  1. Make & Model: 2007 Octavia VRS TDI Estate Colour: Race Blue Mileage: 183456 Price: £600 Description: 2.0TDI 170bhp Tidy condition, inside and out. Noteworthy marks: • Dent in n/s/r door below the moulding. • Dent in tailgate. • Paint on the bonnet is not the best but is presentable. • Some cosmetic stone-chip rust on the sills but they are not rotten. • Some age related wear on driver’s seat bolster. • Headlining sagging a bit in the rear luggage area. However, the car has recently broken down – it suddenly developed a misfire on the motorway. I drove it home OK, above 40mph it was not too bad but at low speed it was juddery, smoky and unhappy. There were no lights on the dash. On investigation there is hardly any compression on one cylinder. I removed the intake manifold and found it has eaten at least one of the intake swirl flaps. Several are missing but only one has departed recently from what I can see. I think with all the recent parts and general condition this car is worth fixing but I don’t have the time or inclination. I suspect there is a bent valve in there somewhere so the head will need to come off. Prior to breakdown, the car drove quietly and drove very well. The seats are some of the most comfortable I have ever sat on. Everything works, no lights on the dash, cruise control etc. The brakes, suspension, gearbox and clutch all in good order. It has some good parts, the false floor in the loadspace is really handy, the retractable luggage space cover still works fine and there are two sets of genuine Skoda floor mats in perfect condition (one set rubber and one set in fabric with VRS logo). There are a pair of nearly new Avon tyres on the front too, put on recently in preparation for the MoT (which has now just expired). There is a lot of car here for someone, but I just need it gone. V5 present, lots of history. A thread documenting some of my early ownership and an album of photos: Condition: Used Service History/Receipts/Recent Service work: The car is completely standard and has been well maintained in the 4 years we have had it. It has (within the last couple of years) had: Replacement DPF. All new rear suspension arms and bushes. New rear springs. New rear wheel bearings. New front console bushes. Track rod ends. Track rod inner joints. Radiator. Oil cooler. Timing belt at 158k miles. Extras: Cruise control, Climatronic, jumbo box armrest Mods: OEM boot false floor fitted Collection: Yes - near Penrith - will need to be transported Pictures:
  2. I daily drove a Peugeot 205 D Turbo for quite a while, a fairly rare variant with some GTI trim and the XUD7TE turbodiesel engine. It was excellent to drive, with the trademark tight 205 handling and great torque and economy. The usual French electrical gripes were present, but easily rectified with afternoons of playing with a multimeter and the occasional repair or retrofit. As for the market - the Pug was sold for roughly three times what it was bought for, although the costs of ownership (including servicing, head gasket, turbo seals, suspension fettling etc) almost certainly outweigh that profit.
  3. I am able to offer both design and manufacturing services for rare or custom parts, including reverse engineering. I am a professional design engineer, competent with CAD software and creating engineering drawings. I also have access to a large catalogue of suppliers to manufacture these parts or assemblies. My (non-exhaustive) list of services will be as follows: Design and procurement of steel fabrications, including: flat profile plates, bent profile plates, and welded assemblies. Can be offered with a variety of surface finished including paint, powder coating, elecroplating etc. Design and procurement of machined parts. Primarily offering various grades of aluminium and steel, but other materials can be considered on a case-by-case basis. Design and procurement of 3D printed plastic parts in a variety of materials and finishes. If you require anything not on the list above, let me know. Variety is the spice of life and the worst I can say is no. Costs will vary based on the work involved, but will typically cover the cost of manufactue (including prototypes), cost of shipping, and enough to cover my own time on top. As with anything, costs will obviously make a lot more sense for larger runs of parts as opposed to one-offs, so I would encourage interested members to try to drum up some interest among peers if they are interested. Any popular requests could be offered with a fixed price on the classifieds if there is enough interest after design and prototyping. I am not active as often as I used to be, so responses will come to messages as and when I see them. I will not add any other points of contact to this thread without the go-ahead from a moderator. Thank you all for reading, and please do ask if you want any more information or clarification on any of the above.
