  1. I have not looked at this site for weeks but dismayed to find what I suffered in Dec 2021 is still going on. I had a First Edition and there was a number of us on this site that contacted Honest John and other sites to make them aware of these problems. Shocked they are still selling the cars with these known faults. I rejected my car a few months into ownership. My advice, get rid, ita not worth the hassle. I've been a loyal Skoda customer for years and have felt vert let down. Have a look through the huge mph/KPH thread. It's all there for you. Sorry people are still suffering this.
  2. Yes, have got rid of mine. Wasn't tested properly before sale. Great potential but shouldn't be for the customer to test it for them. Really damaged my faith in the brand. Having said that, I went back to a MK3.5 and I can't speak highly enough about it. Probably Japanese though next as I want it to work properly!
  3. My view is that this is really sensible. You really don't need to suffer with that infotainment system! Hope you continue to enjoy the MK3 now it is sorted.
  4. Spot on. I moved to the MK4 and it was gone within 4 months of ownership. In my view, stick to the MK 3. Once I rejected the MK4 I went to a MK3.5 and it is outstanding. No point in going for a Golf either, as you say they suffer the same issues and their infortainment is even more distracting that in the Octavia. Only my view obviously, but I would stick with what you have unless you feel like going for something that is guaranteed to work, like something Japanese.
  5. I hope you are offered something. I asked about compensation when I rejected mine back in April and was told that I had been given a hire car and so they had lived up to their obligations. Having said this, they did refund my service plan that I had taken out, which was good of them. Still, I would have expected something having waited as long as you have. I hope that this is the end of your issues. Do you mind updating us when you have had the car back for a while please? All the very best
  6. Yep, they told me it was all fine. It clearly wasn't. Not ideal buying a car to drive your family around in and it randomly breaks for no good reason! I got rid of it and got a mk 3.5 and it is fabulous. Can't speak more highly of the car. But, the mark IV was so frustrating. There is a good car in there if they bothered to test everything properly first.
  7. This happened to me. It was the last straw after being constantly frustrated with the infotainment system crashing etc and the KPH Issue. I rejected early last year and the car is stick off road in the dealership!
  8. They've know for years. Took mine back and they said they coukd find the issue with mine either. I rejected mine in the end and am happy I did so.
  9. Yes, I really should have read to the end before commenting! What an idiot!! Fabulous to hear about your car! So pleased for you. Let's hope Skoda now get this rolled out to all the others who have stayed so patient.
  10. Should have the full thread before commenting. I really hope for you all that this fix has everything sorted. I will certainly look to come back to the mk iv if they have now cracked all of the problems. Fingers crossed for all of you.
  11. Massive sympathy. Mine did similar. I hope you get it sorted.
  12. It is obvious that they need to refit the sel fe with a new head unit. Why they have not done it can only be because they don't want to spend the money. Its shocking customer relations.
  13. Sorry to hear this. Before I rejected, I was assured I would get a similar car in size. I made sure I made this clear as I have a family. What did I get? I Kamiq! Nothing like the size of a Octavia. Promise made and promise broken! Good luck fighting your corner with this one. I really hope they sort you out. You deserve better for showing faith in them that they would sort the problem.
  14. Probably because we all endured a great deal of misery at the time we had the car and are interested to see if the promises that Skoda made to us were genuine and the 'fix' really was genuine (which it does not appear to be). Over a year down the line and it appears all those reassurances were misplaced and so the customers were being mislead. In the future I may want to buy another Skoda, this is why I visit this group every so often. There is no way, given the time it is taking to solve this, that I would buy another. Call it consumer research, if you will. If I start to hear things are done, that problems are being treated seriously and the infotainment and other issues are being sorted, I will consider a Skoda in future. In future, I, like most will go electric, I want to see from this forum, that Skoda would be a good option, so I visit. I also want to sympathise with those that have bought a clearly defective car. Back in the threads, there has been some helpful advice given to the poor souls who buy these cars and whi don't know what on earth to do with the nail they have been sold.
  15. No problem with the change to two cylinder mode but the car will likely 'kangeroo'. I have had 3 now and a friend has A3 1.5 Manuel and another a Golf 8. All of them do it. A bit annoying but certainly not the end of the world.
  16. It will be, and it will be a blatant lie! After I rejected mine, I went and got a mk3.5 and was speaking to two dealers who claimed they had never heard of any faults. I bought from neither of them as I know for a fact that both had First Editions sitting rejected in the back. For what it is worth, my advice would be to leave off buying a mk iv for another year or so. I liked the car generally but all the faults on a car were unacceptable. My car was registered in July 2020 and up to the point that I rejected in May, nothing had been resolved. Unacceptable. Choice is yours but it seems to me that your playing Russian roulette.
  17. 100% reject. It will have been rejected already. Read the Consumer Rights Act. Tell the dealership the problem. I'll they can't fix, which they won't be able too, write your I tension to reject and do so within 30 days. You should get a full refund
  18. Happened to me at a junction - absolutely no reason for it.
  19. This all must be costing Skoda a fortune. And still the Octavia continues to win awards!!
  20. This ^. I rejected and went for a 2020 mk III. They have been promising the fix for months now. I'm not sure it will fix everything. My view, for what is worth, is to sell and be rid of a daily irritation and frustration.
  21. When I was going through the process of rejecting mine, I pointed out to Skoda that I had a holiday booked and asked if I would be compensated for the loss of that holiday if I couldn't take the car. They didn't like that idea and I was told I was entitled to no compensation. As it was, it was cancelled anyway, but it seems mad that if you want to take it abroad you can't. You have my full sympathy.
  22. No, your contract is with the dealership. The dealership is reimbursed by Skoda UK. Do everything through the dealership.
  23. 'Not heard of any issues with the new Octavia'! That is a blatant and very obvious lie. They should be ashamed of themselves!
  24. Just my opinion, but you could be dodging a bullet here. I have no doubt it will be an excellent car, but it is going to take a long time yet to get to a stage where there are no gremlins. It will be interesting to hear from anyone when they get the long promised fix to the KMP/MPH, to see if they have solved ALL of the issues. When I was getting updates abut the 'fix' that the KPH was only ever really mentioned, nothing much was said about the other problems. I really for everyone hanging on, that they sort it all out, and soon.
