  1. You can not select a destination from phone contacts. This has been confirmed by Skoda.

Someone commented that Google Maps or Apple Maps can be used. Correct, and very good too. Unfortunately I don't think they can be transferred to the digital dash. It also means fiddling with another device. My purpose in this vehicle was to keep things as simple as possible. No such luck. If I used the car nav on a daily basis I would change the car for something other than a VAG model Probably an X1 at about the same cost after specifying up the Skoda? With regard to a comment from CJJE about using a phone data for internet radio. I use a TYP Link left over from use on my old Karoq. The data is good for roaming and reasonably priced. Unfortunately you have to shut off the e-sim.

Someone commented that the MIB3 system was a step back from the MIB2 not froward. This may be a longer step than they realise. The last time I remember using Lat and Long for navigation was the Decca system. This was developed during World War 2 and discontinued at about 2000 when GPS became available to civilian use.

With reference to an input from Chris on another blog regarding updates. I have had at least two updates for the system since I had the car early October. Both have gone through automatically through the built in SIM without a hitch. One good thing. I say through the SIM, it certainly started there since I was away from home. It may have completed on WIFI in my drive. I seem to have been in touch with support since I had the car with various problems. Most have been resolved. You can expect bugs in a new system but as long as they are dealt with you have to accept it. But when you haves things like the navigation on the MIB3 system, and to be told, "That's how it is. We have no plans for an update" it isa bit of a slap in the face. It took contact with "info@Skoda" to get things moving, all be it with a negative result, on this contacts problem. I made detailed notes to them of the various problems I have found with the nav system. I hope they get passed on to someone who will take note and may be action. Perhaps we should all do the same, not just sit back and moan to each-other. Long live BMW.

I have an Edition with the Columbus MIB3 system. The destination search is a joke. With the problems of the post code nonsense we also are not able to select a destination using contacts. I have been informed after chasing the subject since last October that it is not intended to work in Navigation. Only in Phone. The route selection is also a step backwards from the MIB2. You cannot store a bespoke rout. You cannot select a start point. If on a trip of several days it is useful to select your own route for each day and store it to instant retrevalal on the morning. Now you have to rely on their selected routes or take time to input waypoints with the inherent Lat/Long problem. Please give me back the MIB2 system for Nav. "Simply Clever"? I don't think so!! Putting in a French area number (24100) will give you Bergerac with some street names but will not allow you to input a street. You can get back around but it does not find it. The only way to find the address in France or Uk is go to the Map and look, then touch it on the map. I wish now I had bought the BMW X1. I stayed with Skoda because I liked my previous SEL Karoq. I live in Guernsey so when I ask for a destination in UK it will only route me through Pool. I can't change that. Problem. Boats are not going to Pool at present. I have used Nav systems for many years as a pilot and sailor, even with old creaky systems I have never had this problem. What a mess. VAG pull your finger out and sort it out.

  8. I have a 2021 Karoq Edition with the MIB3 Columbus infotainment system. Previously had an SEL with the old Amundsen. I do not find the new system as user friendly as the old. The main advance is speed. The system totally fails to be able to use addresses form contacts requested from the menu on screen or by voice. The same address input manually is found. Yes I get the sam problem with Post Codes. Really should we be able to recognise a Lat and Long? I love the car but 19 inch wheels are hard but handle much better.
