Sudden drop off in AC performance / faulty AC system
Hello, I got in my Scala during this mini heatwave here in the UK, the outside temperature was over 28C and the car had been in the sun so the in car temperature was into the 30s for sure. I had to go out so the AC went on and was turned down to Lo and speed/power set to Max (the AC was definitely running as the car's performance really dropped off) but after about a 40 minute journey the AC system had only got the car's inside temperature down to approx 23 degrees inside!! I last properly used the AC about a month before and whilst the outside temperature was lower it seemed to function OK cooling the car down although I don't tend to go for arctic temperatures inside like some do but as I say it seemed to be working OK. Given the sudden / marked drop off in performance this can't surely be down to 'normal' refrigerant loss and must be a fault/failure of some kind surely. My Scala is only two and a half years old so I'd like to get it booked in under warranty, however I'm concerned that the dealership whatever they say will just re-gas it pushing the problem on a few months and then yup you guessed it the car's out of warranty and it's gonna be my £££s problem not Skodas problem!! It'll cost me but I was wondering would it be better to get an inspection by an independent AC specialist with something in writing so I would then have evidence that there was a problem within warranty and then (having independent evidence) take the car into Skoda to be fixed properly. Grateful for any opinions please? has anyone else had any problems with the AC in their Scalas? Robert

Media/USB keeps resetting
I share your annoyance mine arrived and all was well it seemed but following a software update well maybe or maybe just coincidence but then the mayhem of the infotainment often glitching/crashing, failing to respond, user profile issues, settings seeming to be lost, heating controls menu button doing nothing and the auto mode of the climate control not working then working but taking a disproportionate amount of time to warm the car have all taken the shine off of my first new car, it will have to go in under warranty for investigations. I'm like you I do like a lot of things about the car but I confess I did have a look at the resale value the other day.

Front seat backs, range of movement query
Thank you for taking those photos. I'm gonna have a look at mine again but I think it's the same (wondered if spec'ing the leather had made a difference). Pretty b#&!*y annoying the lack of movement forward especially as in my previous car I could load it up with for example several 2.4m P5 T&G flooring boards with just a bit sticking out of the boot BUT that car was about 0.6m shorter in length than the Scala! A big laugh to some ".. you fitted as much in your old car didn't ya .. haha hahaaa" etc etc

Interfering with, hope it got put on a register! No in all seriousness did the dealer elaborate, was the heating control unit faulty and therefore supposedly causing the infotainment system glitches?

Front seat backs, range of movement query
That would be great thanks. There is zero cm of forward movement / slanting on mine.

How (un)common a sight is a Skoda Scala?!
When I had decided that the Scala was the right choice and started phoning dealerships for some it was like they were mentally double checking the Scala was even a Skoda! and then they all refused to offer anything in the way of a discount which for me then put the Scala up against better cars. Frankly I wouldn't currently be the owner of one were it not for being able to source one via a broker at a significant discount .. in fact given the infotainment glitches, heating / climate control issues, start stop rarely activating and some other usability issues I'm starting to regret being the owner of one!

Was out Saturday in the car and saw two Scalas .. maybe just getting my eye in now!

Front seat backs, range of movement query
@John2022 just to clarify do the seat backs in your Scala incline forwards at all, I mean if you position the seat back so it is pointing straight up then will it move forwards (be made to slant forwards) at all?

Front seat backs, range of movement query
Yes I'm just asking if they should fold forward as I've never owned a car where the front seats didn't fold forward. Checked everything I have pre-sale and nothing mentioned about them not or any option you could specify. Manual

Front seat backs, range of movement query
Sorry maybe should have phrased it differently I meant so the seat back slants forward / is moving forwards towards the front dash. Mine gets to bolt upright / 90 degrees to the floor and says no more forward movement! For the record they recline until they touch the rear seat base fine. In all of my old cars I could get the back of the front passenger seat to press into the front dash. Just trying to find out if this is normal seat behaviour on a Scala or a fault (it's difficult for me to get to a dealership to look at one currently).

How (un)common a sight is a Skoda Scala?!
Since I took delivery of mine I've only spotted two where I'm driving - one about three years old and one was a taxi. Where I live/drive is a bit sparse on Skoda dealerships but you do see some Skodas just not Scalas although rarity is fine by me. Just wondered how many other Scalas do you all see about? Robert

Front seat backs, range of movement query
Basically how far should they incline forwards? The car manual references a lever that doesn't exist so is of zero help. I have the leather interior option with normal manually adjusted seats (no electrical control) if that makes any difference. I ask because the passenger and driver seats refuse to incline forward at all! I wasn't expecting full fold flat but bolt upright is it, surely not or is this yet another Simply Clever Stupid feature?! Thanks, Robert

New Scala standard spec items missing
Thanks, yeah I can see that makes sense .. Skoda need to have a word with their developers to fix their website's car configurator as it shows the button when only the rear sensors are spec'd (I know there is probably a get out clause somewhere for that).

New Scala standard spec items missing
Thanks for pointing that out much appreciated. At least it seems to be just a hose and a valve .. assuming the capped hole is still there now, will have to check. Not everyone is a practical/diy person though so I do feel owners should be entitled to demand it be fitted free of charge as Skoda have revised their brochures, well I have their last seven brochures covering the last two years about and they've been happy to mislead potential customers by stating in all of those that the glove compartment is cooled! that I must say is exceedingly poor behaviour as you cannot possibly investigate and verify every little detail which is seemingly now what potential owners should do as the literature cannot be trusted.

New Scala standard spec items missing
Hello all, I have found my new Scala has no cooled glove box (standard for SEL trim) and is missing the Park Pilot button by the gearstick to control the rear (well front too but I don't have any fitted) parking sensors (I thought this button was standard for all but the S trim .. maybe as I have the reversing camera fitted??). I'm going to get on to the seller about this obviously but I wondered if anyone who's new Scala was built around June, July, August time had stuff missing particularly the glove box not being cooled and the Park Pilot parking sensors button missing?
