2062172 Travel Assist sporadically unavailable
This happening to me at the moment. Driving me crazy. My wheel was replaced even before I took delivery of the car, so that would be a serious error on Skoda's part if it needed another. Oh well, it's a lease car and it goes back in April - I can't wait. Toyota Corolla estate next. It's been brilliant in many ways but man, the software tics are just too annoying.

Connect Is It Worth Having?
Sad face (Mine is Nov/Dec)

Connect Is It Worth Having?
Does anyone have remote unlock/lock on their Connect (MySkoda) app? I was told my car was built too early for this, but that would be useful to me.

Anyone actually happy with their MK4? 😂
I don't think in the age of spangly infotainment there's such a thing as 100 percent happy! Is anyone 100 percent happy with their smartphone? Car itself is great. Eg I've got the 1.5 turbo petrol and I'm regularly achieving 50mpg+ on motorway trips with 47.8mpg average over 2,000 miles from new. At least it comes with option of software updates, although I do wonder why given the car can receive over-the-air updates some software updates need to be carried out at a dealer? Anyone know?

Anyone found anything in the Shop?
I've also been offered High Beam Control for £179. Personally I think if they can offer something on a download then they can also give you a trial period to see if you like it. No way I'm going to spend £179 only to find it doesn't work very well. Okay, I guess this is something everyone who ticks an option box risks, but this at least this delivery method gives you a chance to try it out. (unless the software update involves a trip to the dealer of course)

Annoying things about the Mk4!
The infotainment is being improved all the time, so don't be too worried. I don't hate the screen buttons either. The volume control would be annoying if it was only the central bar, but it's also a thumb wheel on the steering wheel. Lane assist is now pretty unobtrustive. The problem with all the tech is assessing it in a test drive. I imagine it would give you brain overload. The car websites and mag barely try in their reviews, in the main. Hard to know how to assess this stuff without living with it, but the good thing is that the software can be updated.

Can the car react to speed limit signs?
well, thanks all, I've found the switch in the menu to turn it on and it now works impressively well, even seems to reduce the ACC speed for bends (is that linked to the sat nav being on?). As someone said, not sure why it can't anticipate upcoming limits rather than slowing after reading the sign given the nav knows what the speed limits are. I ticked the option box box marked Travel Assist in the UK (only £230 or thereabouts)

Heads up display not showing traffic signs
We specced Travel Assist and it includes lane centering, where it nudges the steering wheel to keep you in the middle of the lane rather than just vibrating when you cross a lane line. Works pretty well What I'm trying to find out is if the traffic sign recognition that comes with Travel Assist works with the adaptive cruise control to slow the car automatically as it spots a new speed limit sign. Would be pretty helpful

I do have ACC, but I don't know how to activate the sign reacting function though. Any ideas very gratefully received!

Can the car react to speed limit signs?
Question about the car's ability to read road roads and react to them. I have Active Assist that reads road signs (as well as centering the car in its lane) but can it react to speed limit signs and slow the car automatically? Or even at the press of a button? Feels like it should, and I know some systems can (new Nissan one eg) I know some would shudder at this, but it sounds very relaxing to me (car driving with kids needs to be as relaxing as possible).

1st place for the new Octavia mk4
that's pretty impressive. Especially since the Clio is made in Slovenia (am I right about that?)

Anyone found anything in the Shop?
I can't see this so presumably the shop is tailored for your specific car (I don't have ambient lighting). Can anyone post a screenshot? Maybe we need to crowdsource 50 euros for someone to choose the upgrade so we can see what crazy new colours Skoda has devised!

Anyone found anything in the Shop?
I agree - 50 euros for some new colours is just crazy.

Anyone found anything in the Shop?
Bargain! Which additional colours and are you tempted??

Anyone found anything in the Shop?
I'm wondering if anyone has figured out what Shop is all about? I'll take a wild guess and say we're going to be encouraged to buy stuff there, but what? Also, has anyone found this screen (take from the Skoda website)? they seem to be related.

Grinding into third (manual)
That's good to know, thanks

Annoying things about the Mk4!
Are people connecting the car to their home wifi or are the updates coming through the on-board SIM?

Grinding into third (manual)
No

Grinding into third (manual)
Glad to hear it might loosen up. What version do you have? anyone know gearbox codes? (wondering if a 2.0TDI has the same as a 1.5 petrol)

Grinding into third (manual)
Anyone else experienced this? 1.5 manual, less than 300 miles, but tricky to get into third. You need to jam it in, or it fails to engage. Old school problem. Gears bedding in, or one for the dealer?

Annoying things about the Mk4!
Sorry, here's a visible pic. Seen some are 1668. Ultrarunner you're speeding way ahead on 1788! I haven't set up wifi for updates yet.

Annoying things about the Mk4!
I'm VERY happy to report that, having experienced this on a borrowed Mk4 vRS, that our new Octavia delivered last week has a very well behaved lane assist. I was extremely worried because it was just painful, but so far in about 50 miles of driving on mainly B-roads, I haven't heard the alarm or seen the message 'keep to the middle of the lane' once. Must be a software update. Thank the lord!!

Where is the heated screen controller?
Thanks both. Found it. Look forward to trying it out!

Where is the heated screen controller?
We've finally taken delivery of our new Octavia Mk4 (1.5 SE Tech estate). Bit of a saga, but it's here! Anyway I'm hoping it has the heated windscreen I ordered as part of the Winter pack (only way to get heated seats) but I can't find how to operate it. It also doesn't seem to have the tiny filaments, but it's a v murky day, so might be I can't see them. Any help much appreciated!
