  1. Thanks. It's life. Live, learn, move on. 👍 Just wanted to say what happened , so if anyone else had a head banging experience with customer service they'd know they weren't alone. Next car should be safe motoring, it's a Volvo. 🙂
  2. When Skoda gives you a lemon. I bought an 11 month old Superb from my local main dealer, almost 18 months ago. I really liked the car. High spec, very economical and super comfortable. Over the next 12 months I suffered three random leaks (the first I noticed before the first month was up), that caused the carpet (and the insulation beneath) in the drivers footwell to become sodden. The first two times the dealer said they ‘thought’ they’d stopped it leaking. Although it did eventually dry out, after the 3rd leak I gave it to them to keep until they were sure it was fixed. After a month of testing to find the source of the problem the garage admitted defeat. They told me I needed to talk with Skoda customer service. What a truly frustrating and unpleasant experience. I’m over 50 and I’ve never been treated as badly by customer service, anywhere. Skoda’s attitude was ‘The garage cannot find a leak, therefore there is no problem”. As the garage replaced the insulation, due to the water damage causing it to rot and grow mould, I would beg to differ. There is definitely a problem. After repeatedly dodging the issue, Skoda placed me in a position where I had to turn to my consumer rights. I submitted a formal rejection of the car to the dealership and after giving them even more chances to put me in a similar vehicle or repair mine, I had no real choice but to sell the car back to the dealership. I know I probably got the one in a million 🍋, but Skoda’s lack of customer service really hit hard. I was nothing but patient and generous with my time. They in turn refused to see sense, pushing me back to the dealer that sold me the car. They gave me nothing but the bare minimum required under the law. I bought another car. It isn’t a Skoda or from the Volkswagon Audi Group and I doubt I will ever consider buying from them again after the way their customer service behaved. I wish you all happy motoring.
  3. Just experienced an alert for an inspection on my Superb. Looking through the posts, I’m in the minority of owners as I have the Virtual Cockpit. So, for those in a similar situation who want to reach the menu to reset the service and inspection alerts, here’s the way I did it. This is a video from a Seat Virtual Cockpit and the method works on the Superb too. 🙂
  4. Probably 🤥 If anyone knows an honest dealer that is dedicated to 100% customer satisfaction, regardless of profit, please share…..this is the Unicorn we’ve been searching for. 😉 I am realistic enough to know that I need to find these things before the warranty expires or it’s definitely all down to my pocket.
  5. Sounds like it. Just been out to the car a moment ago and turn it on to find my VC Nav Map has returned. It feels like doing a quick off/on doesn’t help to change the status of the Nav Map display, but leaving the ignition turned off for a decent amount of minutes (I didn’t use the car for 90 minutes) might help by letting the cpu start afresh and kick the map back into life. I love computers, when they work.
  6. Lost the VC Nav map again this morning. Tried holding the Columbus power switch for 10 seconds….it beeped and just restarted. No settings were lost and VC Nav map remains lost. Called my main dealer about software updates. Apparently there is one for a multi purpose camera ( I assume that’s the cluster of sensors in the windscreen) but nothing that mentions or hints at my issue. Worth a try, thanks. I live in hope 🙂
  7. Thank you. I shall have a chat with my dealer.
  8. I have owned my mk3 since last September, when it was 1 year old. The dealer owned from new and said they’d never noted a problem with the map display in the virtual cockpit. I’ve ‘lost’ the map display in the VC at least 3 times, apparently randomly, since I took ownership. I can’t work out why it happens or what brings it back. Today I lost it again, but I came back after a couple of hours. What I did notice was that the Fuel Economy data completely reset. All display options, Long Term, Since Refuelling and Since Start, all showed the mileage and economy for today only. I originally thought that it was the map display that was having an issue displaying the map layer (as the navigation guidance worked as normal) but now I’m wondering if something else is going on too. Skoda have a small issue with their navigation display in the virtual cockpit, but I’ll overlook it if they update their software so that my Android Auto navigation is allowed to display in it’s place.
  9. I’ve always been pretty good at adapting to new cars, but for some reason this Superb had a couple of things that didn’t jump out me and the manual is so big, I couldn’t see me reading it from cover to cover. My lightbulb moment was a month or two after I had picked it up and I noticed on a video somebody locking their door by touching the back of the door handle. My old car's keyless system used to lock as I walked away and I wondered why Skoda didn’t do that...it was watching that video I realised I should read the owners manual a bit more
  10. Thanks for that John, you may have something there. It makes sense. Cheers, Kev
  11. Well the dealer didn’t shed any light on the matter. Might be time to just take things direct to the man. 🤨
  12. This just started happening to me. Car was new in Sep ‘19, new to me in Aug ‘20. It’s going back to the dealer this week for another unrelated issue, so I’ll get them to check into it too.
