Haven’t seen this particular issue but I did have problems with the album art when I just copied my iTunes library to the sd card and tried to use it.
I ended up loading the entire sd card in mp3tag and going through all of the files correcting the art to be a maximum of 600x600 (and even then some art still had to be recreated before it would show) and updated all of the tags.
all works fine now in that respect.
I was surprised at just how many errors there were with tags considering I’d never noticed a problem with the iPod and am pretty fussy with making sure the tags are correct in iTunes!
I had to resize all my album art images too to make them smaller. I had issues when I had the Amundsen unit in my previous Octavia where they had to be no more than 200x200, but the Columbus in my current Superb doesn't seem to have this limitation. Fortunately I've got dbpoweramp and it comes with an image resizer that does batch conversion so it wasn't too painful.

I've ripped all my CDs and have put MP3s at 320kbps on an SD card for use in the car. Each album is in a separate folder. All's been fine for the last couple of years and I've added a few CDs every now and then. Recently albums have been appearing twice in the menu and they'll play track 1 of the first one then track 2 of the second, then track 2 of the first and track 2 of the second and so on. They only show up once on the computer. I've even tried formatting the card and recopying the mp3s onto it with no change. I've got about 400 CDs on the card and it's nowhere near full.
Anyone else experienced this or have any solutions?

Hi, I get the same issue with my SD card. All my CDs ripped to FLAC and mp3. FLAC for use on the hifi at home, mp3s on the SD card for use in the car. It's a function of the playback software in the unit, not all players support gapless playback, I find it really annoying when listening to a live album or one where tracks blend into one another. I haven't checked software version but it's a 19 plate Superb SEL Executive.

I suffer with gaps between tracks too, ripped all my CDs to flac and mp3 and put mp3s on SD card. Very annoying.

I find this a right pain too. I just don't bother using it. Surely a single touch reset shouldn't be too difficult to implement.

i've turned off my navigation announcements without affecting the media volumes.
in the Navigation menu, go to settings, and change the volume for announcements right down.
leave "entertainment fading".
I'll give this a try. Thanks!

Anybody know if it's possible to mute the satnav voice announcements? I often would prefer to just have the visual guidance. I can't find anything in the manual. I can set the volume to zero, but this doesn't work as it still reduces the radio / media volume when the voice announcements (albeit silent) are made.

red ...5th most popular car colour choice in the UK....Oh and the monotonous silver is 6th. Talk us through that? 🤣
No 1 colour is grey.... silver's effectively grey.

Hi @themacster. It isn't yours that goes past me most evenings heading East over the M4 PoW bridge, is it?
The velvet red does look fantastic on the Superb.
No, not me. Must be someone else with a good taste in colours!

I've never owned a monochrome car. Black is for hearses. Grey / silver is so boring, looks ok in isolation but on the road in a line of other black / grey / silver it's just monotonous. First Octavia I had was rio red, then an Arctic green, then a denim blue. Now got a superb in Velvet Red. Yes, expensive, but worth it in my opinion, absolutely gorgeous colour.

Good morning, `driventodevon` (my hometown is Plymouth)
Thank you for your reply.
Being as you seem to suggest that the problem has something to do with gears, perhaps I should have said that mine will be a DSG.
I'm going to believe that the DSG will be okay.
Thanks again.
Have a lovely summer.
I'm afraid you get the kangarooing to an extent with the dsg, most notably after start up. The 1.5 engine doesn't feel as eager as the 1.4 imo.

I really don't get this "second or two delay", unless you have autobrake enabled. On my car (TSI220 DSG) with stop-start enabled (autobrake disabled) the engine restarts when you take your foot off the brake, by the time you get it onto the accelerator it's already running. Is anyone else's car different?
[autobrake on means a delay, engine doesn't restart until you press the accelerator -- but this is turned off by default and I never use it]
E.g. at a junction or roundabout (with poor sight lines) I'm approaching it slowly and the engine cuts out while I'm still moving because I'm not under throttle, no autohold as I'm not stationary; I see there is a gap I can slot into but, as the engine has stopped, there is no immediate response and the approaching vehicle is now much closer and I've already committed myself. Maybe exaggerating by saying 1 to 2 secs.
Mine is the newer 1.5tsi 7 speed dsg, I had the 1.4 tsi dsg Octavia before and the Superb is much smoother in the way the start stop operates.
-
Stop start is irritating and not a little dangerous if you see a gap and want to nip out only to find a second or two delay as the engine restarts. I find only a little movement of the steering wheel will restart the engine, often do that to get it running as traffic lights change to amber.
-
Mine's been doing the same thing. I just push the button on the driver's seat my profile us assigned to to get it back, but really shouldn't have to do this.

