  1. I needed a new driveshaft in the end, £700 or so later and the vibration was gone but then a droning noise from the transmission area developed and either a gearbox rebuild or new flywheel might be the solution but I have taken it as far as budget allows.
  2. Do you think relpacing the driveshaft with a skoda one would fix my issue? I'm assuming the aftermarket one i got fitted that the garage chose doesn't mate very well to the dsg? I have heard dsg gearboxes and particularly sensitive to anything like this.
  3. I rang the garage and they tell me the coupling would of been replaced if they are doing a driveshaft so leads me to belive as I had already suspected to maybe be a transmission bearing or something else. My advice from the gearbox specialist was to just wait until there's more of an obvious noise but it really makes the otherwise relaxing experience of a superb more irritating.
  4. Okay i see. So a few months back I replaced the driveshaft on both sides of the car, (mine is a fwd) with aftermarket shafts because the garage i used said they wouldn’t be much different to oem so could it be the case that I can replace the coupling assembly or would that have been done when I replaced a driveshaft because I dont remember anything mentioned about that?
  5. Hi all, I’m looking for some advice or shared experiences. I’ve got a Skoda with a DSG automatic gearbox, and I recently have been getting a droning noise and noticeable vibration, especially: Under acceleration Around 2,000–2,500 RPM Stronger at 65-70 mph Through the steering wheel and cabin I took it to a gearbox specialist, and after a test drive and inspection on the ramp, they couldn’t find anything obviously wrong apart from a slightly worn dual-mass flywheel. While the car was running on the ramp, there was a very faint humming noise under the engine, but we couldn’t pinpoint the source. What I’m wondering: Could this be due to an aftermarket driveshaft? Could it be incorrect fitment or the driveshaft not seated properly? Has anyone else had a similar issue? It's one of those where you can feel vibration through the wheel as well as noise near the engine How likely is it that a transmission bearing would cause this kind of issue, especially if it began right after a driveshaft change? Is there any advice you could give me as to what the cause of this vibration and droning could be? I don't think stuff like tires and wheel bearings because I know that sound is different.
  6. One of my windows did similar. The window just dropped one night and had to get a new window regulator.
  7. Hi just wanted to provide an update on my superbs issue with steering vibration. I have discovered it to be a few things, first I have a bent wheel which balancing couldn't fix so need to get that repaired. I swapped that wheel to the rear. The main thing however was the driveshaft. I have had to replace the whole thing which has not been cheap even with aftermarket parts but now at 70 -75 mph all I can feel now is just the surface of the road and it's vastly improved!
  8. Hi, facing similar issue with wheel wobble at 70 mph after having new wheel bearings, discs, pads, wheel balancing and tracking, there's still occasional wheel wobble. Was is those suspensions parts that caused the issues?
  9. Fixed this issue now! I followed this tutorial: https://paulroberts69.wordpress.com/2015/10/01/upgrading-firmware-and-maps-on-vw-rns-510-satnav/ The link to updated software: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sHpwduaniYoosbBgt3-4BmMy2LfvJpGG/view I basically burned the iso file from the second link on to a cd (you'll need some software to burn the file to the disc) then with the key out the ignition just pop the disc in and after waiting a bit it should show a message and instructions, it might be worth checking versions etc but tbh I couldn't actually find any other links for other software apart from this version.
  10. No not yet, waiting to hear back from pab546 but will try updating with a disc I found in the car that I believe is a software update.
  11. Okay I think it's version 4024
  12. Hi this is my newly acquired superb, its been a bit of a project needing a few bits done but it feels good to drive despite age.
  13. Hi all, just recently happened that my head unit for my skoda superb has started behaving weirdly, its stuck in German and when I try and change the language back it just freezes on loading the language, also the Bluetooth and radio has stopped working, any advice on a good replacement unit for this particular type of car that would work with all the features like parking sensors and steering wheel buttons etc?
  14. Hello, do you still offer repairs? My columbus unit had recently developed some issues and could do with someone to fix it before I consider replacing the head unit for an aftermarket one.
  15. This thing looks "superb" I'm very interested in this car, i've really been after a bigger skoda to my fabia and this looks so good. Is there any more information you could provide? Any work needed to be done to it like cam belt or any mot advisories??
