Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
It probably doesn't mean anything, but I've noticed the Sport Line, VRS and L&K trim's aren't available as options at the moment on carwow.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
That's my concern.. brand new car being opened back up to fit things in the engine bay, or bits of interior trim / door cards being removed to fit missing parts. I'm sure it'll be fine though. This latest planned shutdown might be partly down to getting the unfinished cars done. I read this about the last break they had. "“We would like to complete 20,000 cars in those two weeks, which are now standing on our parking lots.” https://praguemonitor.com/news/featured/24/06/2021/semiconductor-shortage-forces-skoda-auto-to-downsize-operations/

Yeah, there was an article stating max capacity for unfinished cars as 55,000 before production gets stopped, so not just the runway. Also looks like that runway is used for a mix of Skoda / Seat vehicles. https://www.reflex.cz/galerie/auta/130447/misto-festivalu-obri-parkoviste-skodovka-pod-tihou-cipove-krize-na-hradeckem-letisti-cekaji-tisice-aut?foto=2

It's via a broker, which from what I can tell goes via a Skoda dealer as a Fleet order.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
I checked with the Skoda live chat yesterday. Didn't fully understand the answer, I'm guessing it means in a few weeks time I'll get a provisional build date from the factory. "I've just taken a look and it appears that it is Required by Sept 17th at the factory, which means that it is leased and will begin the ordering process at the factory at that date". I asked what was meant by leased (it's not a lease car), and they said it was a fleet order.

Kodiaq, Snapped Steering Column (now Steering Rack)
Guessing if the dealer gave you the car to drive home in, they think it's safe to drive to another dealer?? If you get it to another dealer + arrange a courtesy car, at least you'll have something to drive. Or if you've got breakdown cover they may be able to transport it to the garage. Failing all that maybe ask the ombudsman if they think it's a good idea to get an independent report done at this stage, never done it myself but I think they can come out to your home and do it. https://www.themotorombudsman.org/consumers/independent-vehicle-reports

Kodiaq, Snapped Steering Column (now Steering Rack)
I almost can’t believe what I’m reading. Had a quick look at steering rack cases on the motor ombudsman site, few interesting ones which talk about how long they should reasonably last etc. Might be worth contacting them if Skoda UK refuse to replace it under warranty. https://www.themotorombudsman.org/?sfid=11896&_sf_s=Steering rack

The order number is 8 digits beginning with a 3. If you don't have it, they should be able to look it up unless it's a lease / mobility order.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
I kind of wish there was a way of the Skoda factory contacting customers to offer different options based on what they're short on. As an example if they're short on the standard stereo, but they've got plenty of the Canton's, I would be happy to pay for an upgrade if it means the build week doesn't get put back 6 weeks.

Checked today, no build week for it yet.

Is it the facelift version?

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
Ordered a Kodiaq on 22nd June, and the estimate was November. Seems to be some luck involved related to what options and colour the car is, as to when it'll actually be built. I'd like it before Christmas, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's early next year.

Is it worth exchanging this Kodiaq for another?
I would go for it. Used car prices are inflated at the moment so it's a good time to sell. You'd be getting another 3 year warranty + face lift with upgraded safety etc. Just be aware of the long lead time.

Facelift model
If I order a Kodiaq now, is it going to be down to chance if it's a MY21 or MY22 depending on the lead time? Or is there a way to find out for definite which one it'll be?

What do you do when the guarantee runs out ?
With SEAT I found even after the warranty had expired (2 years after), they will in some cases contribute to the cost of a repair (e.g. pay for the parts). But the decision to do that seemed to be partly based on whether the car had been serviced at a SEAT dealer ( and thus recorded on their database). The process is basically phone head office, they'll investigate and gives a yes/no, then the dealer can get the work done and just charge for the remainder of the cost. I'd imagine Skoda will be a similar story.
