  1. OK... First of all just want to big up Briskoda this has very quickly become my go-to for all things Skoda! Second I apologise for the long letter I am not skilled enough to keep it short. Last Dec 28th I purchased a sensible compromise SKODA Octavia 2007 FWD II Combi (1Z5595) 2.0 TDI PD vRS Diesel 125KW 170 hp I didn't actually expect to fall in love with the thing but that is exactly what has happened!! I have some issues I need to resolve before my first MOT in Dec. I am stuck in the house so plan on doing as much as posable for myself (I'm no machinic but not work shy either) I have 3x service reports (see attached), first was from JBS (VAG Specialist in Chesterfield), other two from local garage after wheel/tire changes (18 inch OEM Zenith all round). I think I can split my ToDo list into two sections, First section would be getting suspension and breaks back up to standard. I'm on Universal Credit at the moment (So poor), however, I want to do her justice as best I can. Judging from the service lists the MUST DO's include: N/S/F - CV Boot O/S/F - Lower ball joint boot N/S/R - Break calliper seized O/S/F - Break wear indicator - wire/harness broken O/S/F - Disk rusted However, what I would like to do is replace/upgrade as much as possible, especially whilst I'm there removing stuff would be nice to simply replace the lot. Break disks, pads, callipers, boots, shocks. All round. I have looked through previous posts (36 pages containing brakes) to see what options are best. Rather than purchasing individually all the parts it makes sense to look for a kit on eBay for example which dramatically reduces cost, also with this being VAG I can look at multiple options from a verity of other cars, this makes part hunting a little tricky (Looking up parts using Car model/REG/VIN for example is severely limiting my search options), or I could look at refurbished/brokers (Porsche stuff looks tasty for example). I have located the build code sticker (see attached), and using prsearch.planetvag.com the xl is also attached. The only code I can see relating to disks is 1KP Rear Disk, I was expecting more info with a range of several codes like in the post quoted and no mention of front so am I reading sticker correctly? I have measured my current disks best I could CURRENT SET UP: Bolt Hole Circle PDC: 112 mm Cantering Diameter: 65 mm Number of holes: x5 Front Dimeter: 312 mm Thickness: 25 mm Rear Dimeter: 286 mm Thickness: 12 mm I have located some markings (photos also attached) no idea which of the markings are relevant / of use??: It would be great if I could identify what callipers / shocks I'm currently using? Front calliper Markings - VW - Audi badges Markings - 741 Markings - 581 Markings - VL or 7A Markings - 131-6 Rear calliper Markings - JK5FD Front shock absorber Markings - VW BS Markings - 26H6H3 Markings - VWA 1T0413031DS Rear shock absorber Markings - K08D06 Markings - ?0 513 029 GB Markings - E3103502 Markings - ?CZECHI ? AT OR OPEN Markings - HM 5560 Coil Springs O/S/F - New - Feb 2021 N/S/F - Old - RH3941 - 2018 O/S/R - Old - N/S/R - New - Sep 2021 If I have understood correctly the range I want to be searching for on Disks are as follows?? Front Disks Dimeter: 312 mm or 340 mm Thickness: 25 mm Height: 50 mm PR Number Range: ?? / ?? Rear Disks Dimeter: 286 mm or 288 mm Thickness: 10 mm or 12 mm Height: 48 mm or 49 mm PR Number Range: 1KP / ??? I'm finding it more difficult to identify what measurements part numbers I should be looking for with Callipers (fore example 4 Pot, 8p 8v, ATE, TRW, VBT, - and a whole other bunch of acronyms that I don't understand) Front Callipers Dimeter: 312 mm or 340 mm Calliper Type: Diameter 1 mm: Brake disk thinness: Manufacturer Restriction: Material: PR No.: Carriers: ?? Rear Callipers Dimeter: 286 mm or 288 mm Calliper Type: Diameter 1 mm: Brake disk thinness: Manufacturer Restriction: Material: PR No.: Carriers: ?? Front Shocks Absolutely no idea Rear Shocks Absolutely no idea Once again I sincerely apologise for the length of this post, but if I can just nail down my search criteria and the different ranges so I know what parts are available and which parts will complement each other? Fore example I thought these would fit, however, the eBay Compatibility says that they do not fit 😕 ? Once I have my parts lined up for this first section I need to look into the second half of my ToDo which is tackling the engine warning light, break wear indicator - wire/harness cut, Vacuum pipe missing from ERG valve, Fault on MAF sensor... I strongly suspect previous owner has either blanked or disconnected several engine parts and will require further investigation to see what is going on under the hood.. Ill save this for another day another post Kind regards Ricky
