How to test the FCM J279/T6v pin connector. Pls
Hello everyone. 2004 Fabia 1.2 AZQ engine. Problem: Both fans are not working, after regassing with refrigerant, and car is overheating. Found: 40amp strip fuse was burned and replaced with a new one. Also replaced the brushes on the big fan (engine). Done: Bought a new radiator thermo switch, as the old one looked bad. Tested: F18 - 3pin connector with switch on 1-2 and 2-3 L and H speeds works and heard the click on small relay. I went to the FCM big connector T4, all four get battery voltage. So fuses are fine. Opened, cleaned and sanded connector on relays. Both looks fine, even tested wide open and they are fine, resistors not broken. BIG? On the small T6v/6 pins where the K1 K2 Mot 1 and 2 ans 86a,b, I want to know how to find out the proper testing. After rebuilding the engine from head gasket, timing chain and used it for 2 months, now this. I had read all treads, very useful and checked. Thanks in advance. This forum is awesome for DYI @Wino

Update on my project. Engine rebuild
I will try to use another battery fully charged, and check for 12 volts in the relay socket. Chazz is a local expression word for failure. Sorry guys. Now, i know it could be used for Charles. I did the resistance ohms on the relay out on pins 85 and 86 and did not mark any. Will see if the gas pump runs. I'll keep you posted. Thanks

Update on my project. Engine rebuild
Hi everyone. Fabia mk1, 3 cylinder 1.2 AZQ engine. 1. From the beginning, the fuel pump was not working. Got a new one. After properly installing, i heard the gas going to injectors. 2. Engine was out of timing, so decided to get new chain kit, timing tools for crank and camshafts. Have to wait three weeks for delivery here in Panama. 3. As the engine was completely down, changed all 6 exhaust valve bended, sended to a specialist which changed valve guides, etc. Even changed the head gasket. 4. Cleaned every single part while engine was in pieces. Bought new sensors, maf, crank, etc. Even cleaned the injectors and tested after and they were spraying like crazy. 5. After putting everything back together, with specific repair manual torque, new screws and making sure, no fluid leaks, connections, battery power 11.89 volts. Everything. Found that the fuel is not reaching to the injectors. Not hearing the pump activating at all. 6. Fuse 61, fuel is fine. Tested with a test light and current passes. When to see if fuel relay #429, position 4, under the steering not sending the proper voltage to the fuel pump connector. And, according to research electromecanics, this may be a problem. So, with my multimeter tested pin 1 and 4 with the ignition switch opened, and just read 4.11 volts. And to make sure, the relay is working well, i did a resistance test on pins 85 and 86 and chazz. I get no reading at all, which should be between 0.5 to 100 range. For my fortune, in the country where I live, the relay is not available. This is my luck since i bought this car in November 2020. I am not giving up, even if i had many frustrating moments with the F word. Better laught at myself. So, we all these above @sepulchrave@Wino what are the chances that i got a bad relay?

Skoda Fabia 1.2 AZQ Timing Help
@wino thanks for your inputs. I will definitely keep that important in mind. @sepulchrave I had six intake valve bent, so I have to rebuild the engine. I am also getting a new chain kit as per your recommendation.

Skoda Fabia 1.2 AZQ Timing Help
Two more questions guys. 1. Any recommendation to get a new chain kit? 2. When cylinder 1 is at TDC after using all locking too from crank and cam shafts, do I have to turn the engine and make sure cylinder 2 and then 3 are at up to get it up at compression stroke? I found this tread

Agreed. I rather wait for the locking tools and do the proper timing.

Skoda Fabia 1.2 AZQ Timing Help
Hello mates, @Wino @sepulchrave I am looking to confirm if I am doing the timing right. After taking down the engine due to intake valve bended and replaced, I started to put back everything, and now I am at that part where getting the timing right. So, this is what I had done so far: Installed camshaft and aligned the intake as well as exhaust horizontally. Cylinder 1 is at TDC Balance shaft gear circular points are aligned. Note that I do not have the timing special tools for crank and cams, so I made myself one for the camshaft to lock it. As per the crankshaft flywheel I have used a hex allen key. Now after turning the engine twice, I noticed that camshafts, cylinder 1 is at TDC and shaft gear points are still aligned, the only thing I notice is that when I put my finger in the crankshaft hole I feel that there is a half a dent. When I inserted the hex allen key does not goes all the way. This is my concern, so I would like to make sure everything is fine before putting the rest of the parts, cover, etc. Your help is greatly appreciated.

SOLVED: Fabia cranks but won't start - sometimes!
@sepulchraveThanks for the advice. I will keep that in mind while checking the pistons. I am taking notes guys, so I do not forget, just in case. The old school. LOL

SOLVED: Fabia cranks but won't start - sometimes!
I know @Winoand cheers to that. Will take a look at the valves for sure and any other things that I may encounter through the process. Cheers again

SOLVED: Fabia cranks but won't start - sometimes!
Well guys. I decided to buy a compression tester and proceed with the test, and there are not good news. Cylinder 1 and 3 are dead. Cylinder 2 gave me a 11.5 pressure reading. So, after reviewing some of your past advices, now I am to take the engine apart and check for valves, guides, pistons and head gaskets. TBH with you, this is the first time in my life that a little car gave me so much trouble, but as I go along figuring out the whys and what, I had learned and keep learning a little bit more about engines and how the work. As the process has been frustrating for me, I guess I need to take it easy and take it one step at a time, as one friend mechanic tells me. So, I decided to grab some beer, relax and plan my next move to solve the problem once and for all. Thanks for your help.

WARNING TO ALL
After looking about how to fix for many different problems with your Skoda or VW and tried to find a reasonable answer and solving problem within forums, google search, videos, etc. I had noticed that most of people who wants to try help you with the direct problem are just guessing and wondering what would be, when someone ask for a straight answer and solutions, please give it. What you have done in the process, expose the problem, identify it and the steps you took to solve it. Also, many started an issue and never have the time to reply back to the people that gives you the best solutions and let them know if the problem was fixed according to their outputs, and not guess. When you are starting to tell people that it may be this, you may need to replace that. Guess what, not many people can afford changing things that does not solve it. Besides with this 2020 cash is very limited for someone who wants to have his or her car running well, without spending thousands at a dealer or dishonest garage or mechanic that does not even know what the hell is going on. Please, make sure you come up with the right solution depending on your experience of the problem, and tell what you did to solve the problem once and for all. Thanks for reading and Happy Holidays to everyone around this world. Be safe and take care of your love ones. EW
