I recently bought a a 2004 Skoda Fabia MKI hatchback. I dont usually buy cars that I cannot start and test drive, but seeing the car in good condition I just went ahead. The car was parked since March 2020 due to Covid so battery went dead. I tried with a new battery to start the car and no luck. It cranks, but no start. I even connected my scanner to see any fault codes and is not communicating with the ECU at all to find out what the problems are. I have two scanners and both are unable to connect. One thing I noticed on the dash, is the inspection message is on.
Here are the things I need to know:
1. What possible causes are that my scanners are not communicating with the OBD2 port and ECU computer? Is there a fuse that I need to check in order to the port or ECU to work with the scanner?
2. Is the inspection warning signal cause not to start the car? and how I can reset it? I had seen videos about resetting, since I am new to Skoda, I need to know.
3. I am about to check the relay for the fuel pump to find out that is sending the amount of fuel, since I did not hear a noise.
4. Also will be checking if the sparks are working.
Any help from you guys will be greatly appreciated.
I see a lot of potential in this car. I am newbie.
Please go directly to what you read about the problems in the car. I had seen a lot of responses and guessing that do not correspond with what an issue is about. Serious people, please.
Thanks
