  1. I also have this issue occasionally. It seems to happen when I try to pull away again very soon after the engine has cut out, and it is particularly disconcerting if you have not quite come to a full stop before trying to pull away again (usually at a roundabout). I assumed it was just an unfortunate characteristic of the system needing a moment after cutting out before it will restart, rather than a fault as such. I've noticed that it is worse in Eco, so my suggestion if you haven't already is to try a different gearbox mode.
  2. I just had mine changed in my 2017 Superb 2 days ago. Probably the first time it's been done in its life. They still felt fine but it didn't seem wise to leave it much longer
  3. We think the same way! I swapped my 2011 mk 2 TDi 170 Elegance estate (4x4 in my case) for a 2017 L&K 280 just before COVID hit. And I am now considering the Revo stage 1! Do you (or anyone else?) find any downsides to the remap in terms of drivability, economy, reliability etc.? Or are there really no undesirable side effects?
  4. Did that coincide with the change from the 8 inch screen Columbus with physical buttons to the 9.2 inch Columbus with touch sensors only?
  5. Mine does not show this behaviour. I generally have no problems with ACC but I have experienced the issue where you see a car turning off some distance ahead of you and the system slams the brakes on just as it is disappearing out of the way. Best way to avoid this is to anticipate it as you see the car is turning and momentarily kill the system by pushing the lever away, then pull back to reactivate it when the car has gone.
  6. I went for the L&K but it is not a straightforward decision. A Sportline also makes a strong case for itself and is probably better in some aspects, so I think it comes down to weighing up the pros and cons according to your own personal taste. I like the more understated look and extra chrome touches of the L&K, as well as the bare metal look of the alloys (18s for me for a more comfortable ride), rather than the half-painted 19s on a lot of the Sportlines that I see. But although the L&K seats are fine I would love some more side support and I actually prefer the look of the quilted seats and flat-bottomed steering wheel of the Sportline, which I would say has the nicer interior. Personally I would not be influenced too much by the extra toys in an L&K. Park assist is a great party trick but I find it fiddly to use and on my relatively narrow street it actually refuses to engage because it thinks the kerb on the other side of the road is too close and will impede the driver's side front wheel as you reverse into the space (but I can do it manually no problem). And lane assist can be a pain - try to swerve to avoid a pot hole and it will fight to steer you straight back into it! I don't have a reversing camera in mine (I guess they weren't standard fit in 2017) but the parking sensors are great so I don't feel I am missing out particularly. Do they still offer a Sportline Plus? I thought that was essentially a Sportline with more kit, so could be the way to go for you...?
  7. I went for the 280 L&K estate and never really considered a Golf R (or even a Sportline for that matter). I know they are great cars but I prefer the understated sleeper look (only 18 inch rims for me too). My decision-making process was that I can appreciate the space and comfort every time I sit in it, but as a family man living in the overcrowded home counties I would only get to enjoy the extra power and grip of a Golf R very occasionally. If I'm alone in the car I tend to set the steering and DCC to Sport to tighten things up a bit, but I am under no illusions that my Superb drives like any kind of sports car. But then again I am not using it for track days or trying to set a time around the Nurburgring. It is a great overtaking weapon and more than good enough to keep me entertained on the odd occasions when I get to stretch it's legs.
  8. The description says it has a panoramic sunroof but I couldn't see it in any of the pics. Especially those looking in from the open rear hatch, it looks just like my solid roof. Can anyone spot any sign of it?
  9. Thanks everyone, really appreciate your collective thoughts. It's great to have access to so much knowledge on here 👍
  10. Thanks for your thoughts, very interesting. I also have an original 280 (estate) and it certainly feels fast enough to me, but I never imagined it was quite that quick. Did your 4.5s involve launch control? (I have never tried mine as I assume it would be tough on the mechanicals). Also, I previously had a 2011 TDi 170 4x4 Superb Estate. It was far more economical than the 280 at a cruise as you would expect, but disappointingly thirsty around town (which I factored into my "man maths" to justify why we should upgrade to the 280 😉). Luckily we do not cover many miles!
  11. I realise this will be old news to most on here but I only just discovered that the 272 is no more and Skoda has gone back to 280 for the latest Superb flagships. There is a nearly new L&K 280 estate currently for sale on Autotrader for £40,500 (http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202108106068718?atmobcid=soc3). What do people think of this new model? The performance sounds incredible with 5.1 sec 0-60 and I do like the virtual cockpit. Does the 2-spoke steering wheel make any noticeable difference? Are there any other changes to differentiate it from the 272? And now that the new 280 estate sits firmly in the UK luxury car tax band with a list price of £43k, does that narrow its appeal and might an older model actually be the smarter choice for most people, or would you still have the new one if you had the means (which I don't BTW - this is purely window-shopping!)?
