Having a quick browse round here and I didn't notice my favourite road so I thought I'd share it even though it's pretty famous, it's a road that most people know but many can't find, so I'll make myself useful :p

Go North from Thwaite over the pass, amazing drive
Clarkson driving it in an Escort Cossie....
Ah, one of my favourites for sure - whenever I come up from Southampton I tend to stay between Ingleton and Settle and make a point of taking some time to drive plenty of the local roads.
Last time was about a month ago (when there was the first batch of snow!) and I had a 4 hour drive that encompassed Kirkstone Pass in Cumbria (both ways) and finished with a run in the dark and snow over The Buttertubs (again, both ways) before coming back down Blea Moor Rd (B6255) to Ingleton back to the tent and the pub! Great fun.
Highly recommend this road, but needs to be treated with respect. And if you have a fabia vRS, get 312s!

OOOoohhhhh, that sounds tasty!
Shame I'm in Southampton - a long way from the Edinburgh Farmers Market! I will have to try and track some down next time i'm ooop north!

I'm not quite sure if you missed the point..................or at least Mr Collingwood's point
Ooops! In my defence, it was after my xmas party!
I'm hoping he was wearing a box cos it seems to have a definite ridge to it!
-
I certainly would - if it were a NEW mark one vRS.
Might be worth adding a poll

God-damn it that was an awesome moment.
I hate that convict.
Shame we're now collapsing!

60k or 4yrs, which ever comes first. This should apply to all PD130 units, across the Group.
This is the problem. Blokey at Skodawhen I rang half-hour ago said:
60,000miles, well the book says 80,000km but thats roughly 60,000 miles. The problem being, it is actually 50000 miles. So this is a skoda service staff, quoting a skoda figure, then ballsing up the conversion rate. What would the knock-on effect be for the customer? How many other people have been told this incorrect figure? How many other customers are blindly carrying on a potential extra 10000 miles?
As you say, not a good thing that there still is confusion on the issue.

Right-ho, just did of bit of research on me own, heres the results: more confusion!
Local Stealer - 80,000 KM which they said is 60,000 miles. Google disagrees, and says 80000km=49709.695. Quoted a price just north of £400 belt, pump, labour VAT
Local Indy - 75,000 miles, no time indicator(!) Didn't ask for price.
Hmm,

Mazda have
The MX5 has had a non-interference engine since 1989 cambelt snaps and there is no damage engine just stops, don't ask me how I know........
One of my colleagues is always boasting about this! It's a puzzler - I can only think it's in order to keep servicing and further sales going. (Edit - I meant in cars with a normal belt!)
He is a bit of a petrol-head, and although initially was a little skeptical about the Furby (comments about Perkins Diesel and tractors!) he has now fully come round to it - especially when I mention the mpg. It's gone from "I'm not sure about them" to "so when are you going to flog me your car cheap?"
PL

ok, I have to admit I'm confused - I was under the impression it was 4 year or 40000 miles. I'm sure i've read MANY posts here stating that... :wonder:
Now I may be confused, but happy-as I was anticipating needing to be done soon. I bought the car in july08 at 3.5 years, and 26k, so had the belt and pump done then. seeing as i'm up to 61k now, I was expecting to do it in May. However, If I have another 18 months and 45k miles to go I am going to be one happy little camper tonight!
so, who wants to give me the good news?!

I believe there is a couple of reasons for choosing VAG
1) In warranty period, use VAG or any problems with windscreen wash system could be deemed your fault for using non-approved products
2) Is better than other screenwashes
I personally use the Halfords concentrate stuff, in lemon. Does a good job, plus as a concentrate it dilutes to the strength I require. I was left a bottle of VAG stuff after a service (a couple of years ago) and it was good, but I can't say any better than the Halfrauds wash.
If you want VAG I believe there may be a groupbuy on currently

As a fan of the fruit-based beverage i'm interested in other peoples opinions.
So if you are a cider drinker, post your favourites!
Mine are Westons Vintage Special Reserve, and Old Rosie.
Over to you guys!

I hope you guys don't get anymore.I'm in Southampton on Saturday as I am every weekend and don't want to be stuck in traffic.
Snow in Southampton this am:
The first one is a furby photo - top of frontwinglooking across car - I had cleared bonnet, but not windscreen.
2nd is the inch or so that fell after i'd cleared it
and a few others
The mainroads seem fairly passable - I couldn'tget out of my side road, so no work!
PL

In a word, Yes. The 15s are quite tight for clearance with standard brakes - no way you'll get them over 312s
Ta
might have to battle the wallet-moths to get some though!
-
15" is the smallest with Std Vrs Brakes
and if you have 312's? i take it that would mean 16"s?

received thanks, much appreciated

i bought off ebay - took the opportunity to fit octy style anti-dazzle blue-tinted heated ones - grood idea, except the wiring on one side need to be lengthened (nothing too severe) but the glass also didn't quite fit the plastic backing frame properly
so ebay is an option, but the fit may not be perfect!

pm sent (finally!)
