  1. The RPM thing or the problem I'm describing with my Octavia??
  2. So it went back to the guys who did the ECU software updates Fri - and rechecked the spark plugs and timing belt (from them being done by the first mechanic). Today's verdict is that the cam shaft has been slightly damaged when doing the belt....the opposite end to where the belt goes ...as it's only slight damage that is why it's running and not showing any major fault codes. And why the tool fits in where it should at the other end. So apparently you can't get just the rod bit for my car and I'd need a full unit at £1500 plus 5 hours labour. Though he was saying when questioned that He also couldn't make any guarantees and if it doesn't fix it I still have to pay. So I'm just gonna drive it and turn the radio up 🤷
  3. Yeah it doesn't. I use it everyday...I do 8 miles each way to work minimum. I know it needs a good run every now and then. I tend to drive lower gear high revs too....
  4. Yes re the rpm. Well maybe that was a separate issue and he fixed that's with the ECU update?
  5. Not sure....I saw the machine he showed me and it said 1000. I'm taking it back in shortly so they can check any misfires on the machine since they reset it on Friday..... My friends dad says he can try squeeze it in to do a compression test but I'll let the original guys I've paid re check it first while they not charging me.....
  6. Thanks for that. Yes I thought after taking it out yesterday that it happened after it got warm on those two occasions, so I think he's made it better but not fully cured it. I'll see what they are suggesting tomorrow about going forward and costings..or I could wait for the tuning guy to be free. My main concern for getting it was checked was to make sure it wasn't the timing. They've stripped it down and said it's perfect so why it started now I have no idea. We just use this car for holidays with it being an estate and I'm anxious about breaking down if it's anything major. I suppose they can recheck the misfiring numbers as he reset them Friday. And I do have breakdown cover. I was seriously thinking about trading it in yesterday but I dont see why I should after 27000 miles! Plus it then becomes someone else's issue. It hasn't shown any fault codes to date .... There were some background menus that they showed me which showed misfiring and moisture on the cat if that's what you mean....I will get them to recheck the misfires this week. Thanks for your advice.....they gonna hate me tomorrow when I reel off all this stuff!
  7. Thanks ....I don't know what they are but I'll tell them next week!
  8. Hello, I have an update on the misfire for the car & wondered if you guys had heard of such a thing. I got back off holiday & the car was getting noisier. I messaged the tuning guy who said he couldn't fit me in for at least 2weeks. As I was getting concerned it was something to do with the timing &possibly causing damage to the car I went back to the previous garage, who hadn't found any issues on the diagnostics machine. They are a large local firm and are dealer level but I don't want to name them on here. they looked at it yesterday & put it back on the diagnostics machine and found the information the tuning guy had pointed out about the moisture in the cat & all three cylinders misfiring, there was a discussion & they suggested it could possibly just be the spark plugs (as they were changed at the same time as the timing belt). After they checked the spark plugs, even though they are not Skoda ones they confirmed that bosch ones have been used & that they were fully compatible& should cause no issues. They then stripped the car down & said that the timing was perfect and that the previous mechanic had done this correctly. They then started investigating other aspects. They phoned me a couple of hours later & told me that they thought they had fixed it & that it was my software that was really out of date in the ECU (this was really out of date because the car is a 2020 model & i have never heard such a thing as updating it) it's been for regular services I've had no information from Skoda that this is anything that I should ever do?? The garage updated all of the software and apparently messed with other certain settings and was happy that the issue was fixed, They took it for a test drive hooked up to the machine and it has stopped misfiring, therefore he is reset all that information. I picked the car up at a cost of £480, purely for five hours labour. Drove it home & tbh all the way home it didn't do the poppin sound at all so I was really confident that they had actually fixed it and it was something as silly as the ecu which was stopping the car from performing correctly (& coincidentally happening at same time as the belt change) however I stopped to pick up my dog from the dog walker & when I got back in the car it did it again. so I've come home & haven't been out in it since. I need to spend some time over the weekend just seeing whether it is fixed or not. My issue is it's not fixed & i a really don't know what to do from here. it had been in for a service it had an MOT & I did the timing belt (with it being five years old) spark plugs were changed. because of the noise starting, the first mechanic decided it could be a coil pack, so did coil pack 2 and another set of plugs. The noise was right from the beginning from getting it back after the MOT etc. second garage who was my friends dad who didn't have the time to carry out any work but he took one look and said it was the timing. The third garage (which was the dealer level garage) put it on the machine and as it gave no fault codes said was nothing wrong. The tuning guy in fairness to him started at the beginning asking me about my fuel I put in the shell v power & the cleaning products but it got nosier.