  12. Excellent, welcome to the club! 😀
  13. I have a 2017 (UK 17 plate) L&K with heated steering wheel. Not sure whether this was standard or optional extra as I did not spec it from new. It also has the 9.2 inch Columbus, so possibly an updated version over some of the earlier 2017 models...?
  14. I think that's a good decision. I have an L&K myself and I love it but the brown leather of that example would not appeal to me either and that particular SE L Exec looks to be a lovely spec, with a very nice colour, the more modern version of the Columbus touch screen, the same auto-dipping headlights as the L&K and the virtual cockpit display. The noticeable things it looks to be lacking vs the L&K would be the heated windscreen as you said, heated rear seats, possibly also heated steering wheel, the nicer (IMHO) "Pegasus" alloys and the self-parking feature (which is very cool but TBH I have only ever used it as a party trick because I find it fiddly to use and slower than parking it myself using the excellent parking sensors, which the SE L Exec also has). And less power of course - 150 vs 190. I think it might also be lacking the personalised interior lighting options with the coloured LED strips, but I believe the 2016 L&K would only have 3 colour options anyway (vs the whole rainbow of colours to choose from in the later models), and again it is fun for a party trick but hardly essential. I did drive a SE L Exec before buying my L&K and I found the L&K seats to be that little bit nicer (but not in brown for me as I said!), although the one you are looking at looks to have nicer seats than the one I drove (very similar to my L&K in fact). That was a 2017 model, so maybe they got improved with the minor changes that came in around 2017-18. Other desirable optional extra features that you will see quite commonly on some L&Ks are the air-conditioned seats, 19 inch alloys, panoramic sunroof, DSG shifters on the steering wheel, reversing camera and virtual pedal (to open and close the rear hatch by waving your foot under the bumper). It is rare to see all of them in the same vehicle, but the one you were looking at did not seem to have any of them, so you are comparing a newer high-spec SE L Exec with a (relatively) low spec older L&K.
  15. Yes indeed, I have had the Haldex oil change done, thank you
  16. I didn't even know there was an unzipper built into Windows. So no, I did not try that.
  17. Hi everyone. I've been dipping into the Briskoda forums for years having owned two Octavias (1.9 TDi manual and 1.6 TDi DSG) and a previous Superb Estate (2011 2.0 TDi 170 4x4 manual). They have all been brilliant so I took the plunge in January 2020 and spent far more than I ever thought I'd spend on a car to upgrade to my current Superb TSi 280 L&K 4x4 Estate. It's a 2017 but seems to be of MY 2018 spec with the 9.2 inch Columbus system. It is a fabulous car and, due to the pandemic, now seems to be worth about £5k more than I paid for it, which is nice! 😁. I never joined the forums before as I always found what I needed just by browsing, but I encountered an issue yesterday with updating to the 2022 maps that I could not resolve, so joined up for some help. I received good advice within hours and have now got it sorted the next day thanks to the helpful Briskoda community. It is a great resource and I am delighted to be here!
  18. I have successfully unpacked all of the 2022 map files using BreeZip after 7Zip failed to do it for me. I never heard of BreeZip before but it was a free download from the Microsoft App Store and has resolved the problem for me, so I recommend trying it for anyone else who is having problems.
  19. Thank you @ronhagley. That is what I was trying to do and it worked fine for the 2021/2022 version but gave me errors when copying the unzipped files to the USB stick for the 2022 version. I have now resolved it by using BreeZip rather then 7Zip for unzipping the downloaded files. It was a free download from the Microsoft App Store, so I recommend trying this for anyone else who may be having similar problems.
  20. Thank you @MartiniB. I was using 7Zip yesterday but have just tried again using BreeZip and it seems to have worked well. Not attempted to install to the car yet but have successfully copied it onto the USB stick now, so hopefully will work as normal from here
  21. Is anyone else having issues with the 2022 map update for Columbus? I downloaded it to my computer but when trying to copy to USB stick it gave an error saying "unsupported compression method". My car was still running the 2021 map so I tried upgrading to the 2021/2022 version instead and that has worked fine.
