Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
Same with mine. Mine is still at the back of the dealership. Not fixed. It would concern me having to roll the dice buying a car for 20 odd thousand pounds!

Potential new Octavia SEL iV owner but concerned
Fait enough. I thought I wouldn't have to wait long either! I would still be waiting now! The car will be superb WHEN everything is sorted. Good luck if you choose to go ahead. The car offers so much.

Potential new Octavia SEL iV owner but concerned
See the latest on the KPH/MPH thread post 10 hours or so ago. Still MASSIVE problems. My advice would be to leave off buying one for the time being. There are still way to many issues with it. Give a year or so until they have solved ALL of the issues. Just my my view of course but my time owning one was thoroughly miserable and stressful.

It's taken them this long to work out there us something significantly wrong!!!? We coukd have told them this months ago. Perhaps they will test future products properly in future.

Done that, didn't get me anywhere. I rejected soon after. There were just too many faults with the car for me to enjoy it, and throw in the danger of the emergency breaking, it was too much, especially with a family in the car. Got a mk3 facelift, which is superb in every way and everything works.

KPH/MPH
My emergency brake came on at a junction, with nothing in front or to the side of me. I have no idea how nothing hit me from behind. I think that was the moment when I decided enough was enough. Could never trust the car after this. I reported it to the dealership who said there was nothing they could do as the car didn't register it! Madness

Agreed. I am thrilled now that I got rid. I was originally told it would take about a month to fix. That was over two months ago and counting! I hope those that are waiting patiently, get their problems sorted. No one should have to wait this long with a substandard product. Very, very poor from Skoda

Interesting that yours is going in for 'kangerooing'. Mine had that and the dealership refused to accept that it did it because it wasn't being logged on the car computer. When I asked them if they had actually driven it, they hadn't! I now have the mk 3.5 facelift with the manual 1.5 and it has the kangerooing as well (only a little and certainly tolerable). I also have two people that I work with, they have it too. I hope they sort it with you. If they do, please could you ask them what they did, because I am having no luck! Thanks

How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
I rejected mine a few weeks back.

Moon White, SEL FE, matrix headlights. Will have done 9000 odd miles. Avoid it!

I have not seen mine on sale. However, I still have not received the road tax on it. I emailed the manager at my dealership (Bristol Street Derby) who has not bothered t reply to me about it. No idea what has happened to it, but I pity the poor soul who eventually buys it!

I asked for compensation from Stepahnie Kennan and was told pretty point blank that there would be none forthcoming. They have to legally provide a car. They did that at their expense and that was that. They may be more 'generous' with those of you that have hung on though. I keep my fingers crossed for you and will keep following to see if the hunt for a faultless mk iv materialises.

I had that problem and was told that it wasn't recognised on the computer. It seemed to me that because it wasn't logged, they said it didn't exist. It happened once with me and that was the point at which I didn't want the car back. How it didn't cause an accident I will never know but to then be told that the car had not logged the incident, was crazy.

My concern, and the reason I didn't wait for the fix was that Skoda only ever mentioned the KPH/MPH issue. I had a feeling that because this was the legal issue, they were only concerned about this. When I spoke to them about up dates they never mentioned whether there was a fix for all the other glitches with the infotainment system mentioned. I hope they have sorted ALL of the issues to reward for all those that have waited. You all deserve it.

How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
Absolutely spot on. I wasted ages thinking going through Skoda UK was the way to go. They don't help bar getting a hire car I my case. Waste of time.

It is, which is why I will NEVER but a car from Bristol Street Motors Skoda Derby ever again. Woeful. The manager just kept repeating that it wasn't his fault, it was Skoda UK's. Outrageous.

You are entitled to a refund minus usage (calculated at between 25-45p a mile). I had a 6 month old ex demo with 8,000 on the clock. Paid in cash. I got all but the 1000miles at 40p per mile back. Fought with the dealership to give me a full refund but they refused. They are within their rights to deduct under the consumer rights at. BUT, you needed to have written to them listing all the faults in the first 30 days.

2021 Skoda Octavia Review
I do think that you have underplayed the problems with is car. There seems to be an unwritten rule that no one in the media will actually tell the full truth about the considerable issues with this model. VAG seem to hold the sword of Damocles over reviewers (not you especially, at least you do draw some, though not enough, attention to all the issues). The truth of the matter is that it is a car with a great deal of potential, which has been put on sale without being tested properly, that has lots of potential faults that makes the experience of owning, frustrating. Any review should say, 'leave any purchase for another few years until all the issues are properly ironed out. It is a great car potentially, but certainly not at the minute.

Mk4 Octavia Infotainment System
Skoda are looking into absolutely everything I think. They should have looked into all this before they sold the car!

Accept or Reject
Absolutely - reject it. I did. Got a mk III Octavia. Everything works. I get in it to drive and I have complete confidence in it. When I had the mk IV I got in the car waiting for a problem. Couldn't enjoy it. Why should you put up with something that you have spend thousands on. Definitely get rid is my opinion.

Good luck to you in the Superb. Like me, it is great to be out of that mk iv for good. Two things I have learned is that when I buy again I need to get on a site like this before buying to get an idea of the issues and not buy a new model! If I was thinking of buying a mk iv I certainly wouldn't having read this site and I would have saved months of misery. Anyhow, enjoy your motoring. I have also gone back to tried and tested Skoda.

KPH/MPH
It's funny isn't it that I had exactly the opposite!! Funny how it goes. A friend has a 21 plate Audi A3. Plenty of 'kangerooing' in that and I had it in the mk iv but no sign in the mk iii! I suppose it must be luck of the draw I guess!! So strange.
