if coolant is leaking from the thermostat which is supposed to be a well known fault with mk3 petrol Vrs. Water pump might well be fine and not need changed at all. If your are only experiencing coolant loss.
  6. Petrol doesn’t have a timing belt, does it? My 2018 245 has a chain. Even if there is a belt that is very expensive it’s a fixed prices repair at Skoda dealer for belt and pump costs £650. Would expect an Indy to be much cheaper than the dealer. Like I said I had timing belt, water pump, header tank all done on my diesal 2015 Vrs for £280. As they are VW specialist they even updated the electronic service record to show the work done.
  7. Have never seen any that suit a mk3 Octavia that don’t go in the window channel. Do they exist?
  8. £600 quid seems very expensive for an indy. I had the timing belt, water pump and the header tank replaced on my old 2015 VRS for £280. Was done same day as well.

  10. Tried quite a few Chemical Guys products they where okay but have switched to EZ car care products now. There stuff just seems to last longer plus they always have offers on when buying in bulk. They also do one of the best car drying towels I have ever used.
  11. OBDEleven can do a lot of things and is completely idiot proof.
  12. I bought my first VRS just over a year ago it was a 2015 diesel. I upgraded to a 2018 petrol 245bhp just over a month ago. I love the practicality of them and while be no means are they a performance car, they are nippy enough when needed. The diesel has pretty good running costs, but I just missed having a petrol car as that is more what I am used too. My recent car history is Civic type R, Golf GTI, Audi TT, Audi S3, also had a few 3 series B.M.W's and a couple of more family orientated cars like a Nissan Qashqai, I tend to change cars regularly. I really like the VRS, for my purposes it's a really good car, the huge boot is great for all of my camera equipment, I am a wedding photographer and I also just prefer a saloon/hatchback to all of the SUV type cars that seem to be the most popular these days. Performance wise I think they are okay, I like the fact that it's a bit of a sleeper as most probably don't realise the difference between a VRS and a standard Octavia. I also just like how the car looks style wise, I like the interior as well. Not that it matters at all but it has surprised me how many people have commented on it especially my new to me 245. Even just yesterday I had a wedding and the brides Dad wanted a look around the car and spent a lot of the day hunting online trying to find one for himself. My wee brother likes the car as well and he is used to much quicker cars, in the last year he has had an Audi R8, a BMW i8 and a few weeks ago he got a Lamborghini Gallardo Spider. Have had more people talk to me about the 245 than I have had for any car I have ever owned. The day my wee brother got the Lambo he brought it around to let me have a look at it and one of the neighbours stopped to have a chat with my missus. She asked him what he thought of the Lambo and he said with a totally straight face he would rather have our Skoda. 🤣 I looked at a lot of other types of cars before jumping back into another VRS, but I just couldn't find anything I that suited my needs so well even though I had the budget to drop another 10k or so I couldn't find anything else that I liked as much and that ticked all the boxes for me.
  13. Could be anyone of a number of things but very dangerous. I once had a Honda Prelude that did this turns out it was a common problem caused by previous owners having loads of keys on their keyring. Eventually the weight of the keys caused this fault and a mechanism on the lock had to be replaced.
  14. My understanding is the gauze filter does not need to be changed but it does need to be checked and cleaned.
  15. Is there a paint code for the calipers on a VRS? Have a mark on mine and would like to touch it up.
  16. Anyone have one of these? https://ramair-filters.co.uk/jsk-121-rd-ramair-air-filter-heat-shield-intake-kit-red-intake-hose-vw-mk7-golf-gti-r-audi-a3-s3-8v-seat-leon-cupra-280-skoda-octavia-rs/ How did you find it?
  17. Just had mine done and got the car back from my local Skoda dealer. When I booked it in they quoted me £100 for the front diff service and £65 for a brake fluid change which I was also due, I was going to have the brake fluid done by my local Indy but decided just to let them rattle on with both. When I went to pick the car up it was a little cheaper than expected for both as was done under same job so less labour. They showed me a video of the filter being checked and it was fine and didn't need cleaned. I had queried this with them as apparently some dealers don't check it so all good.
  18. If you go to to a dealer for servicing they use Quantum oil all V.A.G group dealers use Quantum. Although they always put a sticker saying Castrol recommended, I dare say Castrol pay them for this. 5l of Quantum 5w30 is usually around £20-£30 at the dealers depending on if they have it on offer or not, it always seems to be on some sort of promo.
  19. There is no such thing as depreciation at the moment the value of all used cars has went through the roof due to all of the issues with availability of new cars, huge demand because people have extra cash reserves after not spending, no holidays etc because of the pandemic. Add to that a lot of people wanting to change cars but not wanting hybrid or electric vehicles as well. Like I mentioned above this time last year I paid £9750 for a 2015 Diesal Vrs with 35k miles. When I traded it in I got £12,250 and it now has 48k miles, the alloys need refurbed thanks to the wife using it for a few weeks and has a dent in one of the rear quarter panels. It is now up for sale for £14,595. Your car is likely worth more than you paid for it as well. My neighbour has a Volkswagen something or other he took it in for a trade in valuation last week they offered him £200 less than he paid for it 5 years ago. Used car values have gone through the roof. Even more so here in N.I. Here a lot of cars are sold to people who are taking them to be registered in the republic. If it’s an English plate they have to pay 26% tax or something ridiculous, there is a lot of English reg cars here. If it’s a N.I plate they don’t have to pay tax, because of Brexit. That has also pushed up the value of used cars here that have an N.I reg.
  20. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Used car prices are completely nuts at the moment. I paid 20k for a 2018 VRS 245 in Meteor Grey with 18k miles a month ago, but I was trying to find one for about 3 months or so. Petrol VRS is quite rare here. In 3 months there was only this one and a 230 in green that came up for sale. Typically there is 2 for sale right now but 1 is a 230 and it’s black, I hate black cars. My old car was black and I hated the colour having had a black car before but sucked it up as I wanted a VRS and that one was the best deal at the time. The other one is a 2018 245 like mine but it has 25k miles and it’s red and is sitting at £23,595 at the local dealers. I much prefer the one I got. I really like the Meteor Grey. I did get a much better deal trading in my 2015 diesel VRS than I thought I would because of the way used cars have went up in price. Got a fair bit more than I paid for it only a year ago. I knew at the time I was probably paying over the odds but I don’t even care it was exactly the car I wanted and the extra money I got for my old car helped take the sting out of it a bit. My old 2015 diesal VRS with 48k miles is currently up for sale at the place I traded in to for £14,595. I paid £9750 for it pretty much exactly a year ago.
  21. For the sake of £100 I would keep your service history up to date and get it done. May help with getting rid if the old car, and you may be waiting a lot longer than you expect for the new one.
  22. A cording to Skoda customer services when I contacted them it should be done every 3 years regardless of mileage.
  23. Dealer recommends Castrol Edge 5w30ll although they use Quantum 5w30 themselves for servicing. Have used both. Quantum is usually available for about £20 for 5l enough for a full change. Castrol is often available on Amazon for £20 for 4l.
  24. I have mine booked at the dealers on Wed they said they would check and clean filter that is standard they also send a video after showing work has been done. Costing £100.
  25. According to my cousin who has worked for V.A.G for 30 plus years it is normal.