  9. Thanks.....I think if it doesn't resolve shortly I'll take it back to the engine tuning guy with those suggestions. Thanka again!
  10. Yeah mine says both E5 and E10.....i got the manual out last week and says at least 95 Ron but pref 98.....
  11. Thanks for all that. The belt was changed as I thought it had to be a certain intervals and my last car was 5 years. Anyway another mechanic said it didn't need to be that frequently anymore, but what's done is done...I won't need to do it again as I'm getting a new one in 4 years. I'll carry on with the V power and take it from there!
  12. I know that now ...but first mechanic didn't say anything when I booked it in...I've always had it drummed in to do at 5 year's....infact it used to be 3. But bit late now as it's done, and not sure that is the cause of the current issue.
  13. Thanks so much for your reply. All my friends are adamant it's must be something to do with the timing but the mechanics are saying not and it's more coincidental. It hasn't been stood and unused but admittedly it only does 8 miles each way to work and back. I'm going on holiday tomorrow but when I get back I will do a few junctions up the motorway....and carry on with the V power for a bit before heading back to the tuning guy. It's had a service every year but I don't know what filters they replace. Again, I know the plugs were done with the coil pack but I didn't see what they were. Allegedly he did them at the service at same time as the cam belt etc but then had to do them again with the coil pack. I'll get the tuning guy to check them when and if I take it back. But I appreciate your advice that it will need a few tank fulls, as I suppose that was what I was asking, before deciding to take it back. My sister is going to have use of it while I'm away so it won't be stood
  14. Hi guys, long winded query but wondering if anybody has had the same issue and if so how it was resolved. I have a Skoda Octavia estate on a 2020 plate. It recently had the timing belt changed and since then I have had some issues, I no longer think it is the timing belt replacement that caused it, as this has been checked by three different garages, I think it is a coincidence that the issue started at the same time. Basically my vehicle isn't giving out any fault codes and this has been confirmed with Skoda level diagnostics, however since this time when I am idling I would describe it as rough idling and every now and again when I am stationery I can hear a loud put put out noise, this is intermittent and has unfortunately not done it when I have taken it to the garage. The original mechanic has washed his hands of me as he has decided there is nothing wrong with it after replacing coil pack 2 & spar plugs, and blames the fact that I have a three cylinder engine, even though it didn't do this noise prior to him doing the timing belt etc. The second garage did all the diagnostics but unfortunately seem to be led by the machine and as it's given no fault code don't know what to do with it. So I therefore took it to an engine tuning specialist who has hooked it up to another machine and although it has shown no faults there are sub menu, that have shown I have a 1000 moisture in my catalytic converter (due a run but also numerous mechanics having it idling recently) and also that there are misfires on all 3 cylinders around the 1500 Mark. He asked me where I put my fuel in and what fuel I use, to which I advised that I fill it up at Sainsbury's on my way to work and use E10. This mechanic has diagnosed that he thinks it is a fuel issue and to be honest I didn't even know that E10 was a newer fuel, its kinda snuck up on me at the petrol station. Having checked my handbook I think although it is compatible with both E5 and E10 it appears that Skoda recommend E5 and a fuel of 98 ron or above and therefore he has added some fuel tank cleaner and some injector cleaner into my fuel tank and since then, after running it a bit, I have refueled it with a full tank of shell v power. It is still doing the noise although I think it is less and I am hoping that after a couple more tanks the issue is resolved but as anyone else had this issue and if so did it rectify after a few tanks of fuel or do I need to be looking at replacing some parts?