Mind saying how long you waited for delivery from order date?
Many thanks.
Ordered 14th December. I got notification of the registration number on 8th March so it must have arrived in the UK early March at the latest. I was rather frustrated that it took over a further 5 weeks to get through the process of getting to the dealer then to me.

Yay! Just arrived today, my 1.5tsi SEL Executive Estate DSG, in Velvet Red with a few extras - Canton, virtual dash, heated windscreen, heated steering wheel, rear view camera, variable boot floor, temp spare wheel.
Ordered it with Pegasus alloys but it's been supplied with the standard Zenith so I'll see what can be done about that. Also ordered front and rear mudflaps and they're missing.
Love the colour!

Maybe a silly question, but is it actually working, I.e. do the wires actually energise?
-
I was hoping this would have come out with the 1.5 tsi 150 and 2.0 tsi 272, after all it's available in the Octavia. Just ordering a 1.5 tsi 150 dsg superb myself but really would have preferred a 190 and can't wait til middle of 2019.
-
I presume that's the 1.4 or 1.5 tsi? I did 61.3 from Gloucester to Derby recently, and 63.1 from Minehead to Gloucester a while back in my Octy 1.4tsi. Regularly get mid to high 50s on long trips so long as I'm not in a hurry. Changing car soon and the 1.5 Superb is on the (very) shortlist.

I find it a pain in the arse much of the time, especially when pulling away with it in stop. Press the accelerator, then by the time the engine starts, as you've got the pedal down it tends to lurch forward. If you let the tension off the brake, it'll restart but not engage the clutch to move forward, just as you can prevent the engine stopping by not pushing fully down on the brake. By adjusting the pressure on the brake pedal when at a standstill you can control the stop / start.

@themacster thanks for clearing that up. I had heard about a petrol version of the DPF so I guess this is the impact? I'm not going to splash out on another skoda hatchback with less power than I have now, my current 220bhp version is almost pedestrian by modern standards so to go back as far as 190 seems pointless.
The reality of it is starting to dawn on me. My skoda has been the most reliable car I've ever owned and the only one I haven't wanted to get rid of after 18 months but I'm going to have to change to a different manufacturer. I don't know who yet but it's a shame all the same.
Yes, its the need to comply with WLTP. A GPF (gasoline particulate filter) will be fitted, although I believe these dont suffer the regen issues of DPFs. I'd be interested to know which manufacturer you go with.

Thanks for the information guys. I'm guessing the superb is suffering from the same problems as the other skodas with model changes and engine availability.
@themacster do you mean my only option currently would be a 190 for an order or that the sportline is never returning at all in the 220 trim? If that's the case then sadly I might have exhausted my options with Skoda and I'll be changing manufacturers altogether. I don't want to but I'm not compromising to that degree :(
No more 220s or 280s - they'll be 190 / 272 now. Don't know what versions each will come in but both will probably be available as Sportlines. We've yet to see how the 190 stacks up against the 220 performance-wise, but I can't see it being a direct replacement. My Octy comes up for renewal at the end of the year and I was going for a Superb 220 next as we need something bigger. Really may have to push the boat out for a 272, we shall see!
-
If you want a 220, it'll have to be a stock model as you can't factory order them anymore. New equivalent will be a 190 once they get round to finalising the full spec. Skoda UK aren't taking orders for petrol engined Superbs until 1st October so they've told me.

Columbus showing albums on SD card twice
in Audio, Electronics and Security

Thanks, it did start happening when I added albums. I'm sure I tried reformatting and copying everything again, perhaps I've just got too many albums on there for the Columbus to cope with, but I'll give it another go. They're only on the card once as I can prove when I view the card on the computer.
