2010 Superb MK2 bulb replacement.
Hi Guys, I have a problem with my N/S low beam bulb replacement. I took it into my local Halfords who were very enthusiastic about replacing it but after about 45 mins said they couldn't fix it "Sorry. Theres a wiring fault". I'm just wondering if anyone knows of an independant Skoda savvy electro mechanic near Kidderminster who may do call out work. I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis so my days of leaning over a car are over. The last time I had issues with a main beam bulb out I took it to an independant VW shop who charged me £450!! I understand he had to strip the front bumper off to access the bits so perhaps the cost was justified. Given the age and value of the car now there's a limit as to how much it's worth spending on it, perhaps eBay spares or repair and look for a good used Kamiq, or similar? Although the Superb is great for driver legroom the seats are too low for us now so a slightly elevated SUV may be better. Thanks for reading.

Blanking grommets for cable holes for electric struts?
I'm just in the process of replacing my electric struts with gas struts. I've disconnected the wiring which leads to the struts inside the rear panels, the locking mechanism works ok so I'm now going to remove the cabling completely but I'm trying to sources oval blanking grommets to seal the holes. the ebay sizes don't seem to match the holes which are 17mm x 24mm. Does anyone know a good source for said gommets please? If I can't get the grommets I'll try to ad-hoc a couple out of old cycle inner tube and supper glue. My regards

- Trying to find paint code.
Hi, I'm tyring to find the paint code for my metallic grey Superb. According to the paint supplier it should be a four figur number. I've looked on the lable in the boot and in the service manual I had with the car but nothing looks anything like it and I can't interpret the language, to see if anything mentions paint. The V5 document just says Silver. Any ideas please?- My electric tailgate struts ....again.
Thanks tuningmania, I shall proceed as you said.- Low beam bulb out...saga!
Hi chimaera, Thankfully the VOLKS SHOP I'm taking it to on Friday is all kitted out to do diagnostic checks so he's likly to be doing that. I've dealt with the guy in the past, when I had a VW Sharan, and he's very knowledgeable and won't charge for work he doesn't do. Anyway, once this latest problem is sorted I'll be parting company with the car and I'm unlikely to buy another Skoda, I think I'll be going with Kia or Hyundai., possibly Ford. Regards- Low beam bulb out...saga!
I recently had my near side low beam light pack in. I took it to a local jobbing car repairer who swapped the bulb...£45!!. That didn't work and they were at a loss what it could be, I was advised to take it to a Skoda dealership but to expect a bill for around £1000!! as it probably involved accessing the Ballast module, etc.. Anyway today I contacted my local Volks Shop, who also do Skoda's. He also advised me that it could involve removing the front bumper and if it is a module a replacement could cost £250!!. He's quoted me a ball park figure of £450 to do the work, after I'd stopped crying I agreed to take it on Friday. But he did say that a lot of after market bulbs are dodgy so it still might just be the bulb....fingers crossed.- My electric tailgate struts ....again.
Hi, My electric struts have stopped working again. The last time I just gave them a good soaking in WD40 and they worked again, This time they haven't, so I'm throwing in the towel and going to swap to gas struts. I've watched a couple of how-to guides on the net but none of them show how to release the sockets from the balls , mine seem to have a metal wire clip which looks as if it has to be prised out the release them, none of the how-to guides show this type of clip. I'm just wondering if anyone of you learned colleagues may be able to point the way please? My regards.- Brake wind in tool - Left or Right Handed?
Thanks JR, it seems that by luck I got the correct one.- Brake wind in tool - Left or Right Handed?
Forgive my ignorance, or stupidity, for not asking this question here first. I bought a brake wind in tool from eBay, when it arrived it said "Right Handed", which wasn't indicated in the eBay details. So, which handed do I need for the brakes on my Superb 2? Thanks in advance.- Estate Electric Tailgate Struts
I've driven automatics for years, even when people considered me eccentric to do so, but the DSG box is brilliant, best one I've owned....it's a pity about the tailgate and leaky panoramic roof though.- Estate Electric Tailgate Struts
Sorry to extend this problem again. I've read on the forum that the electric struts can be replaced with gas struts. I'm assuming the gas struts don't open the tailgate as the electric struts do, in which case I have no problem now with lifting the gate manually, albeit it is heavy, I don't think my wife could do it. So, what's the advantage of gas struts? Also is it possible that a single electric strut failing this would stop the tailgate lifting? Thanks in advance.- Superb MK2 Estate electric tailgate problem

Thanks Stu, I'll give it a try.- Superb MK2 Estate electric tailgate problem
Is there a schematic online which shows and describes the functioning of the electric tailgate on Superb II estate? Mine started failing intermittantly and now has stopped working. I can hear a whiring noise, beeps and rear indicator lights flashing on when it tries to open. It just seems to clear the bottom catch, then I have to open it manually. It refuses to close by pressing the button on the tailgate bottom edge. Although, that tailgate button was illuminated and now it isn't, so if there was a fault on the button circuit could it be causing the tailgate to want to keep closed. I purchased a .pdf workshop manual online which said it covered "all marques" but it doesnt cover the estate. I'd appreciate any advice please. BTW. This started happening after I had the panoramic roof leaking.....possible water issue? I've cured the roof leak by taping over the joins with gaffer tape, but I'm not sure where the water leak managed to get to.- Blast! I've got a [rain] water leak...
My damp carpet is/was in the nearside rear passenger footwell. Anyway, now I've gaffer taped over the rooflight joints I haven't noticedd any more water. I think I only ever opened the panoramic roof twice since I've had the car so I won't miss it. Once the Pandemic has died down I'll be out sourcing a replacement vehicle. Apart from this damp problem I've had no other major issues in 80K miles and the DSG Auto gearbox is the best one I've had, so I might stick with Skoda but without the panoramic roof.- Front Interior lights stuck on.
In addition to my water ingress problem, now temporarily fixed by Gaffer tapeing the panoramic roof joints. I went out this morning, in the severe frost, and hit a quiet deep pothole, the jolt bought on the front interior lights, which wouldn't go out until I got home and opened and closed the tailgate, also the ideogram on the center panel which lights up and indicates an open door was illuminated but not showing any open doors, that went out too. The question is does anyone know how this system works? On my previous cars there's been a rubber covered plunger switch which is activated on opening or closing a door. I can only assume there's some kind of electronic sensor, sensing when a door is open or closed. Thanks in advance for any forth coming advice.- Blast! I've got a [rain] water leak...
Suffice to say the agent is in a Tier Three location. I live in Tier two Worcestershire. The only other car I've had that had a roof leak was a 1947 Ford 8, but I only paid £19 for it so I couldn't complain. The best car I ever owned was a BMW E30 325i, but that was in 1987 when they made good cars, it did 250K until some jealous sod vandalised it, wrote it off. Annoyingly, apart from the water problem the car runs like a watch, no other issues, but it's still got to go, once I've had my Covid jabs. I think it'll be a spares or repair eBay sale.- Blast! I've got a [rain] water leak...
I have the same issue on my Superb Elegance MK2 estate. So took it ino Skoda yesterday for them to check it out. There opinion, after taking the car interior apart, was blocked or leaking drain tubes from the panoramic roof and the roof frame required removing and resealing, estimated cost £2800!!!, and charged me £260 for the investigation. The car is ready for changing so I'm looking for a Range Rover....no more Skoda's for me. Meanwhile I'll tape over the roof joints with gaffer tape and stick a dehumidifier in it for a couple of weeks. - Trying to find paint code.