  15. I had some trouble verifying my cars too initially... If I'm honest, it is just garbage app.. Its not ready, I just don't understand what skoda are doing. I'm not going to use it. Skoda did say something about sorting apple app out before android? I've bought two books to sort the services. And frankly I'm loathe to buy a future skoda because I just think its poor customer service all round!
  16. Yup it's garbage! They're saying it's kit finished though now!
  17. Just had this back from Skoda.... They haven't answered if my 2015 plate service history will come back. Also they can't provide it me either as I had it done at a third party garage. They are beyong stupid! Been and bought two books. They can f*ck right off, I'm going back old school and I won't be subscribing to owt they offer 🖕 Following on from my previous email dated 11 January. I have received an update from our factory regarding the new MyŠKODA App. They have advised that this application has been released to the public domain. However, is still in the process of full development by the factory at this moment in time which means that not all functionalities are presently available for use. There are different levels of availability dependent on the age of your vehicle, e.g. if you have a 10 plate ŠKODA FABIA then you will have the lowest access as the vehicle is not enabled for smartlink etc. therefore the only information available would be on-line manuals and hints and tips. The newer the vehicle with newer infotainment system i.e. MIB3 the more options will be available – Options like Digital Service History will become available in time, however are still being developed and tested, we do not have a time-scale for this as this is being untaken at factory level and there are many aspects for them to cover to enable this to happen. I hope you find this information useful and thank you for contacting ŠKODA UK.
  18. 😂 I've asked him to confirm that if the service facility is to be ended, how he intends to rectify that I have two skodas with no service books, and one has had 3/4 services that have now disappeared....!
  19. Hi guys. I haven't received a call back from skoda re my complaint call and request the matter was escalated. However, i had emailed too and received this from Skoda today : In relation to the ŠKODA Service History not showing on the new MyŠKODA App. I am current waiting for a response from our ŠKODA Connect Development Team to confirm whether the Service History is removed or they are planning on adding it on at a later date. Once, I receive an update I will be in contact. Thank you for your patience. Kind regards Dean Goodwin Customer Relations Manager
  20. It's ridiculous.... I suggested they put something out there so we know what's going on! I was promised my issue was to be escalated and I'd get a call back, but I haven't heard from anyone yet. I'll keep you posted if I do.
  21. Re my experience today phoning customer services!
  22. Hi Guys, First post here but i have to sound off about my frustration. argh! and also in case anyone else has come across this yet. you may or not know that the old MySkoda app and Connect Skoda merged as of the 10th Dec - i had an e-mail. I used the original MySkoda app as i have 2 skodas and in 2016 when i bought by 2015 plate fabia they made me have an online service schedule. i also have a 20 plate octavia. So both my cars were on this app - the older one with 4 services logged and the new one with the delivery note - i was never given physical service books and had to pay my local garage(not skoda) to register with the skoda online service facility. so after much struggling today i've got both vehicles on the new MySkoda app but cannot locate the historic service schedules. The old app no longer works - but i had the foresight to download the service details beforehand. So, i'm on the phone to Skoda customer services now to ask how i access my historic service schedule's. guess what? just been told they have removed that facility??!!! so they forced me to have an online schedule and now telling me they are no longer supporting it?!!!! i have conveyed my dismay and pointed out it cannot just be me with this issue!!!!! she said i would have to go and see my dealer = why? to get the history - they don't have it! i haven't had it serviced there!!! i said she cannot be telling me to go and get a book and go and get it backdated - why is that my responsibility?!! i asked the matter be escalated as i could not get my head around that they would remove this facility etc. after waiting a while she came back and then said actually they might not have removed it and there could be 3 things happening 1) i need to redownload the app as i may have downloaded it too early - i only downloaded it this morning!!! (11th) and why go live on the 10th if it is not ready to download! 2) that the app has not fully migrated yet - it is handled in the Checzh republic and they don't know much about it here yet. and 3) independent garage services don't show - yes they do!!! there hasn't been a problem for last 4 years and i had to pay for the garage to register to get this facility!!! (and the page myskoda she was referring to wasnt even there). so thought i'd just let you guys know that Skoda customer servicers don't know whats happening!!!! (although she was lovely and sympathetic!) i'm awaiting a call back in 48 hours to clarify and i will redownload the app sunday morning and see if it's changed!
