  1. The longest wait for a Kodiaq I've seen so far has been 12 months. But you may be lucky and get it in under 6 months.
  2. Likewise my June 2021 order still hasn't been accepted by the factory as far as I'm aware. Getting to the point where it might be quicker if I get a job at the factory in the Czech Republic. Get on the internal system and assign my car a build week, then quit đŸ¤Ŗ
  3. Usually with car adverts and brochures they do lots of fancy stuff to make the car look better than it is in real life. However, that VRS in silver looks better in real life than anything I've seen in a brochure.
  4. I'm on week 31, orders never been accepted by the factory. Hoping it's going to magically turn up. Annoying though how Skoda are pushing customers back to the dealers/retailers for updates, when they've got no info.
  5. The funny thing is, Toyota one of the pioneers of just in time, increased the amount of stock they hold for crucial components such as chips after the Tohoku earthquake in 2011. For VAG group I guess the mess up was suppliers like Bosch/Continental scaling back chip orders early in the pandemic. The embedded chips they use are quite old tech (which is normal). With reduced orders some the chip fab lines shut, never to be reopened ( not worth it). It's a difficult situation, you've got parts which have been safety / battle tested over the years, ABS/ airbag control units etc. Do you bite the bullet and redesign some of those parts with modern embedded chips and risk a massive recall if things start failing after 6 months, or do you wait for supply to increase? Hopefully with the opening of the Bosch chip plant in Germany last year, things will get better, I don't know.
  6. I believe each dealer has a monthly quota of Kodiaq's that they cut put through to the factory. So it's possible that particular dealer may have used most of their quota for the coming months. Or they were just playing it on the safe side.
  7. From this it sounds like it depends on the road. The system still lets you go 'fast' to overtake etc. but if you keep ignoring warnings from the car, it'll reduce the engine power to slow it down ( no breaking). https://qbeeurope.com/news-and-events/blog-articles/mandatory-speed-limiters-on-the-way/
  8. Not impossible some of us are going to end up with the MY23 spec if the delays continue, which I'm guessing is going to be fitted with the mandatory speed limiter ☚ī¸
  9. Extended shutdown over the Christmas holiday, Dec 23 to Jan 10. https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/vws-skoda-extend-holiday-break-until-jan-10-unions-say-2021-12-16/
  10. My 2nd car is a 20 year old mk1 Seat Leon 1.6 base model (same platform as Audi A3/Mk IV Golf/ Mk1 Octavia), came with door safety lights, gas struts for the bonnet, electric fuel flap cover, entire upper dash is super soft touch material. Done 150k, drives like new with no rattles and never broken down. Since that generation VAG group have been cost engineering everything to the max. Personally I hate it, especially on cars costing >ÂŖ25k . Removing door safety lights to save a few pence, that's just wrong.
  11. I was certainly scratching my head when I read about them starting production of the facelift Kodiaq in India this month. They've got cars covered in snow sat on a runway waiting for parts... and yet, they've got cars rolling off the production line else where? https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/skoda-kodiaq-facelift-local-assembly-begins-ahead-of-january-launch-422938
  12. Good to know, my June order has hadn't any updates. One small benefit of it being registered after Feb 2022 wil be the 22 plate.
  13. The best explanation I've found is from someone's dealer on another forum:- The dealer that my order has gone through (via a broker) as a fleet order, must have used up a lot their Kodiaq allocations. Hence I ordered in June, but their next allocation for getting the order accepted at the factory was end of September (according to Skoda chat). Guess that didn't happen due part shortages / backlog and possibly a priority placed on cars ordered directly from the dealer. The chat I had with Skoda online seemed to suggest they put broker/fleet/lease orders in the same category. For the emissions, I did try to buy a Kia Sportage brand new recently (as a stop gap for the Kodiaq). The dealer(s) had vehicles in stock and ready, but wouldn't let me have one until January 1st 2022 to prevent Kia exceeding their emissions average (you can see that if you search autotrader). I don't think Skoda are delaying vehicles being built because of that, especially since it sounds like the registration date is key marker. Also seems to be a lot of Kodiaq VRS coming through, where as you'd expect they stick to 1.5's if they were trying to keep emissions down. Who knows. For me the annoying thing is the lack of visibility of when it'll arrive.
  14. My June order due for delivery Oct/Nov still hasn't been accepted by the factory. The last concrete info I had from Skoda was the order had a deadline of end of Sept to be accepted by the factory, but that was missed. Really annoying, how can a car ordered in October have a build date, but a car ordered in June doesn't?
  15. Heard from the broker this week. My June order hasn't made any progress (no build date) and they've got >100 other people in a similar situation. Annoying, but what can you do.
  16. I saw someone say on this forum they're no longer building unfinished cars. I don't know whether that's true or not. Still got no news on my June order. Original estimated delivery on the order form was Oct/Nov, but as far as I'm aware the order hasn't been accepted by the factory and there's no build date.
  17. Latest chat with Skoda online today: "I would love to be able to provide you with an order update, but order updates are now being provided via our Retailers, who are having the latest order information sent to them directly from the Factory Teams" Get the impression the combination of building unfinished cars and not having a reliable parts supply means the order-tracker can't provide accurate information anymore.
  18. I think Skoda should have used the VRS front bumper on the full range, looks a lot better.
  19. Just checked again with the Skoda webchat to see if the order tracking system is working, it's not ☚ī¸ "I'd love to be able to check the order for you but unfortunately, we're still experiencing technical issues with the order tracker... You can try checking back with us next week to see if it's fixed by then."
  20. The broker has said we'll let you know if we get a build date.
  21. My order from June hasn't been accepted by the factory yet (last checked a few weeks ago before the system went down). I'm guessing it's because you got it directly from a dealer, and mine is via a broker (goes through a dealer as a fleet order) . They seem to be prioritising direct orders. Just checked the status with Skoda chat today, the response was "We are still experiencing technical issues with the update platform and are unable to check the statuses of vehicle orders. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, however, I assure you that we are working hard to resolve this, on time. I will suggest you come back to us next week and hopefully the systems will be up and running again to allow us check the status of your order."
  22. Yeah, hopefully. Seems to be a lot more complicated than just a supply issue though. https://vervetimes.com/why-the-chip-shortage-is-so-complex-according-to-experts/
  23. tried to get an update from Skoda chat today, the response was: "At the moment, our order tracking system is not providing correct and accurate information on orders, consequently leaving us unable to provide an update on your order at this time." Then I saw this on the news 😔 https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/vws-skoda-may-halt-production-due-chip-shortage-2021-10-07/
  24. Checked with Skoda chat today... my June Kodiaq order still hasn't got a build date. Told to check back sometime in October. Not convinced it'll arrive this year which is going to be annoying.
  25. You're right. I was selecting manual gear box and didn't realise that doesn't seem to be available on anything other than SE and SEL.
