There is nothing that the dealer will be able to do. They will ask you to take it in and tell you there is a fix on the way! Definately see what they can do but I would also recommend contacting HJ. The more people that do it, the more chance we might get Skoda to act. Not sure about the Travel Mode, didn't even know that existed. I will look but don't recall seeing it.

Fab, it will be interesting to see what they come back with. It had better not be that 'they are working on it'. There is nothing to work on! They know the issue, just replace the unit, pretty simple really!

Do you have the MPH/KPH Issue as well?

As many readers know there are some big issues with the First Edition and Skoda UK seem in no rush to solve our issues. Perhaps the key issue is the fact that our cars are not compliant with with law because of the MPH/KPH Issue. A number if us have pushed our dealers and it seems they can do nothing, it needs a new hardware unit to solve. Skoda know this but seem in no rush to help us. Again, a number off unhappy owners have contacted the Honest John in the hope of putting some pressure on in terms of getting help from a review site. We could do with as many First Edition Owners as possible to contact HJ via email to explain your issues. He appears to be collecting our issues and is in contact to Skoda' head of PR. So please, if you are unhappy with the issues, please send an email to HJ ASAP and help us put pressure on Skoda UK. I know at least two members on this site have got so sick of the car that they have now part exchanged in annoyance. Perhaps they could take the time to email as well to help those of us that are hanging on in the hope Skoda will be stirred into action? Thanks for reading

Please do, there are a number of us pushing on this. I have sent emails to Whatcar, Autoexpress and a number of other places. It is not good enough that they know of the problems, especially the KPH issues (making the car non compliant with the law!). They need to recall and fit the new hardware but they don't seem to care. I have told my dealer that I want a fix soon or I want my money back. Please do send Honeat John a message. The more pressure we can put on as a group the better.

If you are having problems with your Octavia please email HONEST John. There are a number of us that have done so and they are contacting the head of PR with a list of complaints.

Got this back from HJ this morning (see below), soon after sending off my details. Just need one more person to send their details through and it will be sent. Many thanks. I am in the same position. I am going to see what the response is to the HJ questions. Once I have an answer I will go to the dealer and return the car. the problem is that I suspect the dealer my well fight it. Still, I hope that we get the issue resolved asap to avoid all of that.

So, in other words, we cant do anything. Skoda will do it in their own good time! Not your dealer's fault this issue is at the top of the chain. Surely, all they need to do is replace the unit (I know, I know cost is their issue!). I have not set up and account on Skoda Connect because I do not intend to use it and I don't want to pay for it after the first year but am wondering whether I should to check that it works!

I do see this but if the car is in controvention of the Road Vehicles Regulations, should they not be forced to correct the issue. It would seem then that the Motor Ombudsmen would be the best place to seek help then.

Hi Coume, Thanks for the update. Please could you send me the address of the Head of PR and press at Skoda so I can start doing the same? I have now written to a number of Review sites stating the problem and am awaiting contact from my complaint to Skoda UK. I think that all of us with this problem need to 'raise the stakes' so to speak to put united pressure on Skoda to sort out our shared issue. It is unacceptable that they know about this and are seemingly dong nothing about it. They know by now what the issue is, so why no recall to replace the unit?

My speedo is mph but I am unable to change it to kph. My sat nav is kph and I can't change it to imperial. I wonder if the motor ombudsman is the way to go.

I di not know, but if anyone can find out then the natural thing for us all to do is to go straight to Skoda UK and complain. Try to put even more pressure on. I am staggered that they still have not solved this issue. It is so poor.

Yes, it must be. Mine are standard light and definately don't, so I'm told. They certainly do not dip when another car comes the other way!

It doesn't! I thought the same. I asked the dealer and they said that our model doesn't have it. I'm sure in the blurb it said it did!

What, built wrong! He said that it is likely that we will all get letters when they have sorted it. It was funny, because when I took it in, the bloke said he could do it there and then. I told him he couldn't! Was also told that my car does not have full beam assist. I was sure the Skoda blurb said it did!

So, in the dealership now. Been told that Skoda know about the KPH/MPH fault and are working on it, but no solution at the moment. There will be a recall when it is sorted. Guess we all just have to wait to hear from them. Poor we are still waiting so long down the line.

I have mph on my dash but kilometers on the sat nav

Turns out my sat navigation will only work in Kpm. Driving display in mph and distance but not on infotainment. How can people travel in the EU if they can't transfer to kph on main screen? Will ring the dealership on Monday morning. Anyone had any luck with the kph/mph yet? For those that it is okay with, what version do you have. Mine is 1668.
