  1. I completely agree, but I'm told that in the land of auto electricals the thickest is the positive and brown is used for positive sometimes . Its rather frustrating that it could run counter intuitive to the rest of the world of wiring. Thats why Ive posted this question.
  2. Can anyone decode the wiring out of my sportline front seat. I think the BROWN in 12v mains. But i wonder where the neg is.
  3. Ok, here's an update. No one has a problem with me doing the seat swap. Within the seats the electrical and mechanical components are identical (parts and part numbers) to the powered version of the Karoq seats. Identical! So a new loom is coming and all that should be left to do check if the seat becomes plug and play if not.. its just software (Codeing). Mars... here i come.
  4. All extremely compelling reasons to not mess with the car. I will try and get an official opinion from Skoda or VW this week. As for DIY mods, thats not really my cuppa tea. And I would retain the original seats for resale value. I am against any mod that will not be reversible. The air bags system concern and sensor systems is real and would always come before any desire for a seat change. My understanding is they are handled independently and use their own connections to the car, which are the same connections used by my original seats. All that being said. The same seat frame is used in the Karoq Sportline, just without leather. And Powered seats are an option in my Karoq. I still have a hefty 3 years of warranty and don't wish to upset that. And insurance would be notified. It's not about the look, it's about the comfort. Lower lumber is superior in motored models and hip tilt is king for long distance trips. And the side supports are just firmer in theses seats. Up down, back and forth, that is in all seats. But If I only got lumber and tilt going with these seats and the rest was manual I would still be happy. Man on the moon, a Rover on Mars, and hopefully me in these seats.
  5. I just threw on a set of Firestone Firehawk Sport 01's. Cheep and quiet. Look great too.
  6. Very true. The path I'm taking appears to favour bypassing the original power loom from the car (not including the airbags or sensors connections) and installing a new one that connects directly to the switches and motors via a 12v connection at the fuse box in the dash.... ..or not. I do know that the presence of motorised mirrors are not an issue either way I go.
  7. Powered seats are an option in the Karoq, but these actual seats are not an option. They are solely available in the Kodiaq Sportline. But they were a steal and exactly what I was dreaming of after driving the Karoq Sportline (Same shape one piece back and Headrest). today I tested the motors one one of the seats using a 12 volt drill battery connected directly into one of the motors (up/down) and it worked a charm. revered wires to do the opposite movement. Thats why I see the potential at worst case to wire the motors direct to the fusebox and switches and taking the loom out of the loop altogether. Best case is getting the car to see the seat and the seat to do as its told with some coding.
  8. That link isn't working for me. 😞
  9. This dream is a hard one to manifest. How can l wire these into my car.? Every auto electrician Ive called said its way above their heads due to the computers involved. But I don't really care about the memory functions, I'd be happy if the power wiring loom was replaced and they were wired directly to the fuse box. All I care about is up/down back/forward and back rest functions. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks
  10. How goods this gonna be! 😊
  11. My Karoq seat was unpowered but uses the same three connectors and the power and earths wires correspond for the new seat but no power yet.
  12. Hi, (Im sticking a powered Kodiaq drivers seat and passenger seat into my Karoq) Would anyone know the exact fuses type, size and rating for fuse #45 in the right hand glove box fusebox. I'll still need coding for the memory function on the seat, but Im hoping I just need to pop the fuse into the correct position for basic powers functions for now!
  13. Hi peekay34, Ive sent you a PM hope to chat soon. Thanks
  14. Ok, maybe a new plan. I'm considering harvesting the bag from my existing original passenger seat. I was hoping not to. Or I keep looking for wreckers local. Here's a shot of the new drivers seat in position (was just making sure it fit before purchasing the seats yesterday.) Fits the same and even uses the same connectors. Awesome!
  15. Really great advice and thanks! The reason for the extreme cost of freight, as explained to me by the airbag dealer was it was a Class 9 dangerous parcel and as such had to be shipped as dangerous goods. Probably to do with the deploy component. 100 pounds for the airbag and 400 pounds for freight!? Thats about $1000 AUD They cost $650 AUD here from Skoda. I'll take your advice and continue my search.
  16. Ok, problem resolved with a restart. Happy days!
  17. Anyone know what to do to reset my ACC that has stopped working after I disconnected the battery for half an hour today. 😳
  18. UPDATE.. I've found an airbag dealer in the UK. But the shipping quotes are like 400 pounds. Anyone have a cheaper idea for getting it to me here in Australia? Cheets
  19. I've had my Karoq for 2 years since new. It's in perfect condition. Just upgrading the front seats to leather/suede seats from a wrecked kodiq Sportline.
  20. Correct! And my Karoq is in perfect condition, all I'm doing is a seat change.
  21. Ill see it tomorrow and let you know
  22. I have acquired the two seats from a wrecker to go into my Karoq so I'm only dealing with the one passenger seat deploy. the drivers seat did not deploy. I now have a UK dealer i am dealing with and all I need now is to get these powered seats, well... powered and working in my non powered seat 2018 Karoq.
  23. How did this project go? as I'm about to attempt the same but putting powered Kodiaq Sportline seats into my non powered 2018 Karoq
