  1. Upsidedown, I'd like to think you're right but I suspect otherwise. And as for another Kiwi win ...... we have to let you win occasionally so you'll keep playing the game!
  2. Hi interested persons, The Yeti has been repaired. re water pump - SKODA provided water pump at 50% off and no further. The dealer came to the party with 50% off labour. The cause of the leak was identified as an internal housing leak. re oil separator - SKODA provided oil separator at 50% off and no further. The dealer came to the party with 100% off labour. The cause of the oil separator leak was not specified but it was regarded as being in excellent condition with no signs of any blockage in oil galleries leading to the separator. A cylinder leak test was carried out by the dealer (my request) to "determine if there was abnormal crank case pressure and the result was everything is as the manufacturer intended". re oil separator - nobody will say what the underlying problem is but from what I can gather it is the design ....... no idea which bit but as the separators show no symptoms apart from leakage my highly uneducated guess is the interface between the separator and whatever it is fixed to. Surface interface issues??? Adhesive?? No idea. It's great the work has been carried out, but it took 10 weeks to get to agreement and 6 weeks of that time was waiting for SKODA to respond on 3 occasions and even then they still had to be prompted. Pretty shabby. That said, I am happy with the dealer's final offer and the work carried out .......... as far as I can tell from peering under the bonnet! The beast is back on her feet (yes, she is a she) and strolling the hills around here with renewed confidence. Thanks for your help and sharing your knowledge and experiences. Cheers

  4. Thanks for your interest Upsidedown. Matters are progressing, work is being carried out in a couple of weeks and I'll share once it's done
  5. No news. The water pump and oil separator issues where discovered 14April21 during annual it's service. It's effectively been 'off the road' since then as I seek to resolve the issues prior to the work being carried out. SKODA (Aus) has only responded to my written communication when I phone them, having given them 2 weeks to respond each time. The dealer has been more prompt. Currently awaiting SKODA (Aus) response via dealer ........it'll be 2 weeks this Tuesday. When the work is finally carried out I'll share the details.
  6. Upsidedown: Good to hear you have satisfaction from SNZ 'tho a little sad it took a pending Disputes Tribunal hearing before they decided to come to the party. Re my water pump & oil separator issue, I am awaiting a response from SKODA (Aus) via dealer.
  7. Hi Andyspan, good to hear it's sorted and I feel a warm happy glow for your Yeti
  8. I think it's a std way of this dealer showing the client what's going on underneath when they do a service and includes tyre depth etc and audio by the mechanic. They txt it to the customer to help better understand recommendations they make prior to you giving the ok for the work and I've found it useful. I would expect other dealerships would do something similar??? As for sending it to SKODA (Aus) it is being used to support the submission to SKODA (Aus) to come to the party
  9. My 2 cents worth : my Yeti dispalyed similar lights on the dash and it was the wheel speed sensor (rear left)
  10. As a general update: yesterday the Yeti had it's underbelly videoed again (oil separator and water pump) by dealer and forwarded to SKODA (Au). Like any owner understanding 'why' something is happening and a permanent solution are important. Cheers
  11. Thanks Austin 7, I found the video helpful. As a general update: yesterday the Yeti had it's underbelly videoed again (oil separator and water pump) by dealer and forwarded to SKODA (Au). Like owner understanding 'why' something is happening and a permanent solution is important. Cheers
  12. Thanks Wino, that sounds like good advice and a good starting point.
  13. Thanks Wino ....... any idea of what sort of underlying problems? I'm discussing it with the dealership tomorrow when they have another look. Any pointers would be welcomed.
  14. Is it usual to replace the oil separator every ~ 15,000 kms?
  15. Upsidedown: No, not yet. Still in the vehicle which is off the road until we can sort something out with dealer and /or SKODA. Taking the vehicle to dealer tomorrow (Tue) to reassess both the oil separator and water pump issues.
  16. Hi Ken, with the help of the back of an envelope, we guesstimate between 800-900 hrs running.
  17. Just read the class action against VW - interesting and I note the extended warranty is for 10 yrs or 100,000 miles. I see the dealership on this week to progress my waterpump issue. Best wishes for your hearing and I watch with interest, from across the ditch.
  18. Thanks Upsidedown, interesting indeed. Did Skoda NZ come to the party?
  19. Thanks Ken. We have a tool that accesses the vehicles systems - is there way to read that information or is it calculated from distance and starts?
  20. In addition to the oil separator issue (previous post) at the same service I was informed the water pump was leaking and needed replacing. It has always been serviced on time and by an authorised SKODA agent. ODO at 48,000 kms (~30,000 miles). When I questioned this re low kms the response was along the lines of number of heat/cool cycles and plastic parts not lasting as long. Poor design and not fit for purpose come to mind. I would appreciate any input/advice re this matter.
  21. My Yeti has chewed through 3 oil separators in 48,000 kms (~30,000 miles) since new and have I been told it 'is leaking badly' and needs replacing again. It has always been serviced on time and by an authorised SKODA agent. I would appreciate any input/advice re this matter.
  22. I have a 2015 Yeti, which I am rather fond of , and hope to get some good advice from this forum.