  4. Make & Model: VW RCD330 Head Unit Price: £185 Description: RCD330 head unit to fit PQ platform VW Group cars (Mk5 Golf era). I have been using it without issue in a Mk2 Octavia. These are an OEM VW part used in China, and as far as I'm aware they are the only way of getting CarPlay etc. using genuine VAG parts on this age of car. They also have an integral Bluetooth module and microphone. Photos of the unit working were taken today. The small cutout in the rear was used to run a rear USB cable - this has been removed and the front USB still works. Note that some RCD330 models came with Android Auto - I have no idea if this is one of them since I haven't tried it, but on some this can be enabled with a firmware update. Open to offers. Listed for a little less here than elsewhere, for the good of all you lovely Freedom folk. As above, I've used it in a Mk2 Octy, but I believe these also fit Mk2 Fabias and Mk2 Superbs - there are lots of threads on here about fitting these units to various cars, have a look. While I'm in the Classifieds mood, I also have a VW dealer fit Helix subwoofer kit which I haven't decided whether to keep or not, and a Race Blue PD170 Octy estate which will be for sale shortly. Condition: Used - good Shipping: £## - whatever the postage costs, or diesel money to deliver myself depending on location. I'm on the move a fair bit so feel free to ask. Collection: Yes - ST14 Pictures:

Is this still available? If so I'll take it - I can collect depending on location or pay postage.
  6. @JBROWNE - I have not yet. The standard fascia still goes on but there is an unsightly gap around the edges. I've just been trying not to look at it... There are plenty of Chinese copy fascias in the right shape on eBay, but only in standard grey rather than VRS silver. I suppose you could spray one silver or just deal with the incorrect colour, but I haven't bothered. I did order a correct silver one from LLL Car Parts at vast expense, but despite it being listed as in stock on their website, they emailed me a few days later saying they didn't have any, and refunded my order.
  7. I'm guessing you mean your car has a FL MFSW? Does this work okay with your pre-FL Maxidot? As I've heard of the radio/volume buttons working but not Maxidot controls when fitted to a pre-FL car.
  8. I've been doing some reading around retrofits for pre-FL Mk2s and I'm trying to find out a bit more. For context, the car is currently standard apart from an RCD330 head unit which works great.. I'm looking into fitting maxidot and I've found a pre-FL diesel VRS cluster for sale. I'm fairly confident I understand what's involved in fitting this. What I'm wondering is whether fitting a facelift maxidot cluster is difficult, and whether this would give me the option on future of fitting a FL MFSW and having it work fully with the steering wheel controls. I'm also wondering how well this maxidot/MFSW combination would integrate with my RCD330 unit, both with native audio playback/phone connection and also when using CarPlay. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
  9. Long time no update, as I've been busy busy recently. Nothing particularly exciting has happened to the car since I last posted on here but for you boring sods here's the list anyway: - Track rods and ends fitted, which made precisely zero difference to the play in my steering, so I'll just live with that for now... - Finally flushed the coolant through enough that there's no residual oil left from previous oil cooler issues. Now all that's needed in this department is a nice new header tank since mine is beyond cleaning. - New front brake discs and pads - good quality Pagid parts which should look a lot better than the crusty old discs for some time to come, the silver paint on Pagid discs seems to stay on and prevent ugly rust around the edges pretty well. - I had a minor rear end bump (no other cars involved, entirely my fault) and now need to source a bumper and tailgate in the correct colour. - And the most exciting for last: fitted an RCD330 head unit which was going spare from my dad's old Tiguan and it's brilliant, a huge upgrade. I also fitted a USB extension from it which goes into my jumbo box so that I don't have annoying cables coming out of my dash when using CarPlay. The fitting was very easy, plugged straight into the existing radio connector and worked straight away. All I need now is the correct dash fascia to fit it (same as Columbus/Amundsen I believe), but finding one of these in VRS silver with pre-FL climate control holes is proving tricky.
  10. It was a good do! Some VERY nice motors around. Quite a few Skodas, and a lot of Mk2 Golfs and the like which are right up my street. I bobbed down with my dad and a couple of mates with my Octy and a fleet of Audi 90s.
  11. Might be worth having a look at the wiring loom going to the injectors, if you aren't happy testing it properly with a multimeter then even just a visual inspection. Other than that if I were you I'd be taking it into a VAG specialist and asking then to diagnose it.
  12. I don't know enough about common rail engines like yours to say for sure. On an older PD engine there is absolutely no chance you could do it that quickly as it's quite an involved process involving stretch bolts etc. However I think CR injectors are external (not under the cam cover) and not mechanically actuated like PD ones so it isn't out of the question. I've changed injectors on older (80s/90s) petrol and diesel cars in not much more time than that.
