Hi My old Fabia has Climate control, So I didn't mind drilling holes in the back of the glove box as it wasn't removable. Your 2010 Fabia might just have a removable lower glove box which would make the job simple. You might be lucky but it really isn't that bad a job just awkward . No need to mess with the air bag either.

I looked underneath to see roughly where the screws are located then drilled a tiny pilot hole and shined a torch through it it see how far i was out then drilled out a bigger hole.

Yes designed to make money. Evidently the Mk1 Fabia you can remove the whole glove box which made it far too easy for people to fix themselves.

Hi Took a couple of pics top left and next to the right fixing point as close as you can get it and up about 2cm. I could get at the star screws to remove and replace them. Shine a torch and you will see them. You can glue the plastic back in afterwards I just used some rubber grommets used to seal electrical boxes as were a good fit.

I have just fixed my Fabia 2009 electric windows that stopped working. After checking everything for hours I noticed the right angle adapter on the top of the drivers side window motor can be removed , the one the harness plug attaches to. I sprayed some contact cleaner in , reattached and everything works as it should. Maybe the motor vibrations causes a bad contact. Worth a try if all else fails and a lot cheaper than a new module. I did take the motor to pieces to check the bushes and the circuit board looked ok thats when I noticed the plug to motor adapter.

Thank you for that useful information about trim levels. That has nothing to do with thread wear on inner track rods that could cause a serious accident which is relevant to all fabia's and well worth checking The offside one was nearly as bad when we took the track rod end off it but looked ok with lock nut tight and had no movement when attached meaning all can look ok unless the track rod end is removed to inspect the threads which evidently can fail with no warning Perhaps you should stick to comments on the topic.

Water must have been getting in due to rust all along the inner arm threads which is the only place they're normally rust free.

No it is a Mk3 Fabia 2009 . Fabia Mk3 started production in 2008.

It is 2009 1.4 Tdi Fabia Mk3 90,000miles . It was on the mot rattler only a couple of weeks ago which finds any problems with the suspension and ball joints, everything o.k. The threads were not stripped just barely visible with rust and then tie rod could be pushed on. Maybe just the seriously bad roads full of potholes.

I just popped to the local shop in a Fabia Mk3 and steering wheel didn't return to the correct position after right hand bend so I turned left into the first entrance I came to. The car stopped dead . Jumped out had a look and nearside inner tie rod had come out of the tie rod end as wheel was at 90 degrees I was only 100 yards from home so went back got some tools . On inspection with the wheel off the inner tie rod threads at the tie rod end were virtually none existant so could push the tie rod end on to the inner tie rod with ease. Luckily I was only doing 5mph because at speed it would be seriously dangerous Well worth a look as these are the original inner tie rods on the car. I pushed it back in the tie rod end and used lots of wire to hold it in place for the 100 yard very slow drive back home. Bought a new pair of inner tie rods as didn't trust the other side just waiting for the special tool so I can get them off.

Just replaced my fan just about the same way as your post. The only difference is I had to drill 2 holes in the lower glove box to access both the upper fan fixing screws. I had been putting it off for about 2 years as knew it would be a long job. Then read your post and thought I would give it a go . 2 hours later all done and only £15 from a ebay breaker for the fan. Thanks for the short cut info.

Hi 2008-2014 the bottom glove box is a moulded part of the dash on a mk3 fabia . I wish there where screws that could be removed to take the glove box out but there aren't.

Hi They must have altered it from the early mk3's as the bottom glove box before 2014 is part of the dash and is not removable so I have found out. They probably changed the design due to so many heater fan failures and the whole dash had to be removed too replace the fan. which a garage would charge a fortune for. I have the same problem so I'm just going to carefully cut out a hole in the glovebox with my dremmel and change out the fan and use a rubber glass window gasket too refit the cut out, as it really is a long laborious job to remove the dash.

Hi How on earth did you get the glovebox out of a Mk 3 Fabia as it is nothing like a Mk2 and moulded into the whole dash.

One side did have play, that's why I thought it was the noisy bearing, turned out to be the other side. 1.4 tdi . The car has to drive over lots of speed bumps every day the ones that a car has to straddle which can't be good for ball joints .

Just an update . I had a wheel hub bearing whining, so did a check to find offside wheel had side to side play so changed the hub bearing new abs sensor as was impossible to remove so drilled out. I had to replace the ball joints as nuts sheared when removing. Took it for a spin only to find it was the nearside hub bearing that needed replacing even though it has no movement at all. The moral being, check the ball joints first when movement is found when looking for a bad bearing otherwise you may end up replacing a good bearing. Just waiting for another new hub to fit .

Hi Just found out there are 2 fitments one has a 15mm cone and the other has 18mm I should have measured before I binned the old ones.

Hi Thanks for your post but pretty sure there must be 2 different cone sizes as these have side to side movement in the hub .

Just fitted 2 new ball joints. These are the ones from Europarts matched to number plate. Do all fabia's use the same ball joint as these are not right as steering jumps. Do Mkll fit mklll as on lots of motor factors my plate shows Mkll when it is a Mklll. It feels like ball joint is moving in the hub when driving.

How an earth do you remove the glove box on a mk3 fabia ? It is built into and part of the dash. I am certainly not spending a day removing the whole dash so i thought I would cut a hole in the back of the glove box and see if I can get to remove it that way.

I said the battery was 12.7v but at the fuse only read 9.7v. So nothing wrong with the battery.

I have a Fabia as a runabout. The electric windows stopped working when down. I took the door card off and removed window motor (Torx 30 , 3 screws) so I can pull the window up I checked all the wiring fuses ect all ok. I checked voltage 12.7 at the battery but only 9.7v at the fuse . Maybe a dodgy earth? Hooked the battery charger up put it on fast charge for 30 mins . Low and behold all working again. I know I should really look for the fault but this has worked 3 times now when windows have stuck down always after not using for a few days. Well worth a try before a garage charges you a small fortune .
