I've been advised by a mechanic fixing my water pump which went at 53000 on my Superb 170bhp TDI (GRRR) that I should ditch the car asap for well known DSG issues affecting these vehicles. I have a Feb 14 car (63 plate) and am not sure what to do... Do I take any residual value and trade in or do I blindly go ahead - the only silver lining to the pump was I got the cam belt changed at the same time and a new radiator due to misdiagnosis! Coupled with 4 new tyres my poor superb has been anything like its namesake this month.......
If I do take advice and that is to trade it in, do I avoid VWAG DSG vehicles from now on?
TIA

We have 2 kids in the back, one on a booster and a lab with full luggage that is very content. The boot is tardis like!
-
Apparently so....
-
So, to confirm, it's possible to put doors on the boot pockets that were in there in the pre-FL model and vanished post FL?
How do they hinge?

Do you call

to get a build week?

Ordered on/around 11/10/13 and dealer tells me today
"It keeps changing between 10 days time and week 3 - I think it is to do with the Greenline element and being built in a batch."
" it has not locked into a date yet, but I am checking regularly."
Hmmm....so much for a Xmas delivery....

I ordered a new Elegance Greenline II Yeti around 10-Oct and at that point thought it was going to be the pre-fl model. Do you think it will actually be the new FL Yeti?

SE Plus trim level added to Skoda range
03 May 11.
A new trim level - SE Plus - is being launched today (3 May) across the entire range of Skoda cars. It sits between SE and Elegance, and offers customers savings of up to £1,455.
Each SE Plus model boasts a host of features over and above SE, offering customers exceptional value for money. Among these is Kristal upholstery, which will feature on all models (in Onyx) except for Superb, which will retain Alcantara upholstery.
Savings for customers range from £945 on the Roomster up to a massive £1,455 on the Octavia Estate.
Each SE Plus model has been tailored to maximise its impact against equivalent competitor cars. All models will have huge appeal to retail customers, while Superb, Octavia and Yeti have been tailored to appeal to the fleet sector.
A couple of new engines are also being launched for a number of SE Plus models - see below for full details.
SE Plus cars can be ordered now.
Model-by-model SE Plus pricing and specification
> Roomster SE Plus
> Octavia SE Plus
> Yeti SE Plus
> Fabia SE Plus
> Superb SE Plus
Retailer auto-allocations
From today, all retailers will be auto-allocated two Fabia, two Octavia and one Yeti SE Plus model (Yetis will be distributed as they arrive in the UK). Roomster and Superb SE Plus models will be auto-allocated according to retailers' rankings on target and volume for these models.
Auto-allocated SE Plus cars must be used as showroom cars; only when receiving two of one model can any be used as demonstrators.
Our no-VAT sales campaign has now ended, but SE Plus cars can be combined with our new five-per-cent VAT campaign, also launched today.
Amundsen satellite navigation
Launch stocks of SE Plus models that have Amundsen fitted as standard will use CDs (details about how to get these will be published soon on Desktop). From MY12 the Amundsen system will be supplied with a hard drive, with maps already loaded.
New engines
We are also introducing a couple of new engines for Octavia, Superb and Yeti. These will be available exclusively on SE Plus trims (except Yeti) and should alleviate some of the production pressures on engine availability.
The new 1.8 TSI 152PS engine will be available across all three models (Yeti will be the 1.8 TSI 4x4 152PS) and the new 2.0 TDI CR 110PS engine will be available on Octavia.

I wrote to my dealer after having got the car 3 wks ago and told hi there was no DVD. He said it must be an oversight and posted a brand new sealed one but it says Europe West (V6.1) on the back so I haven't opened it. Am guessing it should say V7
Useless bunch at Winchester Motor Company.
-
I can echo Pixor. I bought mine and they got me out of a jam on a hill where i had no traction - enough to get me home but I was thinking the same things about pulling over etc to put on and take off all the time. I opted to go down the winter tyre route and had these fitted to my alloys and I'll sotre the others until March/April. Much more confident now driving around - think I'll ebay my used once snowsocks.
-
I got some of the Ice Touring's fitted yesterday and felt much more confident coming home, but since then at the top of the hill I live on which never gets grit, we had 8"snow last night and I chickened out today from testing them... Now wish I chose the 4x4 model!!

Had the windows done at Sol-Ace Window Tinting Ltd, Gravel Hll, Bucks, SL9 9QP, 01753 890011. they did my Jaguar XType estate nearly 4 years ago and the windows still looked as good as when they were done when the car was left as part ex at the dealers yesterday. Stef realy knows what hes doing hence letting him loose an a car I that I have had for 4 hours
How much did they charge if you dont mind me asking....

You make a sound valid point Niall.... Am glad I asked. Ordered the autosocks - an easier justification to H.i.D than the Thule or the winter set of wheels/tyres
-
Am contemplating the Thule K-Summit series......apparently they DO fit the 225/40 R18 as I believe the socks wear out pretty quick if they at all touch a treated tarmac surface.
-
No chains will fit? Even the SUK accessorised ones? Any suggestions apart from winter wheels then?
-
Just wondered what the opinion was for the snow chain accessories that skoda sell. Are they any good? Will they cope with the UK weather like we saw last year? I can't afford a set of winter wheels and tyres and I was about to buy some Thule CS 10 snow chains as a precaution before the weather really turns. Last year my Octy Estate DSG wouldn't make it up my hill towards home so it was parked at the bottom for a week and I walked home. Don't fancy that again! The main A roads are gritted but the back ones to home are not touched EVER! Thule tell me that although I ordered chains for the right size wheel 225/40 R18 they are car specific and won't fit on my new Super Superb Estate (?!) and they don't appear in their fit guide.

Grateful for any useful feedback as ever

Thanks guys!

I'm sure this has probably been answered somewhere on this forum but I can't find and the manual is less than helpful. How do I set both side mirrors to dip when I reverse and can I set the angle which they dip to? I thought it was just a case of making sure the mirrors were in the R position and when I go into reverse it would do it automatically?
Secondly is there a way to turn off the parking alarms that chime when the car is first started or at least turn them down?!
Thanks in advance
DSG boxes! are they any good

I don’t know if mines 6 and wet or 7 and dry. How do I know? It did have an oil change though
